"I don't know about that; it's a decision made by the upper family." Rand smiled helplessly and said, "However, I've heard that Abyssal Lake may not only hide Resource Points but also other special things, which is why they chose to confront the academy."
"I see," Freya nodded.
"So, are you interested in going to Abyssal Lake? Now that you've been promoted to Third Rank, I happen to have an extra spot available," Rand said with a smile.
"Me? I'd rather not," Freya replied lightly. "I'm just an apprentice without any background. I don't want to get involved in the place that the academy's families have divided up."
"Heh, if you join Benifen, you'd have some background too, but you don't want to," Rand shrugged.
Freya didn't argue with Rand's words and quickly finished the food in her hands before standing up.
"Alright, take your time eating. I have some matters to attend to."
She had just been promoted to Third Rank apprentice, and her mental strength needed some time to stabilize. However, her current mental strength was already sufficient for her to cast most Zero-Level Spells, and there was still a lot of new Basic Knowledge she needed to learn. If it weren't for meeting Rand, she wouldn't have bothered coming to the academy cafeteria at all.
Just as she was about to leave, Rand suddenly called out to her.
"Oh, right! I forgot to tell you that Aishebun's betrayal to Serpent's Tooth Tower has been confirmed. He even wrote your name on the bounty list at Serpent's Tooth Tower's Mission Board, with a price of twenty Magic Stones. The deadline is one year. If you have nothing going on during this time, it's best not to venture into the Serpent's Tooth Tower area."
"Twenty Magic Stones?" Upon hearing Rand's words, Freya raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised that Aishebun had listed her as a target. However, after thinking for a moment, she smiled and said, "But isn't Serpent's Tooth Tower itself in opposition to Elgreen?"
"That's true," Rand chuckled as well.
"Then I'll take my leave. See you later."
"See you again."
After greeting Rand, Freya went straight back to her room.
Taking out her key and just about to unlock the door, she suddenly noticed two envelopes, one black and one white, appearing in the mailbox that had been empty beside the door.
Curious, she picked up the two envelopes and closed the door behind her.
Pulling over a chair, she pushed aside the clutter on her desk to clear a space before examining the two envelopes.
She first glanced at the white envelope, which was addressed from Eye of Truth, Aelgreen Wizard Academy. It was addressed to Freya Green. The sender was Francis Buckland.
"Francis Sith?" Freya was somewhat surprised by the name at the end.
This was the name of the sunny boy she had encountered on the ship; she never expected that after so long he still remembered her and even took the time to send her a letter.
Freya clearly recalled that the boy wanted to recruit her into his family, but she had refused at that time.
"Well, this is quite rare."
If it weren't for this letter, she probably would have forgotten about their brief encounter.
However, Freya did not open the white envelope immediately; instead, she picked up the black envelope.
The black envelope had only a few simple letters on its surface. It seemed to be printed on, which made Freya furrow her brow slightly.
"What is this... the apprentice transfer order from the academy?"
Freya gently touched the somewhat rough envelope, on its reverse side was a flickering Black Maple Leaf, indicating the authenticity of the envelope.
She remembered that although there was a treaty in place when she signed the Apprentice Contract, which aligned with the academy's decisions, this requirement could only be considered a verbal agreement. It was specifically aimed at elite apprentices with family backgrounds, and she never expected it to appear before her.
With a puzzled heart, she opened the envelope and quickly scanned the only piece of paper inside.
The text was lengthy but straightforward; it instructed Freya, now a Third-Rank Apprentice, to comply with the requirements of the Apprentice Contract and to be stationed for six months in a human city called Katia.
"What does this mean? A disguised expulsion?" Freya frowned as she looked at the transfer order.
Katia was a relatively prosperous human city, situated far from the war-torn Dias Mountains. However, this area lacked the resources needed by wizards. For some less talented but pleasure-seeking scions of families, it might serve as a retirement spot, but Freya was not one of them. She had just been promoted to Third-Rank Apprentice and received this order; it was evident that someone had acted with intent.
Gently pinching the paper, Freya furrowed her brows.
She currently had substantial compensation from Benifen and would not be troubled by Magic Stones in the short term. However, this moment was her golden period.
"Could it be..." Suddenly, she thought of a possibility. Recently, Rand's overly close behavior towards her might have triggered a reaction from the Benifin Family's rival faction, prompting them to transfer her to such a resource-scarce location during this time.
Although Elgreen seemed calm and could stand firm in the war-torn Dias Mountains, internal strife among several prominent families occurred constantly.
Upon reflection, Freya might indeed be caught up in one of those influences.
"Well, this might not be a bad thing. As far as I know, although resources are scarce in Kadia, they are not entirely absent. Moreover, there seem to be other wizard organizations near that city. Given that I've recently acquired so much knowledge, I need to find a quiet place to organize it properly."
Although she still felt a bit uncomfortable inside, she could only choose to accept the academy's arrangements. After all, she was still nominally an apprentice of Elgreen and had previously signed the academy's Contract.
With a slight sigh, she opened another letter from Franc Sith.
"Dear Freya, I apologize for taking so long to write to you due to my family's circumstances. How have you been? I have successfully advanced to Official Wizard with the help of my family's resources, so congratulate me..."
The letter was filled with over ten pages of rambling.
Freya quietly looked at the letter in her hand, somewhat surprised that Franc Sith had become an Official Wizard so quickly. However, upon reading his tone in the letter, he still seemed just like the sunny boy he used to be.
This eased her mood, which had been somewhat gloomy due to the transfer order.
"Alright, you've probably gotten tired of reading so much. My family has now established a Wizard Organization called Eye of Truth along with several other families. Here’s the address; if you're not adapting well in Elgreen, feel free to come visit me. Although our organization is newly established, we still have a solid foundation."
Below was the exact address of Eye of Truth.
However, when Freya saw the location of that address, she was slightly taken aback because it was not very far from Kaitia City. (To be continued...)
