Lingfeng's Wood Control Technique had not yet reached its peak, and he could only control five trees. However, the sight of five large trees following a handsome young boy appeared quite strange.
The five trees resembled five tall giants, slowly trailing behind Lingfeng. They not only shielded him from the sunlight but also added to his imposing presence.
Bear Brute's eyes were wide open, seemingly in disbelief. He thought to himself that the previous spell was clearly the Earth Control Technique; how could a Tree Spirit suddenly appear?
Lingfeng gently landed, keeping a distance of three meters from Bear Brute for safety, and smiled cheerfully as he asked, "Were you just talking about me?"
Bear Brute shivered slightly and focused on the boy before him, who looked only about twelve or thirteen years old. Surprised by his abilities, he maintained his composure and replied, "What kind of monster are you to dare ambush me?" It was already impressive for an ordinary person to learn even one of the Five Elemental Spells, so seeing a child capable of using both Earth and Wood spells naturally led him to believe Lingfeng was a monster.
"A monster?" Lingfeng narrowed his eyes and let out a chilling laugh, adding a touch of terror to his demeanor. "I am indeed a monster; what can you do about it? Can't you see the auspicious clouds covering this mountain? I have been cultivating here for many years, and today you disturb me. Quickly beg for mercy, and I will let you go!" The burly man stared at Lingfeng without blinking, seemingly afraid of any sinister tricks Lingfeng might employ. However, he gradually relaxed and said, "That’s fine; just wait!"
Lingfeng did not understand what Bear Brute meant and initially thought he would engage in combat. To his surprise, Bear Brute pulled out a Horn from his waist and began to blow it awkwardly.
Lingfeng was taken aback and burst into laughter. "You know you can't defeat me; just apologize and be done with it! Why are you playing music to send yourself off to your doom?"
Bai Lian still did not know whether Lingfeng was human or ghost. She had already hidden to the side, wanting to run but too scared to do so. She no longer displayed her earlier bravery. However, upon seeing Bear Brute take out that strange Horn, her face suddenly turned pale as she nearly collapsed to the ground.
But Lingfeng did not notice; he simply sat sideways on the grass, watching Bear Brute's performance with amusement.
After a moment, Bear Brute seemed to finish playing the tune and once again tucked the Horn into his waist, looking smugly at Lingfeng.
Lingfeng glanced at the sun, stretched lazily, and said drowsily, "What tune are you playing? It's not cheerful at all; it's making me almost fall asleep!"
Bear Brute snorted coldly, confidently saying, "Just wait, in a little while, I'll send you to eternal rest underground!"
"Eh?" Lingfeng was quite puzzled; just moments ago, Bear Brute had looked terrified, so why the sudden change?
While in confusion, Ling Kong heard a bird call. The sound was neither that of a sparrow nor an eagle, resembling half a crane and half a goose. The call was persistent and grating, clearly not from an ordinary species.
Following the sound, Lingfeng initially thought it was some kind of bird. To his surprise, it turned out to be a massive creature blocking the sun, exuding an imposing aura. The bird seemed to have the head of a Red-Crowned Crane, but it was attached to the body of a goose, giving an odd impression. On top sat a boy around ten years old, with two hair buns and a face as lovely as a peach blossom.
Seeing his savior arrive, Bear Brute couldn't help but laugh heartily and boastfully said, "This is my spirit beast, Crane Beast. No matter what monster you are, I'll make sure you end up in pieces and revert to your original form!"
However, Lingfeng had never heard of any Crane Beast. Based on its name, he could vaguely deduce that it was a hybrid between a goose and a crane. He couldn't help but mutter with amusement, "This Cultivation Realm is indeed Magical, even hybrids like geese and cranes can reproduce and become spirit beasts." He then wickedly thought, "If a pervert among humans were to crossbreed with some animal, what would come of that?"
While lost in such thoughts, he heard another long bird call.
Lingfeng looked up to see the Crane Beast circling above him for a moment before suddenly flapping its enormous wings.
Seeing the giant bird hovering above him without moving while flapping its wings made Lingfeng anxious. He shouted in frustration, "You stupid bird, why are you pooping on my head!" When he saw that the bird didn't actually drop anything, he continued, "You might as well follow me; although I can't guarantee you'll eat meat every day, I promise you won't suffer from constipation!"
His words left Bear Brute speechless and sweating as he wiped his forehead. He smugly retorted to Lingfeng, "You monster, just wait; you're about to be torn to shreds!"
He then shouted loudly, "Crane Beast, show him what you've got!"
The Crane Beast, hovering high in the sky as if understanding its master's command, let out a long cry and began flapping its wings even faster, creating a whooshing sound.
Lingfeng found it even stranger and was unsure of what abilities the Crane Beast possessed, so he waited to observe. Suddenly, he felt himself slowly rising. Surprised, he looked down and saw a gust of Black Wind mixed with dust, swirling with dead branches and leaves; it was a Tornado.
