Lingfeng was brought to the Assassination Hall by the Assassin Hall Master, who asked Kehua, the hall's senior disciple, to help apply medicine to Lingfeng. However, Lingfeng had no idea that Kehua was completely unaware of how to be gentle. Seeing that Lingfeng's pants were stained red with blood and already torn, Kehua disregarded Lingfeng's pain and instantly ripped the pants apart.
Lingfeng was in so much pain that he couldn't speak, lying on the bed with tears streaming down his face, struggling to catch his breath.
Seeing that Lingfeng suddenly became unresponsive, Kehua thought he had fainted and casually slapped Lingfeng on the backside. To his surprise, a scream erupted that sounded like a pig being slaughtered.
After arriving at the Spirit Sect, Lingfeng had endured a lot of suffering. Kehua's actions caused Lingfeng twice the pain he felt during punishment, and the subsequent slap made him feel as if he were sitting on needles.
"Senior Brother, do I have a grudge against you? Why are you treating me like this?" Lingfeng asked through tears, sobbing.
Kehua stared blankly for a moment before lowering his head and sprinkling Healing Ointment on Lingfeng's backside. He coldly said, "If you can't handle this little pain, how can you learn the Assassination Technique?"
"I'm here to learn Spell, not to suffer!" Lingfeng retorted dismissively.
Kehua forced a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he poured all the Healing Ointment onto Lingfeng's backside and then triumphantly patted it.
Lingfeng gasped in shock again; just as he was about to complain, he saw Kehua walk over to his bedside and extend his hand over Lingfeng's eyes.
Lingfeng stared at Kehua's palm in shock, unable to speak for a moment.
It turned out that Kehua's palm was covered with thick calluses and numerous scars running up his arms.
"Although the Assassination Technique is not as refined as Demon Cultivation or Spell, nor is it as honorable, the brutal training involved in practicing the Assassination Technique is something you could never imagine," Kehua explained. "The little injuries you've suffered are nothing compared to what we endure. Moreover, we have no medicine available; we can only bleed and get hurt."
Lingfeng remained silent for a while, realizing for the first time what it meant to experience beauty and the beast. And this beast was merely a product of training by beautiful women.
Thinking of this, Lingfeng felt a bit regretful about choosing the Assassination Technique.
Before he could say more, the door to the room opened. The Assassin Hall Master entered with a lavish meal and exchanged glances with Kehua, who then stepped outside.
"How are you feeling? Much better?" The beautiful woman placed the food beside Lingfeng and asked.
Lingfeng nodded thoughtfully; the aroma of the food wafted through the air, but he had lost his appetite.
"What's wrong? Is it not to your taste?" the Assassin Hall Master inquired.
Lingfeng sighed deeply, stealing a glance at the Assassin Hall Master, and asked, "Why are you helping me so much? Is it just because I have the potential to learn the Assassination Technique?"
The Assassin Hall Master seemed taken aback by Lingfeng's question, forcing a smile as she replied, "Why do you suddenly ask this?"
Lingfeng shook his head and said, "When I arrived at the hall earlier, I saw your disciples. They seemed like mere walking corpses, devoid of thought and emotion. Honestly, I feel they are similar to puppets, and I prefer to be free and unrestrained, not like them!"
Lingfeng's emotions were genuine, but he was also trying to extract information from the Assassin Hall Master.
The Assassin Hall Master let out an "oh" as if relieved and smiled, saying, "So that's what you wanted to ask!" After a pause, she continued, "Let me ask you this: do you know what it means to be an inherently gifted assassin?"
The Assassin Hall Master's question left Lingfeng completely puzzled; he shook his head in confusion.
"Inherently gifted assassins are those who possess assassination abilities from birth, and such individuals are quite rare nowadays. Yesterday, I noticed that you could quickly find flaws in Ke Zhan's whip movements and counter with darts. That made me realize you have the potential to cultivate the Assassination Technique. My disciples lack such potential; hence they require extensive training!"
"So that means I don't need to undergo their kind of training!" Lingfeng asked tentatively.
"Yes!" the Assassin Hall Master nodded.
Lingfeng immediately felt elated but also a bit empty inside. He joyfully exclaimed and grabbed a chicken leg to munch on.
"By the way, why are you being so nice to me?" Lingfeng asked with his mouth full of chicken.
The Assassin Hall Master appeared to be only around eighteen or nineteen years old; however, her exact age remained uncertain since she was a Demon Cultivator. Upon hearing Lingfeng's words, her face flushed red as she shot him an embarrassed glare before running out of the room, leaving Lingfeng alone on the bed lost in thought.
As dusk approached, Lingfeng had unknowingly dozed off on the bed for the entire afternoon. Scattered on the floor were several chicken bones and bloody fragments on his pants.
