As soon as Hezi finished speaking, everyone curiously looked at Lingfeng, wondering what abilities this young man might possess. Since he had not reached the realm of Demon Cultivation, how could his abilities surpass theirs?
Lingfeng also looked at the crowd. Although there were distinctions in status here, those at the back did not necessarily have lower cultivation levels. The hierarchy among them was determined by the order of joining the sect. Hezi was the founder of the Alliance, so his position was naturally elevated. The burly man in the first seat was the first to join, thus earning that seat. The others who joined later might not be inferior to Lingfeng in terms of cultivation.
"Since the Five Element Hero possesses exceptional skills, why not show us a demonstration? It would certainly entertain us!" said the red-haired man in the third seat.
Lingfeng glanced at him and then at Hezi.
"Oh," Hezi smiled and said to Lingfeng, "This is my Third Brother, known as Red-Haired Demon. The one in the first seat is my eldest brother, called Dragon Slayer, and the one in the second seat is my second brother, known as Dark Night Chaser!" Hezi introduced everyone to Lingfeng.
Lingfeng did not memorize all their names; he noticed that they were all nicknames related to demons or immortals and chuckled, "It seems I have arrived in a place where everyone is either a ghost or a deity!" He then looked at Dragon Slayer and remarked, "And there's even a dragon here!"
Dragon Slayer grunted in displeasure, still unhappy with Lingfeng, turning his head away and biting into the meat fiercely.
"Five Element Hero, what do you think?" Red-Haired Demon asked again.
Lingfeng rolled up his sleeves, stood up, and walked to the center. "This is good! However, I must clarify that I do not possess exceptional skills; I only have a few spells!" With that, he waved his right hand lightly. The flame of the candle on Dragon Slayer's table flickered gently before transforming into a slender line of fire that flew into Lingfeng's hand.
Everyone held their breath as they watched the line of fire in Lingfeng's hand slowly shrink into a ball until it was about the size of an egg.
"Indeed impressive," Red-Haired Demon suddenly exclaimed. "In my lifetime, this is the first time I've witnessed a fire-controlling Demon Cultivator. The Five Element Hero truly keeps his talents hidden!"
Lingfeng laughed heartily, thinking it would be good to let them see something impressive. Then he let the fireball in his hand slowly drop fragments like flames, revealing a Firebird inside.
"This..." Red-Haired Demon murmured, unsure what spell this was.
Dragon Slayer had seen it before; the spell Lingfeng used was indeed Fire Phoenix.
"Fly!" Lingfeng shouted, and the Fire Phoenix screeched, its head emerging from within before suddenly spreading its wings and taking flight.
"Great!" The crowd erupted in applause, looking at Lingfeng with newfound respect.
Lingfeng felt even prouder; he loved showcasing his abilities like this.
Hezi nodded with a smile, quietly watching Lingfeng.
The Fire Phoenix summoned by Lingfeng couldn't stay for long. Just as Lingfeng felt it was about to vanish, he quickly recalled the Fire Phoenix.
"Is this the legendary Fire Phoenix Soars?" Red-Haired Demon asked, cupping his fists slightly as he saw Lingfeng sit down.
"Forgive me for showing off, but yes, this is indeed Fire Phoenix Soars!" Lingfeng replied without hesitation.
As soon as Lingfeng finished speaking, the crowd cast doubtful glances at him. Red-Haired Demon's expression shifted slightly before he asked, "Are the Five Element Brothers disciples of Spirit Sect?"
"Yes, I am indeed a disciple of Spirit Sect!"
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, everyone drew their weapons and glared fiercely at Lingfeng.
Lingfeng remained calm; he knew these people held grievances against Spirit Sect. He also understood that Hezi didn't care about this. What he needed now was strong manpower; only with sufficient personnel could they compete with Spirit Sect.
Hezi's expression changed slightly as a swirl of purple Spiritual Energy enveloped him. The Spiritual Energy seemed to dance around the crowd like a ghost, and then there was a clattering sound as all their weapons fell to the ground.
"Big brother..." Red-Haired Demon called out in confusion.
Hezi slightly raised his hand, signaling the Red-Haired Demon to be quiet. "We are all Demon Cultivators; why should we exclude each other? The Five Element Brothers may be disciples of the Spirit Sect, but they possess a strong sense of justice. Our Alliance has just been established, and what we need are heroes like the Five Element Brothers. You don't need to worry about it!"
"But big brother," the Red-Haired Demon said angrily, "didn't we swear at the founding of the Alliance that we would never coexist with the Spirit Sect?"
"Oaths are dead, but people are alive. Are we supposed to live our whole lives relying on oaths?" Hezi retorted.
