A warm touch.
Freya was completely immersed in the water, feeling the tranquility within, and her mood relaxed thoroughly.
After wiping her body, she turned to glance at the nearby Blue Crystal, gently waving her hand, and the crystal immediately flew into her grasp.
"The precise control of Energy Particles with Third-Rank Apprentice's mental power is truly convenient in daily life." She lightly sighed as she pinched the crystal in her hand.
However, she suddenly noticed that the originally solid and firm crystal had undergone a drastic change in hardness upon encountering warm water, as if it had quickly transformed into a piece of blue, translucent jelly.
"What is this?" Freya frowned slightly as she gripped the crystal, pressing down with her fingers, and immediately five clear fingerprints were left on its surface.
She then pulled at it with force but found that it could not be easily torn apart.
Although its shape had changed, the essence within remained the same.
Casually molding the crystal into a shape, Freya took it away from the warm water, and the originally soft and smooth jelly-like crystal quickly hardened again, ultimately returning to its previous hardness.
"Aside from being able to change hardness, it cannot return to its original state?" Observing the oddly shaped Crystal in her hand, Freya analyzed calmly.
This marvelous transformation instantly piqued her interest; in addition to the known functional information, there was now an additional variable to consider. This would make future research easier.
However, she then tried using various Energy Particles to contaminate the crystal within a range but observed no changes at all, indicating the crystal's excellent energy inertia and resistance.
After conducting some routine simple tests, she discovered that aside from warm water causing a change, nothing else had any effect.
Even in its soft jelly form, it remained unchanged, which made Freya even more curious.
Although she still wanted to conduct some other tests, the environment she was in did not allow for it.
So, in the end, she had no choice but to mold the crystal into a simple Blue Bracelet to wear on her wrist.
The aura emitted by this item had a purifying effect on her mind at all times, but it could only be activated through physical contact. Previously, it was difficult to carry due to its crystal form, but now it was just right.
After soaking in the water for a while longer, Freya got up from the wooden tub, dried herself off, and wrapped a white towel around her body.
Through the gap in the curtains, she saw that the outside world had already darkened. However, the burning lights made the city appear even more lively. She could faintly hear cheerful music and people's voices; it seemed there was some kind of gathering near the inn.
Walking to the window, she completely closed the curtains. The information about the blue crystal was still unclear for now, but its special effects had resolved her mental enhancement issue. However, she still had no leads on the two major materials needed for her advancement.
Becoming a wizard meant a change in one's life level. It involved a transformation of the soul, which was different from the knight levels of ordinary people. As long as one continuously trained to unleash their body's potential, they could gain strength. Even an ordinary person without knight qualifications could possess considerable power if they pushed their body to its limits.
The qualifications required to become a wizard included not only physical aspects but also, most importantly, those concerning the soul.
Thinking back carefully now, Freya realized that her faster progress on the knight path compared to others was due to her unique brain and the differences in her body and soul. Otherwise, no one could possibly break through to become a knight and gain a sense of energy in such a short time.
"Apart from relying on trade and academies, precious wizard resources occasionally circulate among some ordinary nobles as treasures or cursed items. These items often appear in Auctions. Since there is still plenty of time before returning to the academy, I should start looking into this area first," Freya thought calmly.
Her body had mostly dried off by now. Just as she was changing into new underwear and preparing to put on her nightgown for her daily meditation routine, she suddenly heard chaotic and loud hoofbeats coming from outside the inn.
"Quick! First team, follow closely; we have spotted the target!"
"Hans! Go notify the city defense! Close the west city gate immediately; no one is allowed in or out!"
Bang!
"He's coming! He's coming! Block him!"
"Ah, my leg!"
"He got hit by an arrow, chase him!"
The sounds of shouting and clashing weapons mixed with the terrified screams of ordinary people came from outside the window.
Freya quickly put on a white robe and pulled back the curtains to look outside.
Below, more than a dozen soldiers in Silver Armor were galloping on horseback, the flames illuminating the entire street. The area was in a state of Disarray after the battle, with several innocent carriages smashed to pieces along the roadside.
Freya squinted slightly as she observed the destruction below. Fortunately, there weren't many pedestrians on this street at this time, so there were not many casualties; only two soldiers lay helplessly on the ground being treated by kind-hearted individuals.
"It seems that the guy who attempted to assassinate the lord has been discovered. However, this fellow really has some skills," she remarked lightly.
