Determined, she quickly took a blue pill from her waist pouch and directly flicked it into the slightly open mouth of the person.
Then, with a pinch of her hands, faint Green Light Spots rapidly gathered. Under Freya's manipulation, these light spots, symbolizing Plant Energy and Energy Particles, slowly covered his body.
"One Blue Lizard Grass Essence is worth three Magic Stones. If you are unclear about the location of the Secret Realm Entrance, then I will extract it directly from your body!"
Watching the Green Light Spots slowly penetrate this person's body, Freya retracted her hands and squinted her eyes as she murmured to herself.
The pill made from Blue Lizard Grass Essence was originally a healing medicine purchased when she left the academy for emergencies. It was something that worked well even for an Official Wizard. Now, she had not taken it herself but used it on an ordinary person. If she did not obtain the desired information, even extracting the essence from his body would greatly reduce its effectiveness.
However, if this person knew the specific location, it would undoubtedly be a great help to Freya.
As the last trace of Green Light Spot completely merged into his body, the previously dull complexion of this person immediately improved, and his weak breathing became steady.
He blinked his eyes, looking dazedly at the hazy girl standing at the foot of the bed, his voice hoarse.
"Where is this? Am I dead? Are you a messenger from the underworld here to take me…"
Hearing his nonsense, Freya's expression instantly darkened. She leaned down and said coldly, "You are not dead! However, if your answer does not satisfy me, you will die in the next second. Now! Look into my eyes!"
The commanding tone compelled him to meet Freya's bright blue eyes. The mental pollution of the Force Field made him feel as if those bright eyes were two deep blue whirlpools, as if his soul was being sucked in!
"Tom…" Freya looked at the dazed young man and slowly uttered his name. "Tell me, where do you usually gather herbs?"
"In… Colt Forest… deep inside…"
"Do you remember if you ever gathered a type of black segmented plant while collecting herbs?" Freya asked another question.
"I remember…"
"Oh?" Hearing his response, Freya's eyes brightened slightly. "Then do you know where you found it? Can you provide a specific location?"
“Which Tom are you referring to?” the woman asked, puzzled.
“Hmm? How many Toms do you have here?” Freya raised an eyebrow.
“There are three. One lives in Town Center, one is the son of the grocery store boss, and the last one went missing while hunting in the forest last month. He hasn’t returned, so he’s probably dead out there.”
“Dead?” Hearing this, Freya frowned slightly. Although she could use information to deduce the way to the Secret Realm Entrance, that method was really inefficient. With good luck, she might find it in seven or eight tries; with bad luck, she would probably have to stay here for a long time.
After thinking for a moment, Freya held onto a glimmer of hope. “Do you know which Tom frequently gathers herbs to sell?”
“Oh, you’re looking for the Tom who lives in Town Center. The only Black Slate House is where he resides, but…” As she said this, the woman’s eyes flickered as she lowered her voice. “I advise you not to seek him out recently.”
“Why?”
“Because… he has offended some people. Last time he was nearly beaten to death. If you go looking for him now, you might get caught up in it too… Those guys are truly ruthless…” The woman perhaps felt it was her duty to warn her since she was just a young girl and single.
“Oh, I understand. Thank you.” Smiling, Freya took out a Silver Coin and handed it to her.
“No need for that; what you gave me earlier is already enough.” The woman quickly pushed back the Silver Coin when she saw it. “Now let me take you to your room.”
Freya didn’t mind and silently put the Silver Coin away, following the woman upstairs.
Perhaps due to the effect of the previous gold coin, Freya could tell that the woman had specifically chosen a room with a better location.
After putting down her useless belongings and resting for a while in the room, Freya ate something before closing the door and leaving the inn.
Following the only road in town, she soon arrived at Town Center, where there indeed stood an exceptionally shabby black Stone House.
The Stone House looked as if it were just a few stone slabs haphazardly pieced together; there was no chimney or windows—only a rectangular wooden door standing there like a peculiar box.
As Freya approached, a strong Herbal Bitterness wafted toward her, reminiscent of the scent from the Herbalist shop in the village, which further confirmed that she had found the right person.
Knock knock knock.
Freya walked up to the Stone House. She knocked on the wooden door, perhaps a bit too hard, causing a crack to form in the already decaying wood with a faint creaking sound.
