"Yao Yao, look at me." His voice was filled with deep emotion. "I am not lying; I truly like you and want to be with you forever."
"But... I am human, and you are a demon. It's impossible for us," Qin Yao's voice grew softer. She didn't know how to face Ye Wujiu's feelings.
Yet Ye Wujiu seemed not to hear her words. He grabbed Qin Yao's wrist and pulled her in front of him. "Look into my eyes and tell me, is your feeling for me real or fake?!"
Qin Yao was forced to meet his gaze. The heat and madness in Ye Wujiu's eyes frightened her, making her struggle. "I am scared, scared that I will hurt you, Yao Yao..."
He suddenly pushed Qin Yao away, stepping back a few paces and turning his head away, refusing to look at her. "I can't stay here; I must leave."
With that, Ye Wujiu's figure transformed into a streak of black light and vanished into the horizon.
"Is it slaughter? The demonic blood within me was forced out by you from the Cultivation World!"
He turned his back, unwilling to let Qin Yao see the vulnerability in his eyes.
"Five hundred years ago, I was hunted by enemies and severely injured. It was you who saved me at the edge of the cliff. You took care of me!" Qin Yao tried to catch up but was pushed away by him.
"Just go..." Ye Wujiu turned around, unable to look into Qin Yao's eyes again. "Before I hurt you."
He forced himself to calm down, releasing Qin Yao's shoulders and stepping back. He spoke firmly, "Yao'er, I have liked you since the first moment I saw you."
"Don't come any closer! You will get hurt by me!" Ye Wujiu's voice was hoarse, filled with despair. He stumbled away, ultimately disappearing into the night.
Qin Yao stood dazedly in place, watching the direction where Ye Wujiu had disappeared. Looking at the pained and struggling boy before her, her heart was filled with sorrow and pity. She knew it was not Ye Wujiu's fault; he was merely a victim of fate, unable to control his own destiny.
Qin Yao wanted to say something but found herself at a loss for words.
Under the night sky, only the howling wind responded to her helplessness and confusion.
Before long, a commotion could be heard in the distance, accompanied by hurried footsteps that grew closer.
"Quick, the demon is in this direction!"
"Senior Brother, what are you thinking?" A girl dressed in a pale yellow dress approached the man and asked softly.
"Nothing," the man in white replied lightly. "I just sensed a powerful demonic aura; it seems to be the presence of the Demon Realm Young Master."
"What? The Demon Realm Young Master?" The girl exclaimed. "Isn't he your arch-nemesis?"
"Search carefully!"
"We absolutely cannot let him escape this time!"
Several cultivators dressed in matching attire rushed past Qin Yao, their expressions hurried as they scanned their surroundings warily.
Qin Yao stood up, brushed off the dust from her clothes, and concealed the worry in her eyes.
The man in white shook his head. "It seems that the Heavenly Profound Continent is about to be unsettled again."
He turned around and looked into the distance, a sharp light flashing in his eyes.
"Luo Xuan, pass the order down to let all disciples strengthen their vigilance."
"Once the Demon Realm Young Master's whereabouts are discovered, report immediately!"
"Yes, Senior Brother," Luo Xuan replied respectfully.
"Ye Wujiu, where are you?" Qin Yao gazed into the vast night, filled with worry. She knew that after being corrupted, Ye Wujiu's power was immense, but he would also be controlled by demonic blood, losing his reason and potentially harming himself.
She had to find him before he was completely lost.