Lingfeng sat quietly, pondering to himself, "This Hezi is indeed not a good person. A truly righteous individual would regard their oath as their life, yet he can easily abandon the oath made with his brothers. I really don't understand how he manages to keep these people so loyal to him."
Hezi's words were like a decree; no one dared to say anything further. They could only glare at Lingfeng resentfully before storming out.
Lingfeng didn't care and simply ate a bit more.
"My brothers have such personalities; I hope the Five Element Hero won't take offense!" Hezi said somewhat awkwardly.
Lingfeng waved his hand nonchalantly, his cheeks stuffed with food, and said, "It's fine, it's fine. I won't take this little matter to heart!"
After eating for a while longer, Lingfeng felt full and found the banquet rather dull, so he took Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao back to their residence.
Once back at the residence, Lingfeng sat thoughtfully in a chair, watching Jiao Jiao and Fei Fei as they arranged the bedding.
"Master, the bed is ready; please rest!" Fei Fei stood beside Lingfeng with her hands clasped in front of her chest, looking like a maid.
Lingfeng glanced at the two with a serious expression and said, "From now on, don't call me master; I'm allergic to that term!"
The two were taken aback but showed no expression.
Women like them are mostly trained from a young age and are conditioned to have little emotion. However, deep within their hearts often lies a secret they are unwilling to reveal, and it is this secret that leads them to feel despair about the world.
Yet, they are not beyond saving; if someone can touch the wounds in their hearts and provide timely comfort, they can help them regain the emotions that belong to them.
Lingfeng stood up, walked around the room, then suddenly turned to the two who had their heads down and said, "My name is Wuxing. From now on, you can call me Wuxing. Do you remember?"
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao looked up at Lingfeng and then slightly bent their knees to respond, "Yes, we remember!"
However, Lingfeng was not satisfied with their response and added, "In the past, you followed Hezi's orders, but now you are mine, so you must follow my rules!"
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao exchanged glances but showed no signs of surprise, as if they had anticipated this.
Lingfeng stood with hands behind her back, quietly gazing at the ceiling, creating an atmosphere of intense silence and tension. Just when the entire room felt stiflingly oppressive, Lingfeng thundered, "Here, there are no masters or servants, no hierarchy, no obedience or disobedience—only family!" Lingfeng repeated "no" three times, which left Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao looking bewildered.
"Heh..." Lingfeng returned to her usual demeanor, set out two chairs, and forcibly seated both of them.
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were unsure of what trick Lingfeng was playing; however, she was the first to treat them this way. Previously, Hezi would often give them away as gifts to please others. After satisfying those people, Hezi would think of ways to reclaim them.
Thus, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were repeatedly sent back and forth as if they had become Hezi's toys for pleasing others. The people who received them usually only wanted their comfort; none had ever treated them like Lingfeng did. Although she was unruly, her thoughtfulness made them feel somewhat unaccustomed.
The two sat in the chairs as if they had been electrocuted, twisting about awkwardly and feeling very uncomfortable.
"You don't need to be nervous. Right now, I just want to be honest with you: I will never obey Hezi. I don't care whether you are spies placed beside me by Hezi or whether you were sent here to seduce me; I don't care about any of that. What I want is for you to be well."
Both of them kept their heads down, trembling slightly. It seemed there was something in Lingfeng's expression that could shock them; if they looked at her even once, they would feel shaken.
Lingfeng pushed open the window, and a refreshing breeze swept in, filling the entire room with a pleasant fragrance.
Previously, Lingfeng had observed this house, and aside from Lingfeng's own bedroom, there were no other bedrooms. Hezi's intention was to have Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao use their beauty to entice Lingfeng.
However, Lingfeng was not interested in Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao; after all, he had seen women more beautiful than both of them.
"I will be practicing tonight; you can sleep in the room," Lingfeng said, not wanting to develop any relationship with them, and he walked out of the room.
The entire night, Lingfeng sat in a pavilion surrounded by flowers for cultivation, but due to his cautious nature, he was unable to enter a meditative state. Meanwhile, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao remained quiet, and the candlelight in the room burned throughout the night.
The next morning, as dawn broke with a faint light. Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao finally emerged from the room and went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Lingfeng also arrived at the kitchen. He wondered if his words from last night had touched them or caused any wavering in their feelings. So he took the opportunity of fetching water to sneak a glance at the two of them, only to find that their eyes were both red.
"Did you not sleep?" Lingfeng asked with concern as he followed behind them.
The two hurriedly shook their hands and wiped them on their aprons, smiling as they replied, "No!"
"We were worried about you being outside alone at night, so we took turns watching you from the window!" Jiao Jiao said as she set down her work with a smile.
