"Then it's settled. Once the task is accomplished, I will definitely reward you satisfactorily." Looking at the decision of the two, Rand chuckled lightly.
"Of course, I won't hold back. You are a descendant of that esteemed individual," Dilada replied.
"You guy," Rand shook his head helplessly, then smiled at the two. "Alright, now that everything is mostly settled and it's still early, how about coming to my place for a drink?"
"Sure," the other person casually replied.
"I'll pass; I still have an experiment to finish," Dilada shrugged.
"That's a pity." Rand waved his hand and turned away. "Then let's go."
...
The newborn sun slowly rose from the east, casting a golden glow.
The sky had completely shed its darkness, with clusters of fluffy white clouds hanging above.
A gentle morning breeze lightly brushed against the surrounding vegetation.
Some early-rising farmers began to take their tools and start working in the fields.
Amidst the lush green farmland, on a winding yellow road, a Black Carriage moved forward slowly.
Driving the carriage was a Blonde Woman dressed in a simple brown long dress.
Her handsome face was partially obscured by a few strands of hair falling over her forehead, giving her a somewhat travel-worn appearance; only the Ice Blue Earrings at her ears provided a sense of chilliness.
Gently brushing aside the hair that obstructed her view, Freya squinted slightly as she looked toward a sign in the distance to confirm her direction.
At this moment, she had been away from the academy for fifteen days.
The journey of fifteen miles had already taken her far beyond the jurisdiction of the academy, but there was still a long way to Raymond City.
"Have we reached the Laster area yet?"
Confirming the direction, Freya withdrew her gaze.
The roadside was lined with large fields. Not far away were some brown stone houses.
At this time, there weren't many pedestrians on the road; only the occasional lone rider hurriedly passed by the carriage.
Although this place was still near the Dis Mountain Range, it was much quieter compared to the academy, as if it had not been significantly affected by the war among wizards.
From what Freya knew, this area called Laster seemed to have only two third-rate Wizard Organizations, both of which were non-combat and peaceful types.
Even so, Freya had no interest in engaging with them.
Her current knowledge base was equivalent to that of an Erudite compared to an average Wizard Organization. The extensive accumulation of Basic Knowledge meant that even a typical Wizard Organization's library probably didn't hold as much as what she had in her mind.
Thus, aside from new knowledge from an Official Wizard, nothing else would be of much use to her.
Moreover, she had just killed James not long ago and might be wanted by the academy, so there was no reason for her to get involved in other matters.
The morning breeze lifted her skirt slightly, bringing a coolness with it.
After staying outside for a moment, Freya let the Black Stallion move forward on its own and then climbed into the carriage.
The carriage was spacious, but it was filled with various items that Freya had brought from the academy, making it feel a bit cramped.
After tidying up a little, Freya sat at the only round table in the middle of the carriage.
On top of the round table was a circular, intricate magic circle, emitting a faint green glow.
In the center of the magic circle lay the Bloodstained Dagger that had been retrieved from James.
At this moment, the Bloodstained Dagger was bathed in green light, giving off an eerie feeling.
Freya glanced at the Bloodstained Dagger in the magic circle and lightly snapped her fingers.
Before long, a slender, peculiar green plant rapidly grew beside the table and bloomed.
However, at the center of the flower was not a pistil, but a green Wide-eyed.
Freya tapped the table, extending her hands to cover both sides of the magic circle, and calmly addressed the Wide-eyed.
"Fourth analysis experiment, now beginning to record."
A strand of mental energy connected to the magic circle.
'Sizzle'
Soon, a beam of green energy suddenly shot out from the magic circle.
Like a prelude, countless particles resembling Liquefaction suddenly became active in the center of the magic circle. They slowly formed into strange green hands reaching toward the dagger in the middle.
'Creak, creak.'
As soon as these green hands made contact with the dagger, they immediately produced an unpleasant crunching sound.
However, the dagger showed no signs of damage.
Freya calmly watched the changes in the magic circle and the dagger, as if she had already anticipated them.
This effect lasted for about ten minutes.
With a somewhat pale complexion, Freya slowly relaxed her hands, gently plucking the Wide-eyed plant from its stem and placing it in her mouth.
A sound of bursting eyeballs echoed in her mouth as Freya closed her eyes, carefully chewing while absorbing the analytical images contained within the Wide-eyed.
After a long while, she opened her eyes, frowned slightly as she swallowed what was in her mouth, and quickly grabbed a nearby cup of water to rinse her mouth. After several rinses, she set down the cup and muttered to herself in annoyance.
