The senses of beasts are inherently sharper than those of humans, not to mention the lower Demonized Creatures that have mutated due to energy pollution.
Noticing that she had been discovered, Freya stepped out directly from behind the hidden large tree.
The Gray Robe was somewhat cumbersome, so she loosened it, allowing it to drape over her like a cloak, revealing the brown Leather Armor underneath. A faintly cold aura emanated from the runes on the Leather Armor, isolating her from the surrounding temperature.
The mutated Raging Mountain Bear paused slightly upon seeing the girl appear. Instinctively, the beast sensed that the human female before it exuded a very dangerous aura, as if she were an enemy. However, due to its limited intelligence, it did not want to give up the prey it had just hunted. Instead, it remained in place and let out low growls as a warning.
Seeing the actions of the Mutated Berserk Mountain Bear, Freya's continuous Azure Wind Flow was suddenly overshadowed by the raging currents within her.
Her body transformed into a gray-brown afterimage and charged towards the beast.
A red Long Scar suddenly flashed in her hand.
The massive mountain bear could not react in time and was slashed across its back, leaving a long gash. A faint smell of burnt flesh wafted from the wound.
"Roar!!!"
The intense pain caused it to emit a piercing howl, startling a flock of Birds in the forest.
Freya deliberately avoided targeting vital areas; after her strike, she quickly retreated to evade the bear's retaliatory attack from its agony.
"Truly impressive for a Demonized Creature mutated by Fire Element Energy Particles; its resistance to Fire Element Spells is quite remarkable."
Narrowing her eyes slightly, Freya observed the damage she had inflicted on the bear's back. Although the wound was not very deep and did not show significant effects against Spell energy attacks, she was still satisfied with this outcome.
‘Scorching Touch is primarily a contact-type Spell. By using Fire Element Energy Particles crafted into a long whip-like tendril to attack enemies, it possesses considerable power. However, due to its nature as a contact-type Spell and its high learning difficulty, along with inherent risks, most apprentices would not choose it. For me, though, this Spell perfectly aligns with my combat style. The whip-like tendril can be enhanced with Basic Knowledge learned from my Enchantment Department. After modification, it can temporarily attach to weapons, increasing Spell power while also inflicting physical damage to amplify overall harm.’
Carefully analyzing the effects of her chosen second Spell, Freya drew out another dagger and simultaneously applied Scorching Touch to it.
With two fiery red daggers in hand, even the low-intelligence brain of the Raging Mountain Bear recognized that the human before it was not something it could contend with. Thus, it chose to retreat while roaring loudly.
"Now. Conducting a secondary Spell effect experiment."
Before long, hoarse roars from the mountain bear echoed through the forest once again.
"What sound is that?"
The group walking along the way suddenly felt a chill in their hearts upon hearing a piercing roar from a distance.
Although this area had already been designated by Elgrinna, it was still not absolutely safe for them, who had yet to become Official Wizards. Some low-level Demonized Creatures of special existence could also pose a danger to them.
"Could it be that Freya encountered something?" Rand said, frowning slightly as he looked at the startled Bird in the sky, feeling somewhat worried.
Even though Freya was not the girl he liked, Rand still admired her. Moreover, this mission was initiated by him, and he felt responsible for the safety of the members.
"From the sound, it seems like a bear's roar..." Nikola analyzed.
"A bear?" Rand turned to look at Nikola, his eyes flashing. "If it's just an ordinary wild animal, that would be fine. But if it's a Demonized Creature... even the lowest-level bear is much more dangerous than other creatures. Freya is only a Second-Class Apprentice..."
"Don't worry. This sound is one that only bears make when they encounter danger. Didn't your All Things Studies mention that?" Lani said lightly, casting a glance at her brother.
Rand rubbed his forehead in silence for a moment before saying, "Regardless, we should hurry up. If there's any danger, we can help."
...
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Two minutes later, Freya stood with one foot on the corpse of the Raging Land Bear, gently skinning off the relatively intact Bear Pelt from its back.
Having spent so long in the Necromancy Department's laboratory, she had become quite skilled at dissection, and some special techniques still bore the influence of her Necromancy Instructor, Leander.
"The Bear Pelt contaminated by Fire Element energy has good Spell resistance and Physical Defense. It's perfect material for making protective Cursed Items. It seems this trip wasn't in vain."
In just a few seconds, Freya had skinned off the Bear Pelt and wrapped it in oil paper to store in her pack.
She then frowned slightly as she looked at the bear's corpse, which was riddled with wounds and scars, feeling regretful.
Although this body had various uses, its size was too large to take with her, so she had no choice but to give up on it.
A faint airflow inadvertently wrapped around her feet as she kicked forcefully at the massive bear corpse, sending it directly into the bushes by the roadside, where it was covered by thick layers of decaying leaves.
Freya also kicked aside the hunter who had been killed by the Mountain Bear earlier.
These corpses would likely be discovered and cleared away by other creatures in the forest shortly.
Gently rubbing her blood-stained Leather Boots on the ground, Freya looked at the road ahead and continued forward.
Through her recent experiment, she not only learned the specific Spell strength and effects of Scorching Touch but also gained an indirect understanding of her current abilities.
If one were to make a comparison, Freya could be said to be standing at the pinnacle of Second-Class Apprentice. Even when facing a Third-Rank Apprentice one-on-one, she would not back down.
It is important to note that a Third-Rank Apprentice is not an Official Wizard. Although they have access to a wider variety of Spells compared to a Second-Class Apprentice, the casting process still requires a certain amount of time.
Without protective stances or other trump cards, as long as she is given a moment to gather her strength, she can easily eliminate any Third-Rank Apprentice within ten seconds.
The explosive aura approaching that of a Great Knight, combined with the effects of Light Wind, has already reached the point where it creates visual afterimages.
She believes that unless it is a targeted Spell or an area effect, no one other than an Official Wizard could capture her position in such a short time. Additionally, the swordsmanship of Stiletto, enhanced by Scorching Touch, has a certain chance of breaking through the energy stances and Spell resistances inherent to these Apprentices.
