Wanshitong felt fear towards the other eight states, and Lingfeng understood the reason behind it. However, he believed that if he could leverage the power of the Demon Subduing Continent to explain things to the cultivators, perhaps some non-hostile Demon Cultivators would still be accepted.
"Big brother, not all cultivators are as you think! Moreover, the leader of the Demon Suppression Sect and the Peak Masters of the Five Peaks are all good people; they treat everyone equally!" Lingfeng said patiently.
Wanshitong huffed in frustration and replied, "How do you know they are that good? Have you dealt with them?"
"Well..." Lingfeng hesitated, unsure if he should reveal his true identity now. He paused, not knowing how to explain it to him.
"Child, with the current tense situation in the Cultivation Realm, it's best for you to stay well in the Mandala Demon Continent. Otherwise, if you get caught by a cultivator, you will definitely have no way out!" Seeing Lingfeng's expression darken, Wanshitong took a step back and said kindly.
Although Wanshitong had high cultivation, he still harbored fear towards those powerful cultivators.
Lingfeng thought for a moment and smiled, saying, "Big brother, since you don't want to come with me, I can only go to the Demon Subduing Continent by myself. However, I hope you can still do divination for me every time!"
"Why?" Wanshitong asked in confusion.
Lingfeng sighed lightly, creating a scene of a hero departing without return. "If I don't have you by my side, my comfort will lack a bit of assurance. So I want to ask you to do divination for me every time. That way, if anything unexpected happens, you can set up a memorial for me so that I can have a resting place after death!"
Lingfeng's words seemed like a farewell from life and death. Wanshitong felt a lump in his throat and tears immediately flowed down his face.
"You brat..." After sobbing for a while, Wanshitong suddenly wiped away his tears and scolded affectionately yet angrily, "Fine! I'll go with you!"
While Wanshitong was crying, Lingfeng was secretly laughing to himself, thinking that this tactic really worked. He then wiped a bit of tears from his cheek and turned around quickly to tightly hug Wanshitong, saying, "Big brother, I knew you were the best for me!" Afterward, he made a face behind Wanshitong's back.
As Wanshitong wiped his tears away, he sighed, "I really don't know what kind of karma I accumulated in my past life to end up meeting you."
"Hehe, big brother, just follow me. I promise you won't suffer even a bit of harm. But I'm curious; are you really afraid of those cultivators?" Although Wanshitong had explained his reasons for not going to the Demon Subduing Continent, Lingfeng still found it somewhat suspicious. No matter what, Wanshitong was someone with profound cultivation; how could he easily feel fear?
"Ah, let's not dwell on those words. By the way, we should set off early; after all, if it's a blessing, it's not a curse, and if it's a curse, it can't be avoided!" With that, Wan Shitong took out a dagger and threw it into the air, which transformed into a Flying Sword.
Lingfeng shouted and leaped onto the Flying Sword. Wan Shitong followed closely behind, and a purple sword light swiftly flew towards the Demon Subduing Continent.
To reach the Demon Subduing Continent from the Barbarian Lands, one must pass through four states: Mandala Demon Continent, Divine Fork Yang State, Dharma Sanctuary, and Sumeru State.
Among them, everyone is already familiar with Mandala Demon Continent, so there is no need for further details. Divine Fork Yang State is a region that worships the Sun God; its people firmly believe they are the Sun God's subjects and have absolute faith in Him. Most of the inhabitants can use basic Fire Control Techniques but are mostly skilled in using fire to create formations. From above, the entire Divine Fork Yang State resembles a vast plain scorched by flames, bathed in fiery red.
Dharma Sanctuary and Sumeru State both practice Buddhism; however, Dharma Sanctuary focuses on personal cultivation and does not differ much from ordinary cultivators. In contrast, Sumeru State emphasizes enlightenment; monks practicing here pay great attention to their self-cultivation, hoping to achieve Buddhahood through sudden realization.
As Lingfeng accompanied Wan Shitong on the Flying Sword, he gazed down at everything below. Although they were high in the sky and could not see clearly, each state's scenery was distinct and vast, truly breathtaking for Lingfeng.
Wan Shitong flew with Lingfeng throughout the night. By now, they had passed through Mandala Demon Continent and reached the central area of Divine Fork Yang State.
At this moment, it was still early evening. However, Lingfeng had spent the entire night eating, drinking, and resting on the Flying Sword. Although some issues were resolved, he still felt quite uncomfortable.
"Big Brother, I think we should rest here for a bit!" Lingfeng said with some fatigue as he began to plead.
Wan Shitong looked down and saw that the vast plain was a bright red color as if painted by the sunlight. Realizing they had arrived at Divine Fork Yang State, he said to Lingfeng, "We can only rest in an uninhabited area; we absolutely must not disturb the local residents' lives!"