"I really miss the recording crystals from the academy's laboratory."
Although this crude method of spell recording could replace the recording crystals, it was inferior in both taste and storage capacity.
But in this environment, there was no other choice.
Once the intense sourness in her mouth faded, Freya picked up the Bloodstained Dagger from the magic circle.
From its appearance, this object was more akin to a short sword than a dagger, though it was much more exquisite than an ordinary short sword.
The slender blade was entirely crimson, and the hilt featured two entwined snakes, with their tails forming the grip.
Freya lightly waved this peculiar dagger; if it hadn't been found on James, one might have mistaken it for an ordinary weapon based solely on its exterior.
However, through four rounds of powerful analysis of the magic circle and four comparisons of recordings, she had already guessed what this item was.
It was a contract item linked to a certain life form, and from the subtle energy fluctuations emanating from it, it seemed that this life form belonged to another world.
However, Freya was not interested in communicating with the creature on the other side of the dagger.
Firstly, she did not know whether the contracted creature behind was dangerous. Secondly, she was not very proficient in Summoning.
If approached incorrectly, it might lead to unnecessary trouble.
After thinking for a moment, Freya took out a long black wooden box and casually placed the dagger inside.
She planned to sell this item for some resources at an opportunity in the future.
After all, a contracted item connected to another world would surely have considerable value.
Having completed these tasks, Freya closed her eyes again and entered a meditative state.
The mental energy consumed by the powerful analysis magic circle was significant, almost equivalent to casting three First-Level Spells.
This was quite a burden for Freya, who had just recently been promoted.
Although Freya did not know how much her mental energy had increased since becoming an Official Wizard, it was certainly much greater than during her apprentice days.
However, due to the lack of specific measurement units, she could only guess a vague boundary, roughly around three times that of an average Third-Rank Apprentice.
The strength of mental energy is related to the release and power of spells.
In fact, if Freya were to set aside her physical qualities as a Great Knight and her combat experience, her mental energy would only be at the level of an ordinary Newly Advanced Wizard, which was not particularly outstanding.
During her battle with James, although she used many spells, most of them were either apprentice-level Zero-Level Spells or her own Empowerment Spells.
Thus, the consumption of mental energy was not substantial.
However, the power of these Spells applied to her swordsmanship is almost comparable to that of weaker First-Level Spells.
This is also the key reason why she was able to defeat James.
Otherwise, a typical Newly Advanced Wizard would have been exhausted to death when facing the hidden James.
It should be noted that the numerous Synthetic Creatures and corpses summoned are nearly comparable to an ordinary cannon fodder army.
From this point, one can see Freya's combat advantage.
Of course, this does not mean that mental power is unimportant to Freya.
As her life level increases, her combat level will also rise, but Freya knows that the ultimate limit of a Great Knight cannot parallel the path of a wizard.
Ultimately, the competition between wizards relies on both parties' mental power and various Spell knowledge.
According to Freya's vague deductions, the physical qualities of a Great Knight would not significantly aid her path.
This point is likely to conclude shortly after advancing to Second-Level Wizard.
The release of Spells becomes very swift after optimization; it is estimated that no matter how fast she becomes, others can launch a large number of Spells in an instant, making it impossible for her to close the distance.
Thus, the path of a wizard ultimately relies on one's own mental power or soul.
In contrast to wizards who pursue truth and elevate their life levels, the body is merely an external entity in a certain sense.
Time passes quickly, second by second.
Feeling her mental power restored to a certain level, Freya opened her eyes.
The once bumpy carriage ride had become much smoother, as it seemed they had reached the main road.
Lifting the curtain, Freya could see buildings of varying heights in the distance, and the number of pedestrians and carriages nearby had increased.
According to the map she had previously checked, this area was actually quite close to Raymond City.
At this speed, they would arrive in about three or four hours.
"Every town conducts a census for the public at regular intervals. I can start from here. Although the other party is a Necromancer, in this barren place, they likely won't exceed Second Level. Without resources and knowledge, any Spell that requires material components would probably be useless. I just don't know which subject of the Necromancy Department that person focuses on; there is still too little information."
Thinking calmly about her plan, Freya lowered the curtain.
There were few Official Wizards in Raymond City; commoners might not be aware, but nobles generally had some exposure.
Based on her previous research, the current lord of Raymond City seemed to be a Countess named Angelina, who also appeared to be an Apprentice Wizard herself.