Perhaps due to the effects of Flower Essence, Lingfeng felt no pain at that moment; he could even turn over freely!
Kehua pushed open the door and frowned at the scene before him. He then waved his right hand lightly, and a gentle breeze swept through, causing the litter on the floor to gather itself at the door.
"You really have a heart as vast as the ocean, not caring about anything!" Kehua said with a mix of helplessness and envy as he sat beside Lingfeng's bed, gazing at his sleeping face with an inexplicable sense of melancholy.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Lingfeng suddenly mumbled incoherently.
Kehua was startled and quickly sat up, panicking as he asked, "You're awake, right? Did you sleep well?" But he was soon puzzled by his own question, feeling like an old mother.
Lingfeng let out a deep breath and wiped his mouth, saying, "I wasn't fully awake, but when you touched my butt, it hurt enough to wake me up!"
"Uh~~!" Kehua was taken aback and looked down at his hand, which still had a bit of blood on it. It turned out that he had been so lost in thought while looking at Lingfeng that he had accidentally touched Lingfeng's rear.
"Ouch~~!" Lingfeng rolled over and sat up, unable to suppress a groan.
"Are you okay?" Kehua asked in a somewhat flat tone.
Lingfeng shot a glance at Kehua, casually tearing off a piece of the bed sheet and wrapping it around his rear before getting out of bed, muttering, "Let me hit you ten times and see if you're okay!"
Although Kehua was not a disciple of the Demon Cultivation Hall, he was the senior brother of the Assassination Hall. In the Demon Cultivation Hall, he was also someone who stood above many.
Lingfeng was used to being carefree and did not like to be restrained with anyone. However, he did not realize that what he just said sounded like dissatisfaction to Kehua. Kehua only treated Lingfeng with respect because of the Assassin Hall Master’s influence, but Lingfeng's words truly left him feeling somewhat displeased.
"If you're feeling better, we will continue learning the Assassination Technique tonight, and I will be responsible for teaching you the first assassination skill!" Kehua immediately darkened his expression and said coldly.
"This person changes so quickly!" Lingfeng thought to himself. However, he really wanted to rest properly; given the current situation, he didn't know what he could learn. He forced a smile and said, "Senior Brother, can we practice a bit later? You see my rear...”
"Sure, but how about we eat after your injury has healed?" Kehua replied.
Lingfeng was left speechless. Although he wanted to continue arguing, he found himself without any words to counter. He still mustered the courage to ask, "Senior Brother, why do we have to practice the Assassination Technique at night?"
"Because assassins prefer to operate at night!" Kehua answered promptly.
Lingfeng recalled the assassin he had seen for the first time; that person had carried out an assassination in broad daylight. It seemed there were exceptions even among assassins.
After taking Flower Essence and applying Healing Ointment, Lingfeng no longer felt intense pain in his rear. However, every step forward or backward brought a strange pain from that area.
Lingfeng followed Kehua to a Scarecrow Field where thousands of square meters were cluttered with various scarecrows. In the night light, these scarecrows appeared somewhat eerie.
"Senior Brother, what are we doing here?" Lingfeng instinctively moved closer to Kehua. For some reason, Kehua gave him a sense of safety and even a bit of reliance.
Kehua pointed to the area ahead and said, "Here, you need to learn how to hide. Because during an assassination, you might have to kill someone among millions. However, sometimes you will need to release the Spiritual Energy within your body, so at that moment, you need to use hiding techniques to confuse the opponent's senses."
Then Kehua continued, "In the center of the area, there is a different Scarecrow. Although it has only subtle differences from the other Scarecrows, you need to identify it and act differently. If you get it right, I will activate one of the Spells, and then that different Scarecrow will attack you. The only way for you to avoid the attack is to evade and make it unable to identify you!"
"That's easy!" As soon as Kehua finished speaking, Lingfeng smiled and said, "I often play hide and seek; this is no different from that!"
"Hide and seek?" Kehua showed a puzzled expression.
Seeing Kehua's confusion, Lingfeng exclaimed, "You’ve never played hide and seek before, have you?"
Kehua shook his head, his eyes somewhat dazed.
Lingfeng sighed, thinking that although they possessed extraordinary skills, their childhood had been too dark.
"Hehe, when I have time, I will teach you how to play hide and seek; it's a game that girls often play!" Lingfeng said with a bright smile as he patted Kehua on the shoulder and then entered the Scarecrow Field.
After passing through rows of Scarecrows, Lingfeng felt he was getting closer to the center and looked inside. In the darkness, those Scarecrows were becoming somewhat blurry, making it even harder to find the differences among them.
Lingfeng sighed and moved further in; at that moment, one of the Scarecrows caught his attention.
