The Dry Earth Formation can serve as a prototype for many formations, and its status within these formations is quite special. Although it is not as renowned as legendary formations like the Zhu Xian Sword Formation, the Eight Gates of Dunjia, or the Bagua Formation, those who are knowledgeable understand that the most intricate and practical formation among them is undoubtedly the Dry Earth Formation.
The most famous aspect of the Dry Earth Formation is its versatility! By simply changing the position of any star, it can transform into a completely different formation. Therefore, many people in the realm of formations claim to use the Dry Earth Formation, but no one dares to say they have fully mastered it.
The formation diagram I obtained is one used for suppression within the Dry Earth Formation; it should be considered one of the simpler types. However, even though the diagram I have is relatively simple, it is not something I can manipulate at my current level, as I lack the magical power to set it up completely.
This situation is rather frustrating. By the time I have enough magical power to fully deploy this Dry Earth Formation, I might not even regard this formation highly anymore. Nevertheless, since the formation has already attached itself to my Daoist Robe, there's nothing I can do about it; perhaps it will indeed prove useful in the future.
After retrieving the sword hilt from Lin Zhao, I realized that Zhang Fan's Brass Greatsword had already been broken by me earlier. However, when I went to look for it, I found that the blade of that giant sword had regrown on its own. It seems this is no ordinary sword; a sword that can regrow after being broken cannot be considered common.
When I fought Zombie Ba earlier, I didn't expend much magical power. Plus, since I was worried about Zhang Fan still being in the hospital, I decided not to hold back and directly stepped on the sword hilt using the Sword Control Technique to rush to the hospital.
Of course, I didn't dare fly directly into the hospital, so I landed outside the city instead. I took a taxi into town and took some time to change my clothes and wash my hair (a proper wash!). Pixiu had already exhausted itself again, so I simply held Pixiu in my arms. Given Pixiu's current appearance, anyone who saw it would likely mistake it for a local dog.
When I arrived at the hospital, I found that a military truck was blocking the entrance, and a group of armed personnel were jumping down from it one after another.
Wow, no way? Could it be that Zhang Fan has gone berserk again? How did he attract the military? I initially thought about grabbing a bite to eat before going in, but given this situation, I could only rush in to check things out.
I hurriedly dashed up to the room where I had been lying before and was surprised to find Zhang Fan quietly lying on his bed. Aside from his somewhat irregular breathing, there was no sign of anything unusual with him.
"Phew!" I let out a sigh of relief.
"Hey, Yin Zheng'an, you're back?" Xia Liyi sitting on the adjacent bed noticed me and sat up. It was then that I realized she was still wearing her archaeologist outfit with many pockets. Xia Liyi seemed tired as well and had fallen asleep on her bed next door.
Her messy hair looked like a bird's nest as she reached up to scratch her head and awkwardly said, "Oh no, how did I fall asleep?"
"Heh." I chuckled lightly. "Did you wake up?"
"Ugh~" Xia Liyi stretched lazily in front of me without any restraint. "I'm not sleeping anymore; I've slept too much and now my head hurts."
"Is he okay?" I pointed at Zhang Fan.
"Nothing, it's just that the sleep talking is giving me a headache."
""
Still sleep talking, it seems Zhang Fan should be fine. His previous frenzy was probably just provoked by someone outside; it must have been an accident.
"That's good. You go freshen up, and we'll go eat."
"Okay."
Xia Liyi didn't ask me why I was in such a dying state before, but now I'm full of energy. I don't know if she didn't want to ask or if she was too oblivious to notice.
Taking advantage of Xia Liyi tidying her hair, I headed toward the intensive care unit. I had placed Pixiu under Zhang Fan's bed; even if Pixiu woke up, it shouldn't have the strength to run around. Besides, it was probably still thinking about the meal I owed it, so how could it possibly run away?
In the intensive care unit, there were still two Brothers lying there. I had already helped them clear the toxins from their bodies, so there shouldn't be any issues.
'Ding!' Just as I stepped out of the elevator, I was met with several guns pointed at me. I quickly took a step back to give myself some space to react.
"Who are you?" one of the armed individuals asked sharply. "What are you here for?"
"Um, I have a friend still in the intensive care unit. I'm here to see them." I quickly raised my hands to show that I had no intention of attacking.
"Name."
"Yin Zheng'an." I complied obediently.
"I mean the names of the people in the intensive care unit."
