Stepping out of Water Peak and leaving the mountain gate, Lingfeng turned back to gaze once more. He saw Water Peak standing tall in the distance, clearly visible under the light of the stars and moon.
Lingfeng sighed, uncertain how long it would be before he could return. He also wondered if Azure Vine Brother would come looking for him after he left; if so, how would the sect leader explain it to Azure Vine Brother?
However, there was no time to dwell on such thoughts. Although Monkey Head had some martial skills, his cultivation level was not high. If he encountered someone from Mandala Demon Continent, it would be manageable, but he had never heard of anyone from Demon Cultivation searching for the next generation of demon lords.
Thinking about this made Lingfeng feel a bit anxious. The vastness of Cultivation Realm was beyond his imagination. All he knew was that Monkey Head came from Pro Province and then moved on to Mandala Demon Continent.
Lingfeng's current mission was to first go to Pro Province to find Monkey Head.
Pro Province was the most ordinary region in Cultivation Realm. Due to its lack of special resources and fierce beasts, it became a habitat for ordinary people.
Only those with greater ambitions would leave Pro Province for the outside world, using their wits to capture some untransformed spirit beasts or exotic creatures for profit.
Although Pro Province was the most ordinary state, it still spanned around eighty to ninety thousand miles. If Monkey Head was indeed here, finding him would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
With this thought in mind, Lingfeng arrived at the foot of a mountain.
The mountain loomed high and steep, covered in dense vegetation with birds chirping all around. At its peak, a faint auspicious light radiated, creating an atmosphere of peace. Birds and wild animals stirred restlessly, and the fragrance of flowers wafted through the air.
Lingfeng looked up in awe; although this mountain did not have as much Spiritual Energy as Demon Suppression Mountain, it was still a beautiful sight. If this mountain were in the mortal realm, it would have likely been developed into a tourist destination long ago!
But time was pressing, and Lingfeng had no mind to admire the scenery. He quickened his pace and moved forward.
However, after walking for a short while and not yet crossing the great mountain, Lingfeng suddenly felt a gust of air rushing toward him. The airflow was chaotic and disordered; it wasn't caused by trees altering the wind direction or birds passing by affecting the wind's resistance. This gust contained intense Killing Intent, evidently generated from a fight.
Lingfeng was secretly astonished; he thought that while this airflow was fierce, it lacked any Spiritual Energy, indicating that it wasn't a battle between cultivators but rather a contest between individuals with high martial arts skills.
Lingfeng looked around and then leaped effortlessly onto a Centennial Pine Tree. From there, he spotted not far away a dark figure and a white figure entangled in combat.
"What kind of person is this, to possess such martial arts skills?" Lingfeng only knew that he had not yet broken through the realm of martial arts. If it were merely a contest of martial skills, he would likely not be a match for either of these two. However, if Lingfeng were to use his magical powers, it would be effortless.
Suddenly, the two men shouted and then swiftly flew in their respective directions, gradually landing on the ground.
It was then that Lingfeng saw the faces of the two men.
He noticed that the man in white was also in his twenties, with a face like white jade and bright, piercing eyes. He held an Azure Edge Sword in his hand and wore a serious expression. It was easy to guess that he must be a young master from some prominent family. It was just unclear where he had learned such martial arts skills.
Looking at the Black-Clad Man, Lingfeng saw a rough-skinned man with a full beard. His eyes were fierce and venomous, and his lips trembled slightly as if facing an enemy bear. In his hand was a massive axe that weighed at least seventy or eighty pounds.
Lingfeng was secretly astonished; his Connecting Rod weighed only about thirty pounds, and he could hardly imagine the power behind such a heavy axe.
What he did not know was that the massive axe was merely a high-quality Common Item, which could not compare to Lingfeng's Medium Quality Connecting Rod.
After a moment, the White-faced Young Master spoke up, "You bandit, I have no grievances with you or your kind. Why have you come to rob my escort agency today?"
It turned out that the White-faced Young Master was Bai Lian, the second son of the White Jade Escort Agency from Bai Family Town in the Demon Subduing Continent. A few days ago, he had taken on an escort mission from a masked figure. He did not expect to encounter bandits here at Wisteria Mountain.
The bandit laughed heartily, his unkempt beard trembling with excitement. "You may have no grievances with me, but you have invaded my territory. I, Bear Brute, have occupied Wisteria Mountain for over twenty years without anyone daring to transport goods here. Your arrival today shows you do not take me seriously. To me, it seems you are here to challenge me!" The bandit was indeed called Bear Brute and was the Bandit Leader of Wisteria Mountain.
Wisteria Mountain was the very mountain Lingfeng had passed by. Bear Brute was its notorious kingpin who robbed travelers and plundered wealth.