Little did Lingfeng know that the Crane Beast was using its wind manipulation skills, flapping its wings to gather energy and create a Tornado beneath the enemy's feet, catching them off guard to secure victory.
In an instant, Lingfeng was engulfed by the Tornado. The Tornado towered several dozen meters high, roaring ominously, dark as if a demon had descended.
Bear Brute laughed heartily, waving his arms and shouting, "I don't care what kind of monster you are! I don't believe you can survive in this whirlwind without being torn to pieces!" However, he did not realize that Lingfeng was adept at Adapting to the Qi Field. Back in the Gorge of Demon Suppression Mountain, the force of that Tornado had been even more ferocious, yet it couldn't harm Lingfeng in the slightest. Naturally, Lingfeng would not take this Tornado seriously.
After a while, as the wind gradually subsided, Bear Brute opened his eyes wide, seemingly wanting to see Lingfeng's true form. When the Tornado finally ceased, he was astonished to find Lingfeng meditating inside a transparent protective membrane!
"What... what kind of monster is this?" Bear Brute exclaimed in shock, retreating repeatedly.
Lingfeng exited the protective membrane lightly, surprisingly free of any dust. Clearly, the Tornado had not touched him at all.
"Mountain bandit, do you have any other tricks? Use them all!" Lingfeng said proudly as he looked at Bear Brute.
What tricks could Bear Brute have? He was merely somewhat skilled in martial arts. However, seeing Lingfeng—who seemed neither human nor ghost—he naturally hesitated and relied on the Crane Beast to bolster his courage!
Bear Brute fell silent and hurriedly glanced at the boy atop the Crane Beast.
The boy understood and nodded. With a light shout, he suddenly leaped down from the Crane Beast like a flying crane and landed gently on the ground.
Lingfeng's eyes lit up; he hadn't expected this child to possess such abilities but didn't take it to heart. Instead, he mocked, "You mountain bandit need to send a child out because you can't defeat me?" He scratched his head in confusion and playfully asked, "How did you know I don't like bullying the weak?"
The young man, with a righteous expression, stepped forward and shouted, "Monster, do not speak recklessly! Let me show you my skills!" With that, he took out a Horn from his waist, identical to the Bear Brute's, and blew into it with a loud blast.
The Horn was originally a tool for summoning the Crane Beast and could convey certain messages. As soon as the young man blew into it, the Crane Beast roared again, its voice sharp and piercing, likely unbearable for an ordinary person.
Lingfeng couldn't help but furrow his brow but didn't take it to heart. Instead, he stepped back a few paces, planning to use the Earth Control Technique to teach the Crane Beast a lesson.
However, before Lingfeng could act, the Crane Beast suddenly dove down rapidly, as if it had spotted a rabbit. The speed made Lingfeng's heart tremble.
After diving for a moment, the Crane Beast swayed and suddenly created three clones. Those three clones swayed again and produced another three clones. Including itself, there were now seven Crane Beasts in total. The seven Crane Beasts shot forward like arrows, their sharp beaks and claws terrifying.
"I didn't expect this Crane Beast to have such abilities!" Lingfeng thought, no longer underestimating the creature.
The Crane Beast charged fiercely, seemingly intending to attack Lingfeng with its body.
Lingfeng had no time to think further; all he could do was defend himself. He recited the Incantation of Earth Protection, forming a massive Earth Escape above his head.
Seeing that Lingfeng was protected by an earthen wall, one of the Crane Beasts hovered in mid-air, clearly its original form. The other six seemed oblivious to the earthen wall and instead increased their speed.
In an instant, all six Crane Beasts crashed into Lingfeng's earthen wall with full force.
"Boom!"
Lingfeng only heard a tremendous sound as dust and debris erupted around him, resembling a violent explosion. The earthen wall above him began to shake violently, with chunks of earth rapidly falling away.
"Such strong attack power!" Lingfeng did not dare to linger and quickly used the Earth Escape Technique to escape!
Bear Brute stood at a distance with the child, watching the scene before him intently. Although the previous strike did not injure Lingfeng, it seemed that Lingfeng would have a hard time escaping death this time.
As he was watching, he suddenly saw the earthen wall collapse with a loud rumble, returning to flat ground.
Bear Brute instructed the child to stay put while he stealthily approached the site of the earthen wall.
He waved away the smoke, only to find that it had already become flat ground, with no trace of Lingfeng in sight.
"Could this guy be some kind of insect transformed into a monster? Why is there no corpse?" Just as he was wondering, he suddenly heard the child scream in terror.
Bear Brute quickly turned around and saw that the child was standing in place, as if under a paralysis spell. Although struggling desperately, he could not lift his feet.
"Child, what's wrong?" Bear Brute asked curiously.
The child was filled with fear and did not dare to speak, but hurriedly pointed at his own feet.
Bear Brute looked down and saw that two hands were tightly gripping the child's ankles.
