Ye Wujiu stepped forward and gently pulled Qin Yao into his embrace, his deep voice resonating in her ear: "Yao Yao, I finally understand why I feel at ease when I'm with you."
His voice was low and magnetic, as melodious as a cello.
"I have finally found you, and I will never let you leave my side again."
His tone was domineering and forceful, a stark contrast to his previous demeanor.
Qin Yao wanted to struggle but found herself firmly held in his arms.
Understanding her thoughts, he sighed softly and reached out to caress Qin Yao's cheek, only for her to instinctively pull away.
Ye Wujiu's hand froze in mid-air; he smiled bitterly and withdrew his hand, taking a step back.
The demonic energy surrounding Ye Wujiu felt unfamiliar to her yet vaguely familiar.
"Shouldn't I be afraid of you?" Qin Yao pointed at the corpse of the giant beast on the ground and said sharply, "Is this the power you desire? Are you willing to forsake your own nature for strength?"
Ye Wujiu's silence was different from before, carrying an aggressiveness and oppressive feeling that made Qin Yao feel strange and fearful. She tried to pull her hand back, but he held it tighter.
"Yao'er," Ye Wujiu suddenly called her name. He knelt on one knee, took Qin Yao's hand, and spoke with deep affection, "It is you who saved me, allowing me to feel a touch of warmth in this cold world." His tone was gentle, contrasting sharply with his earlier demeanor. "I have liked you since the first time I saw you."
Qin Yao was stunned; she had never expected Ye Wujiu to say such things to her.
She had always seen him as someone who needed care, yet from that familiar smile, she sensed something unfamiliar.
The powerful demonic energy emanating from him suffocated her; it was a shudder from deep within her soul.
Ye Wujiu stopped, smiled bitterly, and raised his right hand to touch Qin Yao's cheek but halted mid-motion.
"Yao Yao, are you afraid of me?" His voice carried a hint of hurt mixed with contradiction, making her even more flustered.
"Yao Yao, I like you." Ye Wujiu's voice was low and hoarse, filled with suppressed affection. "From the first moment I laid eyes on you."
Qin Yao's heart trembled violently as she looked up.
Ye Wujiu gazed at Qin Yao, his eyes filled with love and pain: "I know that the blood of the demon clan flows within me, destined to be different from you. I long to be close to you but fear hurting you."
Qin Yao saw the struggle and pain in Ye Wujiu's eyes.
"This is not your fault..." Qin Yao said softly, her voice trembling slightly.
"But I can't control myself..." Ye Wujiu closed his eyes in anguish, slowly lowering his head, a dull pain flashing through his golden gaze.
"No, I'm not leaving!" Qin Yao rushed forward and grabbed Ye Wujiu's hand.
Ye Wujiu's body jolted, and he turned his head to look at Qin Yao in disbelief.
"I won't leave you, no matter what happens, I will stay by your side!" Qin Yao's eyes were firm and persistent.
"I'm scared, I'm afraid I will hurt you, so I can only choose to leave." Ye Wujiu opened his eyes, staring intensely at Qin Yao. "Yao'er, wait for me. Wait until I find a way to control the demonic blood; I will definitely come back for you. By then..."
Ye Wujiu's words were left unfinished.
He closed his eyes in pain again, his body trembling slightly as if he was trying to suppress something with all his might.
"The demonic blood within me..." Ye Wujiu's voice was hoarse and deep, filled with love and reluctance.
Qin Yao's body was stiff as he held her, the sound of his strong heartbeat echoing in her ears, striking against her eardrums and her heart.
Ye Wujiu released her. Qin Yao looked at the man before her, consumed by hatred, her heart filled with sorrow and helplessness.
She wanted to persuade him but found herself at a loss for words.
Ye Wujiu looked at her, a flicker of struggle in his eyes. He slowly reached out his hand to touch her cheek but she flinched away.
Ye Wujiu lowered his head to look at her, forcing her to meet his gaze.
"Do you know? I hate this damned curse. I hate that it makes me unable to control my power. I hate that it turns me into this half-human, half-demon form." A flash of pain crossed Ye Wujiu's eyes as he staggered back a few steps, looking at him in disbelief.
Ye Wujiu took a deep breath, trying to calm the surging demonic energy within him. His crimson eyes gradually regained clarity as he spoke with a hint of pain and self-mockery: "Yao'er, do you think I was born liking..."
Suddenly, he clutched his head in agony, his body shaking as black demonic energy surged out from within him again.
"No! I don't want this! I don't want to hurt you!" Ye Wujiu screamed in pain as he violently shook off Qin Yao's hand and turned to run into the distance.
Ye Wujiu closed his eyes, his body trembling slightly as if he was trying to suppress something.
"I don't want to kill, nor do I want to hurt anyone, especially you..."
"But the demonic blood is burning, and the desire for slaughter is consuming my sanity..."
Ye Wujiu grabbed Qin Yao's shoulders, his tone carrying a hint of pleading: "Yao'er, don't push me away. I... I like you."
Qin Yao was stunned, looking at the boy before her in disbelief, her heart stirred by tumultuous waves.
Ye Wujiu took a deep breath, filled more with helplessness and self-mockery.
"I... I didn't..." Qin Yao wanted to deny it but found herself unable to control her emotions. She was afraid of Ye Wujiu's unfamiliar gaze at that moment, afraid of the cold aura emanating from him, and even more afraid of what he might do if he lost control.
"Yao Yao, look at me." His voice was full of deep emotion. "I'm not lying. I really like you and want to be with you forever."
"But... it's impossible for us." Qin Yao's voice grew softer; she didn't know how to face Ye Wujiu's feelings.
Yet Ye Wujiu seemed not to hear her words. He grabbed Qin Yao's wrist and pulled her in front of him. "Look into my eyes and tell me, are your feelings for me real or fake?!"
Qin Yao was forced to meet his gaze, the heat and madness in Ye Wujiu's eyes frightened her and made her struggle. "I'm scared, scared that I will hurt you, Yao Yao..."
