Lingfeng entered the Blazing Hell and, with the help of the Fire Phoenix, found a cave hidden within the Fire Sea.
At this moment, Lingfeng had already ventured deep into the cave, and its dimensions began to change, allowing Lingfeng to move freely.
After walking several dozen meters further in, the cave suddenly turned a corner, leading to another side.
Although there were no flames burning inside the cave, it was poorly ventilated, causing Lingfeng to feel a bit suffocated. Impatiently wiping away sweat, he continued onward.
After taking a few more steps, Lingfeng's eyes suddenly brightened as he arrived at a spacious hall.
However, this hall lacked any furniture such as tables and chairs and felt incredibly eerie, resembling the entrance of an ancient tomb. At the other end of the hall was a small stone door, above which was painted the Sun Pattern used by Elder Yang during his rituals.
"Could the Fire Protection Formation be here?" Lingfeng thought with excitement as he hurried toward the door.
But things were far from simple. Just as Lingfeng reached the middle of the hall, he heard a series of chattering mouse sounds.
These sounds were completely different from the previous cries of the Fire Mouse; they were somewhat muffled and sounded like those of an Elder Fire Mouse.
"Could this be the council chamber of the Elder Fire Mouse?" Lingfeng thought humorously. However, he did not dare to let his guard down because Elder Fire Mice were close to transforming into human forms and could potentially reach unexpected realms. Thus, these Fire Mice could easily kill Lingfeng if they chose to.
Lingfeng took a couple of breaths and looked around. There was little light in the surroundings, and the corners were pitch black; he could only vaguely discern objects through the flickering firelight coming from outside.
Then, Lingfeng took out an Illumination Talisman from his Xuanji. After reciting an incantation, the talisman emitted a bright light that gradually illuminated the area around him.
At that moment, Lingfeng discovered that those chattering sounds were actually coming from some Fire Mice. The Fire Mice were bared teeth and standing against the wall.
These Fire Mice clearly belonged to a higher class because they were plump and appeared somewhat comical.
"I never expected that even Fire Mice have become corrupt these days!" Lingfeng shook his head and chuckled.
The Fire Mice crouched in the corner, merely watching Lingfeng silently without taking a step forward.
"Behave yourselves; otherwise, I'll show you what I can do!" Lingfeng glanced at the Fire Mice nonchalantly as he walked toward the door.
However, every time Lingfeng approached the door a little, the bodies of the Fire Mice would tremble violently, as if Lingfeng was getting closer to something they cared about deeply.
But Lingfeng did not notice any of this, as his focus was entirely on the Fire Protection Formation.
Having passed through the hall, Lingfeng arrived in front of a door adorned with a sun-shaped pattern.
The stone door was made from a single piece of stone, with no gaps on either side, as if it were completely integrated with the surrounding wall. Lingfeng curiously pushed against the stone door, but it did not budge at all and showed no signs of response.
"That's strange; there's only this one door here. Did I take a wrong turn again?" Lingfeng looked around and saw that aside from this somewhat door-like structure, the surrounding walls were all uneven stones.
Lingfeng tried knocking on the stone door again, and to his surprise, it produced a hollow sound. This indicated that there was indeed space behind the stone door.
"Since that's the case, I might as well smash this stone door open!" Lingfeng stepped back a few paces, spat into his palm, and pulled out the Connecting Rod from behind him. He then gathered all his strength and prepared to strike the stone door.
However, before Lingfeng could act, a hoarse cry suddenly echoed from the middle of the hall, followed by terrified squeaks from some Fire Mice.
Lingfeng quickly turned around and found that the Fire Phoenix had appeared in the hall, facing off against those Fire Mice who were hunched over with cunning expressions.
"I see now; you Fire Mice were planning to ambush me!" Lingfeng realized suddenly. The earlier behavior of those Fire Mice pretending to be innocent was merely a distraction to divert his attention while they planned to attack him when he wasn't looking.
But they hadn’t anticipated that the Fire Phoenix, which had been guarding outside, sensed Lingfeng's excitement and was drawn into the cave by his emotional fluctuations.
Lingfeng glanced at the Fire Mice behind the Fire Phoenix, stuck out his tongue, and laughed, "You little mice! I thought you were all honest creatures; I didn't expect you to resort to an ambush!" He then looked at the Fire Phoenix and instructed, "Keep an eye on them for me; I'm going to smash this stone door!" With that, Lingfeng prepared to break open the stone door.
All of Lingfeng's actions were observed by the Fire Mice. Just as he was about to strike, it seemed as if they saw water after being parched; sensing their lives were at stake, they became agitated and disregarded the threat posed by the Fire Phoenix as they rushed towards both the Fire Phoenix and Lingfeng.
Without hesitation, the Fire Phoenix unleashed a torrent of flames from its mouth in an attempt to drive back the Fire Mice. However, it did not expect that the Fire Mice could swiftly close in on it despite its fiery assault.
The Fire Phoenix primarily wielded fire as its weapon, yet these Fire Mice showed no fear whatsoever.