However, whether it was the sound of the door cracking or Freya's knocking, there seemed to be no response from inside the Stone House.
"Could they just not be home?"
After waiting for a moment, Freya frowned slightly and peered through the crack in the door.
A faint Azure Light enveloped her eyes, gradually illuminating her previously dark vision, allowing her to see inside.
The room was quite spacious, with a dark floor. Besides the strong smell of bitter medicine, there was also a faint musty odor. A pile of what looked like weeds was heaped in one corner of the room, surrounded by some cobwebs. It seemed like it hadn't been disturbed in a long time.
Next to that pile was a square table and chair, on which were some utensils and an oil lamp. Behind the table was a rickety wooden bed, covered with a dirty and greasy blanket, with a human-shaped outline curled up beneath it, motionless.
Freya withdrew her gaze and looked at the tightly shut door before kicking it with one foot.
Bang!
The fragile wooden door was kicked open and fell askew to one side.
Freya strode into the room and noticed that even the sound of the door being kicked open did not stir the person on the bed. This gave her an uneasy feeling.
She circled around the table and reached out to grasp a corner of the blanket. With a swift motion, she lifted it, revealing a young man lying underneath who looked as frail as a skeleton.
His complexion was an unnatural gray, his half-closed eyes devoid of focus, and a faint stench of decay emanated from him. If it weren't for the slight rise and fall of his chest and abdomen, he would have appeared almost dead.
Moreover, Freya noticed that his curled legs were twisted awkwardly, with dried brown bloodstains on them.
"Is he dying?" Freya asked as she looked at the young man on the bed, frowning slightly.
Although she had the means to heal him, it would come at a considerable cost. Additionally, she wasn't sure if this person truly knew about the Secret Realm Entrance or if he had simply stumbled in by chance.
After pondering for a moment, she decided to trust her luck.
"In the southern part of the Jungle Watchtower, there is a place where Snake Ear Grass grows..."
"Jungle Watchtower?" The unfamiliar name puzzled Freya. Most of the information Saradin had given her was from ten years ago, so this Watchtower must have been built in recent years.
However, since the person in front of her knew about it, the next steps would be easier.
Freya looked at the young man who still appeared dazed and finally revealed a faint smile, her voice softening.
"Alright, you're very tired now. Get some sleep, and when you wake up, come find me at the inn."
Her voice seemed to have a magical quality; after hearing Freya's words, the young man slowly closed his eyes, and even breathing sounds began to emerge.
The effects of Azure Lizard Grass were potent; for an ordinary person, it was impossible to absorb it all at once. They could only absorb it slowly through sleep; otherwise, they would suffer greatly while awake.
Watching him gradually fall asleep, Freya felt much better despite losing a pill.
She glanced outside; the sun was gradually setting, around four or five o'clock.
The town, which had been somewhat empty, was now starting to fill with people.
Freya walked out of the Stone House, brushed off the dust on her clothes, and headed toward the inn.
However, as she got closer to the inn, a commotion of shouting and the sound of something breaking came from inside. This made Freya frown slightly.
"...You owe us two months' rent! When do you plan to pay? Or do you want to end up like Tom from Town Center..."
"Hmph, boss, stop wasting time with her! Smash this broken place! If she doesn't pay up, smash it again until she behaves!"
"Smash! Smash!"
Then came the sound of tables and chairs falling over.
As Freya reached the door and heard this, she understood that it seemed to be a group of thugs collecting protection money or something similar. However, this had little to do with her. As someone from the Wizarding World, it was somewhat inappropriate for her to interfere in ordinary people's affairs.
However, as Freya stepped into the inn, she immediately caught the attention of several people inside.
"Wow, it's a rare sight; you still have guests here?" A burly man in black clothing with an open chest pointed at the plump woman and teased, "Since you have a guest, do you dare to be broke?"
The woman being questioned stood there with a frightened expression, saying nothing, while wooden fragments from two chairs lay scattered on the floor.
Freya glanced at the woman's pale face and intended to bypass the group and return to her room.
Just as she was about to step onto the stairs, a crisp sound of a slap echoed behind her.
'Smack!'
Then came the sound of the woman falling.
Freya turned around and frowned again because she saw the burly man stepping on the woman and yanking the bag from her waist.
The inn's front door was wide open, revealing townsfolk walking by on the street, but it seemed they were oblivious to such wrongdoing. (To be continued)