"You speak boldly! This mountain belongs to the Demon Subduing Continent; have you reported this to the State Government? Did they grant you permission? How dare you claim this peak for yourself without fear of punishment from the State Government?" Although Bai Lian was young, he showed no fear. However, it seemed he had little experience with the world and did not realize that reason did not always prevail in this realm.
Bear Brute laughed heartily and mockingly replied, "My dear boy, you truly are naive. If you want to know, I'll tell you." He pointed his right thumb at his chest proudly and said, "The governor of the Demon Subduing Continent is my sworn brother; even if he came personally, he would have to show me some respect!"
Bai Lian paused for a moment before realizing that the other party was boasting. His lips trembled in anger as he gritted his teeth and shouted fiercely, "Bear Brute! Do not speak so arrogantly! Prepare to face my sword!"
With a swing of the long sword, he leaped forward like an arrow released from a bow, charging towards Bear Brute.
"What a powerful leap!" Lingfeng exclaimed upon seeing White-faced Man's bravery and incredible speed.
Bear Brute, however, remained calm and crossed his massive axe in front of his chest, chuckling twice before launching himself into the air.
Bai Lian could hardly believe that this rough man possessed such skills. She had thought he was just a hulking figure with some basic Lightness Skill, not realizing he could also leap with such force.
Lingfeng was equally surprised and couldn't help but look up at the giant.
Seeing the rough man soaring above, Bai Lian found herself unable to look up and had to steady her stance to land firmly on the ground. Just as she was about to raise her head, she heard a shout, "Incoming!"
Bear Brute dove down again, gripping his giant axe and swinging it towards Bai Lian.
Bai Lian had no time to dodge and hurriedly thrust her sword forward, striking directly against the axe blade with a resounding clang.
Lingfeng did not attempt to help; instead, he found the spectacle even more thrilling and settled on a tree branch to watch the unfolding battle.
Although Bai Lian was skilled in martial arts, she was evenly matched with Bear Brute. At that moment, Bear Brute's weight combined with his brute strength began to overwhelm Bai Lian. Suddenly, there was a thud as Bai Lian dropped to one knee, creating a small crater beneath her knee.
Both were exerting their full strength; Bear Brute aimed to defeat Bai Lian while she sought to withstand his assault. The Azure Edge Sword was originally flexible, but Bai Lian infused it with True Qi, allowing it to remain straight. However, after some time, her arm began to tremble slightly, clearly nearing exhaustion.
Lingfeng realized that if he did not intervene soon, the white-clad man would likely be split in two. Aware that his own martial skills were no match for Bear Brute, he softly recited the Earth Control Incantation.
Being young and only knowing that Bear Brute was a villain who robbed others, Lingfeng secretly activated the Earth Control Technique to summon an attack against Bear Brute.
Bear Brute was feeling pleased and had loosened his grip slightly, waiting for Bai Lian to plead for mercy.
At that moment, a sudden rumbling sound was heard, as if the earth was cracking and torrents were rolling. While Bear Brute was puzzled, he suddenly saw the ground ahead loosening, splitting apart, and widening. Immediately after, a roar of beasts echoed.
In his astonishment, a massive black Earth Serpent flew out from the crack, lunging directly at Bear Brute's face.
The Earth Serpent was as long as two Bear Brutes and as thick as an ancient tree. Although it had a head, it had no eyes.
Bear Brute was taken aback and quickly shifted his focus from Bai Lian to the suddenly appearing giant serpent.
He then charged forward again, swinging his axe outward with the handle aimed at his chest. With a loud shout, he propelled himself towards the giant serpent.
Lingfeng thought to himself, could this guy really be planning to perish together with the Earth Serpent?
While he was still wondering, Bear Brute performed a flip, making a 720-degree turn with the axe. He raised the axe above his head just as the giant serpent opened its massive mouth to swallow him. Suddenly, the giant axe came crashing down, splitting the serpent's head in half.
The giant serpent was merely a beast conjured by Lingfeng and had no real consciousness. Naturally, it did not know to dodge when the axe fell. As its head dropped, its magical power dissipated instantly, turning into a cloud of dust that scattered on the ground.
Bear Brute panted heavily, placing the giant axe on the ground to support himself. It was clear that the recent continuous battle had exhausted much of his strength.
Lingfeng stared blankly at Bear Brute in astonishment. He thought to himself that Bear Brute was indeed skilled; he had managed to break through an intermediate Spell of Earth Wind. Just then, Bear Brute straightened up and shouted loudly, "Who dares to sneak around? Since you possess the ability to control earth, you must be a cultivator. Why do you not dare to show yourself?" His voice was deep and powerful, clearly indicating strong internal energy. As his shout ended, a flock of startled birds took flight nearby.
However, Lingfeng felt that such cowardice was beneath him. He lightly leaped down from the treetops and casually extended his Wood Control technique, causing the trees to move as if they were soldiers following him behind.
