"What is the key to victory in Wudao Chess?" I asked Shaoming. We can't just play blindly.
"The first person to connect five pieces in a row wins," Shaoming replied.
"Gomoku, huh?"
"Pretty much."
So it turns out that the rules of Wudao Chess are actually the same as Gomoku; as long as five pieces are connected, it's considered a success. What we are playing is actually a type of Demon Clan Game.
"Master, make your move," Shaoming reminded me. "By the way, even if we fail here, the other side still has to connect five pieces to win."
"That's quite frustrating."
"Exactly." With that, Shaoming placed a piece and vanished from sight.

In Wudao Chess, one must endure approximately an hour of torment. Therefore, when facing an opponent at the beginning, it is best to prolong the struggle as much as possible.
However, the time one can delay is limited. Once that time has passed, even if the previous target has not been eliminated, it will directly increase the opponent's advantage. The best strategy is to try to eliminate most of the targets, leaving just one or two behind, and then slowly buy time until the next wave of attacks arrives. At that point, the remaining targets can be dealt with swiftly, allowing for both work and study to proceed without interruption.

The giants began to pound their chests fiercely and then launched an attack on me and Xia Liyi.

I hope the environmental department won't come after us for this burning. They shouldn't blame me for the smog either; after all, the haze in Ancient City of Xi'an must have a bit of bread flavor, right? This is more like barbecue smoke, which doesn’t match your situation at all.
By the way, I need to leave one alive to buy some time. If they all burn up, another group will come out immediately, and I'd be left dumbfounded. After all, I don't have many of these Fire Talisman sets left.
Casually, I grabbed a half-dead giant and used a Flying Sword to form a Trap Formation to confine it.

The Bagua Formation is considered an entry-level formation. Surrounding the central Tai Chi are eight trigrams that can work together, resulting in a total of sixty-four variations.
With just one Bagua Formation, almost all forms and variations of formations can be accommodated. Because of this, I chose to set up the Bagua Formation. After all, cost-effectiveness is key!
The Bagua Formation is not particularly complex but requires eight Formation Bases and a functioning Taiji Diagram. The Taiji Diagram is not difficult for me; however, what should I use to replace the eight Formation Bases?
Three Flying Swords cannot all be placed; it's good to keep one for protection. An Octagonal Taiji counts as one. The sword hilt counts as another. Right, I also have two Pouches given by my master that can be used. Then there are two more positions left: one Sword Sheath (corresponding to the sword hilt) and my Judgment Seal.
It's barely sufficient; after all, I had thought about having Xia Liyi stand in one position.
However, I'm unsure if a Daoist can serve as a Formation Base, so I wouldn't dare let Sister take that risk. But this is something worth trying in the future; if it works out, then I won’t need to carry Formation Bases anymore—just bring along a few companions instead.
As soon as I finished drawing the last Talisman, the second wave of attacks came.
I casually incinerated the last bound giant with a Fire Talisman to eliminate any future threats, then prepared to deal with the next wave of attacks.
This time, it was another army, but they clearly lacked the intimidating presence of the previous giants. However, this group was rather peculiar.
If you are a Skeleton Soldier, I wouldn't be afraid at all; those things are just unsettling due to their bare bones. As a Judge, I wouldn't be scared in the slightest. But a horde of Corpses is a different story.
These creatures not only help with weight loss—just one look at them on a Saturday makes me not want to eat meat—but most importantly, they stink!
With the appearance of the Corpses, a foul odor began to permeate the entire space.
It's hard for me to find an appropriate adjective in my limited vocabulary to describe this smell. Let's put it this way: have you ever eaten Durian? But have you ever eaten Durian that has been microwaved for ten minutes?
