The light and shadow in the haze danced around her body, surrounded by countless tiny colored particles in her blurred vision.
"What is this? Where am I?" Her sluggish brain tried to make sense of the situation. "Right, I was captured by the Sea People... then the Blue Light... that Pendant?"
Just as she attempted to delve deeper into her thoughts, a strong, tearing pain surged through her brain.
"Ugh..."
A hoarse sound escaped her throat. As her mind began to clear, her body felt as if it were being torn apart with pain.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes.
What greeted her was not the room of her estate, but a strange bedroom.
She tried to turn her neck and noticed a maid in a white servant's outfit sitting on a chair beside her, resting.
Perhaps hearing her soft groan, the maid stirred awake.
When she saw Freya's opened eyes, joy filled her gaze as she immediately stood up and rushed out the door.
"My lady, my lady, that lady has awakened..."
Freya stared blankly at the maid as she hurriedly ran away. She wanted to raise her hand to touch her gradually easing headache but realized that her entire body was wrapped in white bandages except for her face, and there was a strong smell of bitter herbs surrounding her.
A wave of weakness made her frown slightly; however, she soon felt that aside from the weakness, there was nothing seriously wrong with her body. The bones that had once been broken were now miraculously intact.
"It seems that wasn't an illusion..." She breathed a sigh of relief. The feeling of having survived a disaster did not stir any emotions within her; instead, she felt astonished and curious about the mysterious power she had encountered when she was near death.
Those seemingly ordinary Ice Blue Earrings had been found on Philip, yet he never used their powerful abilities until his death.
"Could it be that there are restrictions on how those Earrings can be used? And where did this Pendant come from?"
There are too many questions in her heart that need answers, but her current state does not allow her to do anything.
While lost in thought, the sound of light footsteps came from the doorway.
In Freya's line of sight, a handsome man dressed in a white noble suit walked in with a smile.
"Eluda, you're awake?"
His magnetic voice resembled those idol stars from her past life, and combined with his handsome appearance, it caught Freya off guard. However, the name he used was the alias given to her by Baron, known only to Chabrol's people, which made her feel a bit wary.
"Who are you? How do you know my name? And where is this place?"
Without answering her questions, the man directly pulled up a chair and sat beside the bed.
"None of that is important. Perhaps you've forgotten, but this is our second meeting. The first was in the grand hall of Belham Academy. Do you remember?" His polite tone and demeanor naturally elicited goodwill.
However, Freya sensed that although the man before her had a gentle demeanor, there was an ever-present faint smell of blood about him—a unique scent that only someone who had killed many could possess. From his earlier entrance and behavior, she could tell he was also a master, at least at the mid-level of Knight Level or even peak level.
Yet, the attitude of this super expert towards her seemed to be an intentionally feigned gentleness, which felt particularly strange.
'This is definitely not how he usually is!' she concluded in her mind.
Perhaps sensing Freya's odd gaze upon him, the man's expression stiffened slightly. He then retracted his somewhat affected smile and said helplessly,
"Alright, since Eluda doesn't want to guess, I'll be straightforward. I am Murphy Tefelix; you can just call me Murphy. I am the current lord of Daqier City."
"The lord?"
Freya looked at the handsome and young man before her in surprise, never expecting him to be the lord.
In her impression, a lord who could manage a city in such a war-torn place must be a wise and capable elder, but she never expected him to be so young.
"That's right," she recalled. "When I was escaping from the auditorium at the academy after playing the piano, there was a man in Noble Attire who blocked my way at the door. I didn't expect it to be him."
As if guessing Freya's thoughts, he nodded and continued.
"You are currently in the lord's mansion, and your father along with others moved here three days before you fell unconscious."
"..." Listening to Murphy's account, Freya frowned slightly.
She never expected to have been unconscious for three days, and as for his so-called 'move,' it seemed more like house arrest.
As her mind cleared, combined with what the Sea People had said earlier, she vaguely felt that she had been caught up in a major event, and not just any ordinary event.
"Now that you are awake, I would like to ask..."
At this moment, Murphy's tone took on a somewhat questioning note. Without needing to guess, Freya anticipated his next question and directly interrupted him.
"I don't know anything about the Sea Tribe, nor do I want to know about your matters. I only killed him because I saw him harm my people; that's all!"
Her cold tone carried a firm attitude. For this impolite interruption of his words, Murphy simply gazed deeply into her eyes, his brow furrowing.
"You must understand! The information you possess may relate to the lives of half the human population in Daqier City! You are the one who ultimately killed Oph; don't you want to know?"
The pressure of authority emanated from him, forcing Freya before him.
To be able to slay Oph, the pinnacle of Knight Level, with a single strike was something Murphy actually admired about the girl before him. At least if he were to face Oph, it would take considerable effort to achieve such a feat.
Moreover, considering the soul-stirring piano piece he had heard earlier, Freya's favorability in his heart was naturally undeniable.
However, the death of Oph is related to the large-scale production trade in the city and also involves the attitude of the Hardliners from the Sea Tribe. All these factors combined forced him to look at her with a cold, hard gaze.
"I have already passed! I don't know any information! If you don't believe me..."
Ignoring the pressure emanating from Murphy, Freya's icy tone seemed capable of freezing anything. A hint of danger slowly radiated from her.
Staring intently at Freya's demeanor, Murphy's brows furrowed even deeper. His lips moved several times, but ultimately he remained silent.
After pondering for a moment, he stood up, took one last deep look at her, and turned to leave.
Watching Murphy's figure until it disappeared from her sight, Freya furrowed her brows and touched her chest. If Murphy had said something else just now, she might have done something unexpected.
This was not her usual behavior; it was driven by the turbulent feeling in her chest that stirred her emotions.
Closing her eyes, she took a few deep breaths to gradually calm the sensation in her chest.
Once she felt she could control her emotions, she opened her eyes and murmured in confusion, "Could it be that the rapid increase in strength has led to this unrest?"