Lingfeng impatiently exclaimed in frustration, "Do you still not trust me? Do I seem like someone who would casually disturb others' lives?"
Wan Shitong looked at Lingfeng with disdain and retorted as if opening a jar of vinegar, "If it weren't for you, I would still be living peacefully in Niujia Village. Aren't you supposed to be someone who doesn't disturb others?"
Feeling guilty, Lingfeng chuckled awkwardly twice before countering defensively, "Big Brother, that's not fair! You voluntarily came to find me; how can you blame me for disturbing your life?"
Although Wan Shitong was also quick-witted, he had willingly sought out Lingfeng. Since he couldn't gain the upper hand in this argument either, he sighed helplessly. He then carefully observed a landing spot and suddenly dove down without informing Lingfeng.
Lingfeng was taken aback by the sudden descent of Wan Shitong, and in the midst of the chaos, his feet had already left the gravitational pull of Flying Sword, plummeting headfirst towards the ground.
“Little brother, this is very dangerous!” Wan Shitong saw Lingfeng falling first and thought it was intentional, so he hurriedly warned him.
Lingfeng sighed in despair and began to shout in panic.
Hearing Lingfeng's cries, Wan Shitong felt a surge of excitement, thinking that this dive would surely be fun. He chuckled a couple of times, recited an Incantation, transformed Flying Sword back into a dagger, and followed Lingfeng downwards.
“Big brother, if you’re not going to save me, why are you following me?” Lingfeng asked in confusion as he noticed Wan Shitong right behind him.
But Wan Shitong was too busy enjoying himself to pay attention to Lingfeng's words, shouting with glee.
Seeing this situation, Lingfeng felt utterly hopeless; it seemed this guy was truly reckless. With a helpless shake of his head, Lingfeng straightened his body and let his Spiritual Energy flow throughout him before utilizing his flying ability.
At that moment, Lingfeng was at least twenty miles above the ground, and his flying limit was also twenty miles, so he managed to reach the ground just in time. Meanwhile, Wan Shitong had already settled down on the ground, waiting for Lingfeng's descent.
“Little brother, you lost!” Wan Shitong exclaimed happily as he saw Lingfeng fall from the sky.
Lingfeng forced a smile and said with amusement, “If it weren't for my flying ability, I would have been killed by you long ago!” He then ignored Wan Shitong's confusion and took a look around at the scenery.
At that moment, they were in a Basin, which appeared to be a dry pool. The parched ground was all fiery red, as if they were standing on a gigantic furnace.
“Big brother, is this really Divine Fork Yang State?” Lingfeng could hardly believe his eyes. Although it looked fiery red from above, he believed there must be some areas that were not this color. However, to his surprise, every inch of land here was indeed fiery red except for the trees.
Wan Shitong did not directly answer Lingfeng's question but instead found a large tree to lie under and propped his feet up. He told Lingfeng, “Don’t ask too many questions; just rest up. Once you’ve calmed your mind, we’ll continue our journey!”
Wan Shitong's actions puzzled Lingfeng, as he seemed reluctant to stay here.
"Big Brother, you seem a bit afraid of this place. Is there something you can't talk about?" Lingfeng's curiosity surged again, and he couldn't help but lean over to ask Wan Shitong.
Wan Shitong let out a muffled grunt and then turned over, warningly saying, "I've told you not to ask too much. Once we've rested enough, we'll continue our journey!"
Lingfeng felt disheartened and couldn't help but stick out his tongue.
In fact, Lingfeng didn't really need to rest. Ever since reaching Post-Illumination, his physical strength had significantly increased, and such short flights no longer made him feel uncomfortable. It was just that being on the Flying Sword without eating or drinking, and having filled his stomach with cool air, made him truly miss the taste of wild game.
So, after Wan Shitong fell asleep, Lingfeng's craving grew stronger, and he climbed out of the Basin.
Surrounding the Basin was a stretch of forest. Just like the red soil here, those trees were also red, and they were quite unusual; Lingfeng didn't recognize any of them.
"These trees look really strange. I wonder if the wild game here is tasty!" Without thinking too much, Lingfeng casually summoned a stone from Xuanji, preparing to search for some wild game.
Although this place was called the land of the Sun God, it wasn't as hot as one might imagine. On the contrary, in the forest, the sunlight had been absorbed by the trees, and with the gaps between them creating gentle breezes along with the fragrance of plants, it made Lingfeng feel quite comfortable.
However, what puzzled Lingfeng was that despite the lushness of the forest, he hadn't found a single animal.
Lingfeng continued deeper into the forest, but even after walking further in, there was still no sign of any animals; not even a bird or an insect could be seen.