With her keen eyesight, she could clearly see the wounds on the two soldiers, which were mostly cuts that had pierced through their armor. This indicated that the assailant possessed considerable strength and skill, likely a Strength-type Knight.
However, this guy must have had poor luck to expose himself near such a busy area. Unless he was Agile Type, escaping would likely require quite a bit of effort.
Just as she was about to withdraw her gaze, she suddenly noticed a detail.
Next to a wrecked carriage lay a circular dent about the size of a human head, where faint Azure arcs were slowly fading until they disappeared.
"Cursed Items?" Freya frowned slightly as she looked at the peculiar dent.
Although she couldn't sense its aura due to the distance, the strange light arc itself indicated something extraordinary.
At that moment, a tall flame suddenly ignited in the opposite direction of the city's bustling area, followed by faint sounds of fighting.
Fixating on the direction of the fire, Freya thoughtfully tied the ribbons of her robe, then picked up two daggers from the table and tucked them into her waist before quietly climbing out of the window.
Barefoot on the rooftop, Freya transformed into a white blur as she dashed toward that direction.
The dark night wind howled against her face, while the lights below remained bright. Freya lightly sniffed the sweet scent in the air, reminiscent of baked cakes.
She paused, slightly lowering her head to observe the lively crowd below, all appearing joyful, with performances happening not far away.
"Maybe I was mistaken."
After glancing around, Freya resumed her run.
As she left that street, the noise of the crowd began to fade, and a faint scent of flames started to fill the air as the surroundings gradually darkened.
With a 'thud,' Freya landed on a large tree branch, its dense leaves completely concealing her in darkness. If one wasn't paying attention, they wouldn't notice her; her azure eyes were fixed on the open space below.
What lay beneath was an intense melee.
Seven or eight soldiers on horseback were relentlessly attacking a Wild Man clad in thick Leather Armor and wielding a massive sword.
The dust kicked up by the galloping horses obscured most of the view, but Freya could still clearly see the scene below.
The clanging sounds of weapons clashing echoed intermittently. Although there were seven or eight soldiers, most of them had the physical prowess of Squires, while the man they were surrounding possessed genuine Medium Knight strength and was virtually unharmed.
However, even so, if this drags on and other soldiers arrive, escaping will become difficult.
It seemed that he was aware of his situation. The man, who was being relentlessly besieged, thrust a spear forward, and with a grin, an invisible wave of air erupted around him.
"Die! Damn trash!" His rough roar mixed with the howling wind.
The man suddenly jumped up, swinging his massive sword fiercely.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With tremendous force, he swept towards the weakest points of the soldiers. In an instant, three soldiers were sent flying, along with the warhorse beneath them crashing to the ground.
Standing on a tree, Freya raised her eyebrows slightly at this scene. Taking down three armored soldiers in one go demonstrated a power that was even greater than that of her father from Knight's Pinnacle.
"It must be a special technique for exerting force; this person likely possesses advanced swordsmanship as well," she analyzed calmly.
Easily dispatching three soldiers reduced the man's pressure by half. The remaining soldiers were quickly knocked off their horses one by one.
With a thud, the giant sword struck the ground, red blood flowing down its blade. He spat on the ground and glanced into the distance before slipping into a concealed alleyway.
Freya observed his route and silently followed him.
The two moved through the alleyway—one in plain sight and the other hidden—for about ten minutes. The man quickly turned a corner and lightly tapped three times on the wall. Before long, a crack appeared in the wall.
He glanced back over his shoulder and immediately squeezed through the opening.
Freya stood on the wall, watching the silhouette of the man enter, a slight smile curling at the corners of her mouth. "Just as I thought."
Assassinating the lord was something that could not be accomplished alone, and since something important was stolen after the assassination attempt failed, it seemed that stealing was the real objective.
Freya crouched down, looking at the wall, and reached out to gently grasp a common blade of grass at the top of the wall, pinching out one of its seeds.
With a soft whisper, a faint green light flickered in her palm.
'Poof'
A cartoon-shaped seed appeared on the wall.
Freya pointed at the wall and said, "Infiltrate inside."
Upon receiving the command, the seed dove into the soil with a poof and soon merged into the wall.
Feeling the presence of the seed, Freya touched her ear, and a circle of green ripples flashed by, instantly allowing faint voices to reach her ears. (To be continued)