"Oh, oh, Zhang Wei, Subenming." I provided the names of two of my brothers.
"Go take a look and see if it's these two people," the person who asked me tilted his head and quickly ran to ask his teammate, who was wearing a uniform.
"Captain, it's confirmed. These two are in the intensive care unit."
"Then take him with you."
"Okay."
"Executing official duties, sorry for the inconvenience." The soldier who first spoke to me put away his gun.
"It's fine, I understand," I said with a forced smile.
A soldier with a gun led the way in front of me, and I couldn't help but ask, "What exactly happened here? Why do you need so many armed personnel guarding this place?"
"Don't ask questions that you shouldn't," the soldier replied coldly.
Alright, I quickly shut my mouth. It's none of my business anyway, so I didn't bother to care.
Following the soldier, we arrived at the intensive care unit. Since it was an ICU, it wasn't far from the operating room, and I could faintly see more armed soldiers standing outside the operating room. It seemed like some important leader was here; the setup was quite grand.
I walked into the intensive care unit, and the soldier followed me in as if monitoring my every move. Inside, the two brothers lying there had already begun to regain their normal breathing rhythm, and the symptoms caused by the poison had disappeared. This was good news! At this rate, the two brothers could be transferred to a regular ward soon.
Their lungs had previously been infected by toxic gas and were starting to rot. Thinking back, it must have been the aura emitted by Zombie Ba that poisoned them. Fortunately, I acted quickly; not only did I burn away their rotting lungs with Heart Fire, but I also used my magic to directly heal the decayed wounds. It seems that my Azure Mana is much more effective for healing than my previous golden mana.
Suddenly, someone began urgently knocking on the door of the intensive care unit. The soldier who brought me in quickly chambered a round in his gun and moved to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, a panicked soldier rushed in, looking flustered and disoriented while also carrying a gun.
"Hurry, close the door! Everyone's been infected; our people have all been infected!" The incoming soldier shouted as he visibly began to wither away before my eyes. In no time at all, he collapsed on the ground like a dried fish.
The soldier who was with me in the intensive care unit reached out to touch the dehydrated soldier.
"Don't move," I quickly grabbed his hand before it could make contact with the Dehydrated Soldier. "This thing is transmitted through skin contact. If you don't want to end up like him, listen to me."
The soldier looked at me with an unnatural expression. "How do you know?"
"Don't worry about how I know. Your comrade is not dead yet, so step aside." I pulled the soldier away from in front of me.
The face of the person lying on the ground began to turn pale. It seemed that after losing moisture, even the blood was being absorbed by something. In an instant, the person's head looked like a skeleton in clothing.
"Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin, Spiritual Sight! Open!" I formed a spell with one hand and activated my Spiritual Sight to observe the person lying on the ground.
As I expected, the moisture and blood from that person were being drawn to one spot, which I estimated was around the Heart.
There was no time to think further; I quickly took out the hilt of the sword left to me by my master and controlled my mana to form a blade. With a 'thud,' I thrust the blade into that person's Heart.
I had to admit, this person's luck was remarkable. If it had been someone else, it would have definitely been too late. The gathering point of moisture and blood was at the Heart, so using any physical object would make it difficult to pierce that point without injuring the Heart in an instant. However, my light sword was different; it wasn't a physical object, so it wouldn't harm the person's Heart. At the same time, it was a nemesis to all forms of Evil Energy, allowing me to pierce through the gathering point instantly and stop the continued accumulation of blood and moisture.
"Alright." I slowly withdrew the light sword from that person. "He just needs some time to recover. Make sure he drinks plenty of Sticky Rice Porridge, but don't use aged glutinous rice; use freshly harvested rice instead."
Glutinous rice has properties that can restrain Evil Spirits, but not all glutinous rice can do this. For example, glutinous rice that has been aged for over a year is ineffective. Unlike other types of rice, glutinous rice can absorb a small amount of Earth Spirit Energy, giving it a certain stickiness that allows it to attach Evil Spirit energy to its surface. However, aged glutinous rice has lost this stickiness and thus its effectiveness. Of course, any glutinous rice processed with chemical materials also lacks the ability to restrain Evil Spirits, including those grown in greenhouses.
In fact, cooked glutinous rice has very little stickiness left. But you can't expect them to swallow raw glutinous rice, right? So making it into porridge and feeding it to someone affected by evil is a necessary method. That's why I specifically instructed them to let him drink more Sticky Rice Porridge.