Seeing that the Fire Phoenix's method of combat was ineffective and only emboldened the Fire Mice further, Lingfeng couldn't help but slap his forehead in frustration.
"No way, it seems you are not suited for battle in this situation!" Lingfeng did not dare to delay and immediately transformed the Fire Phoenix into a wisp of blue smoke.
Some Fire Mice fell to the ground, momentarily stunned. They had not yet figured out what was happening; they thought they could feast on the big bird's meat, only to find that the big bird had vanished in an instant.
Seeing the Fire Mice dazed, Lingfeng quickly swung the Connecting Rod and struck at the center of the Fire Mice. With a loud crash, the stones in the middle of the Fire Mice turned to rubble.
The Fire Mice, seeing Lingfeng's display of power, were startled and scattered in all directions. However, when they saw Lingfeng stop his assault, they attempted to rush forward to attack him.
Lingfeng couldn't help but laugh at these mindless Fire Mice. While using Gold Manipulation, he transformed the Gravel into sharp projectiles that attacked the Fire Mice like shotgun pellets, mocking them as he said, "You fools! You can use fire spells but choose not to!"
Unexpectedly, it seemed that the Fire Mice understood Lingfeng's words. After dodging his attack, instead of recklessly charging at him again, they crouched down and opened their mouths wide, shooting slender fire rockets at Lingfeng.
Lingfeng remained calm. Although those rockets were powerful enough to turn him into a sieve, he was also a practitioner of Five Elemental Spells. He had long been prepared; not only could he use Fire Control Technique, but there were plenty of stones on the ground for him to manipulate with Gold Manipulation.
"Stone Shield!"
Lingfeng spread his arms and shouted. The stones on the ground quickly formed an impenetrable stone wall that blocked the fire rockets shot by the Fire Mice.
"I don't have time to waste with you!" Before the Fire Mice could break through the stone wall, Lingfeng turned around and raised the Connecting Rod, gathering most of his True Qi in his arms before smashing it toward the stone door.
With another loud crash, the entire stone cave trembled as if it were about to collapse.
The Fire Mice nervously looked up at the cave ceiling and no longer dared to trouble Lingfeng. They turned and ran toward the cave entrance, disappearing without a trace.
Lingfeng felt his arms go numb as the Connecting Rod fell to the ground with a thud.
Just now, Lingfeng had not used Spiritual Energy; he relied solely on his martial arts realm's True Qi. Under normal circumstances, with just his True Qi and the level of the Connecting Rod, he could crush a stone weighing hundreds of pounds. However, now it felt as if the stone door was made of water; it not only remained intact but showed no signs of damage whatsoever.
Lingfeng couldn't help but gasp. Even Diamond might not possess such hardness. Moreover, judging from the sound coming from inside, he could easily determine that this stone door was not thick.
"Could this be Superior Stone?" Lingfeng murmured to himself.
In the Mortal Realm, the hardest stone is recognized as Diamond. However, there exists another type of stone outside, which is hundreds of times harder than Diamond; this is known as Superior Stone.
The term "Stone" is what the Cultivation Realm uses to refer to this type of stone, which, as the name suggests, is a stone that descends from above.
However, there are many types of stones, and not all stones are incredibly hard. This particular hard stone is quite rare and can even be considered legendary.
Hard stones are excellent materials for refining Celestial Weapons; at the very least, they can produce low-grade Celestial Weapons. If refined by a high-level celestial being, they can yield high-quality Celestial Weapons.
For example, the Ivory Bone Knife was crafted by Master Qing of the Demon Suppression Sect after he attained immortality. However, since he had only recently become immortal and his celestial energy was still shallow, he could only refine it into a low-grade Celestial Fruit.
Lingfeng had never seen a true Superior Stone, so he could not determine whether what lay before him was indeed a high-quality stone. Lingfeng also did not believe he would have such good fortune, as many cultivators and Demon Cultivators in the Cultivation Realm were searching far and wide for high-quality stones to forge superior weapons. Yet, very few had actually found Superior Stone.
Nevertheless, it is better to believe in its existence than to doubt it. Although Lingfeng did not recognize this stone, it did not mean it was not Superior Stone. Thus, Lingfeng decided to take the stone back with him.
Taking a light breath, Lingfeng summoned the Ivory Bone Knife from Xuanji. He stepped back a few paces and then with a flash of his hands, the Ivory Bone Knife transformed into a beam of light, slicing through the heat waves and spinning rapidly towards the stone door.
Several beams of spiritual light flickered on the stone door as the Ivory Bone Knife seemed to cut through it like tofu—silent and effortless.
Lingfeng squinted his eyes, skillfully maneuvering the Ivory Bone Knife with his right hand. After a moment, he flicked his fingers, and the Ivory Bone Knife spun back into his hand.
Lingfeng exhaled lightly and placed the Ivory Bone Knife back into Xuanji, quietly observing the stone door with confidence. It was as if time paused for a moment; suddenly, several crisscrossing lines reflected on the stone door before it appeared to split apart as if it had been violently torn apart.
