"Did I not know that I could reach such a level?"
In this world, everything was fresh and curious to her. Whether it was the magical scenery or the extraordinary warriors, she felt a deep sense of wonder about this world.
Sometimes she thought that if she were to break away from her father, she might not settle in one place but would travel everywhere, seeking out unknown and unvisited places.
Of course, this idea had no feasible conditions at present, but it was already deeply buried in her heart.
After letting her mind wander for a while and realizing it was getting late, she finally crawled into her tent.
...
Two days later.
The caravan of six carriages finally exited Sikou Prairie.
The once endless grassland now revealed low shrubs in the distance.
"We're about to leave the prairie! We might reach Daqier City this afternoon," Baron shouted back to the group behind him.
Most people breathed a sigh of relief at this news, their faces breaking into smiles.
It was important to note that during their time here, they had encountered bandits no less than five or six times, and two of those encounters happened while they were eating. The feeling of having to fight right after starting a meal left everyone extremely frustrated.
As a result, they showed no mercy during the battles, directly crushing the bandits before they even reached them.
They had certainly witnessed the number of bandits in Sikou Prairie.
As for their relaxed mood, the members of Chabrol cheered loudly. After leaving the grasslands, Deng Liwei repeatedly assured them that all expenses for their convoy in Daqier City would be reimbursed by Chabrol.
By the afternoon.
After passing through a grove of trees, two massive black fortresses appeared in the distance.
On either side of the fortresses extended a high black wall that seemed endless.
In the middle of the fortress was an open white wooden door, with several guards dressed in white Leather Armor lazily standing on either side, showing no concern for the passing vehicles and pedestrians.
"Is this Daqier City?" Freya curiously looked at the enormous city before her, feeling a bit more comfortable with the moist sea breeze.
"Yes, once we enter here, we are in the outer city. Daqier City is not very strict about entering; it's just that leaving by sea requires various checks," Baron smiled, clearly having some knowledge about Daqier City.
"For ordinary people, it might take about a week, but with those guys helping us, it should be faster."
Freya nodded and glanced at the white carriage at the back of their convoy. When they first spotted Daqier City, one of the swordsmen had already entered the city, seemingly to notify their family.
The large convoy of six carriages slowly drove through the city gate. Indeed, the guards on either side only glanced over before not asking any further questions.
Freya raised an eyebrow at this; the guards did not seem like mere slackers based on their posture and behavior. They treated her fully armed group with indifference as well. No, it seemed that everyone in this city shared a similar demeanor—there was no sense of crisis, and an atmosphere of peace and tranquility permeated everywhere.
This felt strangely unreal to Freya, who had just come from a war-torn area.
The convoy successfully entered the city.
The flow of people began to increase, and gradually, some houses and shops became visible around.
The streets of Daqier City were very clean, as if they were maintained by dedicated cleaners. As the convoy moved forward, various stalls appeared along the sides of the road, selling items like vegetables and fruits, with the most peculiar sea products being the most popular.
As Freya observed the unfamiliar city like a tourist, she felt her eyes were not enough to take in everything, and others who had just entered the city felt similarly.
Only Baron and Howard Bailey, who had been here before, remained relatively calm.
By chance, Freya spotted a unique humanoid among the crowd.
It was a tall humanoid being with blue skin, dressed in ordinary linen clothes. Its facial features were similar to those of an ordinary person, but it had only two holes where its ears should be. There were three distinct indentations near its neck, and its pupils were quite large.
"Is that a Sea Tribe?" Freya curiously looked at the being; this was her first time seeing an intelligent non-human creature.
"Yes! That is a Sea People." Seeing Freya's expression, Baron appeared unfazed and pointed into the distance.
"You find it strange now, but if you stay here long enough, you'll realize that aside from their living habits, they are actually not much different from ordinary people. In fact, in the Noble District, there are more Sea People than humans."
"There are many Sea People here?" Freya blinked in surprise.
It seemed that the rumor about Salko being a vassal state of the Sea Tribe was not just baseless gossip.
While they were talking, a group of swordsmen clad in white leather armor rode quickly toward them from a distance.
Each of them had a round badge resembling a dock on their left chest, and leading them was the swordsman who had previously delivered the message. It appeared to be the Shabrol Family's guard team.
The group led by Deng Liwei saw the newcomers and their faces lit up with joy as they waved from a distance.
Ignoring Freya and the others, the swordsmen rode past their convoy towards Chabrol's carriage at the back.
Baron merely frowned slightly at this somewhat rude behavior but did not say anything.
Soon, Sister Freya exited the carriage in tears of joy. One tall and handsome swordsman quickly dismounted and embraced her and the child in her arms, his face radiating happiness.
Freya quietly watched the reunion. Once their emotions stabilized, Deng Liwei, standing nearby, began to explain something to the swordsman while pointing towards their convoy.
Following Deng Liwei's direction, the swordsman scanned their group with keen eyes before nodding slightly to Baron at the front of the convoy as a greeting.
Then he turned back, kissed Sister Freya, and mounted his horse again, leading two carriages as they slowly circled around their convoy and departed, leaving Deng Liwei behind.
"Is this how they treat their saviors?" Freya frowned at the swordsman who had no intention of conversing with them, a hint of displeasure in her eyes.
Hearing Freya's words, Baron shook his head dismissively. "This was expected. Although we saved them, we also had our own needs. Our identities are unclear, so they have no reason to get too involved with us. This has always been a mutually understood transaction."
