Chapter 204:
Through the Dense Forest.
Four Hours Later.
Under the pitch-black night sky.
The cool night breeze gently swept across the green grassland, where the half-meter tall grass looked like waves in the sea, rising and falling with clear ripples.
In the bright moonlight, Freya walked calmly across this expanse of grassland.
In her line of sight, a silver thread emitted a faint glow, guiding her forward.
Thirty Minutes Later.
Following the guidance of the silver thread, a low wooden cabin appeared solitary before Freya.
"Is this the place?" Freya murmured softly as she looked at the simple wooden cabin made of black planks.
The cabin seemed to have some age, exuding a faint smell of decay. It had no windows or chimney, only a simple wooden door.
After scanning the surroundings and finding no danger, she reached for the doorknob.
With a 'creak,' the wooden door was easily pulled open.
The interior was as simple as its exterior, containing only a bed and a few low stools, with not even a table in sight.
The night wind whistled through the gaps in the cabin, creating an eerie sound.
As soon as Freya stepped into the room, a circle of fine ripples quickly radiated from her.
Her breath caught for a moment, then became smooth again, and Freya found herself inexplicably in a strange room.
This room seemed to be a girl's bedroom, filled with various exaggerated dolls in a pink decor that nearly filled half the space.
Above her, the ceiling was a bright night sky, illuminating the entire room.
Under the twinkling starlight, a huge circular bed was placed right in the center of the room.
Sleeping on the bed was Lani, dressed in pajamas.
Freya looked around this bizarre room and turned back to glance outside the door.
She could vaguely see the grassland swaying in the wind outside, but it appeared as if there was a layer of frosted glass separating her from it, making it unclear.
"Is this a combination of illusion and Spatial Folding Technology?" Freya wondered curiously as she reached out to touch the strange wooden door.
However, she found her hand disappearing before her eyes; yet in Freya's perception, a cool breeze brushed against her palm.
"Not bad."
Understanding the mystery behind it, Freya admired Rand's secret protection over Lani.
Without the guidance of the cross, even if one found this wooden house, entering its space would not be so simple.
It should be noted that Freya had felt nothing when she entered. There were no energy fluctuations; even her Empowerment Spell did not detect anything.
Such secrecy likely meant that without guidance, one would have to truly step into that simple wooden house.
Lani lay quietly asleep on the bed. Her breathing was steady, just like any normal person.
However, in Freya's spiritual perception, she could clearly sense that Lani's vitality was slowly being consumed.
It was clearly the effect of that curse.
Gently walking to the bedside, Freya lifted the blanket and reached out to carry her. She walked out of the room.
Perhaps due to the stimulation of the night breeze, Lani unconsciously hummed softly a couple of times, but there were no signs of her waking up.
Glancing at her sleeping face, Freya cast a simple isolation spell on her before heading directly toward Traveler's Dock.
Currently, several members of the Elk Wizard Family were embroiled in internal strife. Rand, as an important member of the Fennel Family, was a crucial part of this situation.
And Lani, as Rand's only sister, would certainly attract special attention.
Now that Freya was taking Lani away, it was both to treat her curse and to avoid being caught up in this internal conflict, preventing others from seizing leverage over Rand.
After picking up Lani, Freya moved as quickly as possible to avoid any unforeseen complications.
Lani wasn't very heavy, but Freya wasn't particularly strong either, especially after running for an extended period.
Three hours later.
Exhausted and weary, Freya finally arrived at Traveler's Dock.
Witch Kate was quietly waiting in the darkness and immediately approached when she saw Freya and Lani coming.
"Madam, the ship is ready. We will arrange for you and Lady Lani to board the Elk Family's Passenger Ship at noon. Please hurry."
At that moment, she noticed a pitch-black ship floating behind the dock.
It blended into the night; without paying attention, one would hardly notice it.
"Alright, thank you." Freya said, taking a slight breath and nodding gently.
Under Kate's guidance, the two boarded the ship together.
The ship appeared to have a lot of space.
After settling Lani, Freya walked to the bow of the ship.
The ship was moving quickly, seemingly powered by more than just manpower, as the sea breeze tousled her long hair.
In the pitch-black night, the massive shadow of the Dis Mountain Range loomed larger and larger.
Freya squinted her eyes, gazing into the distance, lost in thought.
Moments later.
On the shimmering surface of the Calm Sea Surface, a large Giant Ship seemed to be moving slowly but was actually traveling swiftly.
Next to the Giant Ship, another vessel of similar speed was slowly approaching.
As the ships drew closer, a gangway suddenly dropped from one side of the Giant Ship, perfectly landing on the other vessel.
Amidst the rolling white waves, Freya took the suitcase that Kate handed over, nodded slightly at her, said something, and then walked towards the Giant Ship with the still-sleeping Lani.
Ten minutes later.
Inside the luxurious cabin of the Giant Ship.
Freya held onto Lani as they were led into a room by a figure in a black robe.
Lani seemed to be in worse condition than what Rand had described; she had not woken up since Freya had taken her.
If it weren't for the Spell that allows her body functions to remain active, this curse would have likely taken her life by now.
The Elk Passenger Ship was the same vessel that Freya took when she arrived at Elgreen Academy.
However, this time the destination has changed to Cloud City.
Regarding Cloud City, a gathering place for the White Wizards, Freya does not know much. She only knows that it is a place richer in resources than the Dis Mountain Range.
It is also a relatively peaceful area within the Wizarding World.
However, that does not mean it is entirely safe; after all, where there are wizards, there is no true concept of safety in a certain sense.
According to Kate's instructions before leaving, although taking the ship might seem like a detour, due to the speed of the Giant Ship, it could actually shorten the travel time.
What would originally take four months on land is estimated to only take two months at sea.
On the third day after boarding, Lani finally woke up for the first time.
On the pristine white bed, Lani slowly opened her eyes and then somewhat dazedly got out of bed.
When she saw Freya sitting at a desk sketching something, she paused slightly. Uncertainly, she asked,
"Are you... Freya?"
"Huh?" Freya, who was focused on her experiment, turned around upon hearing the sound from behind. She smiled and said,
"You're awake?"
"Yes." It seemed she had slept for a long time; her mind felt a bit sluggish. Looking around her surroundings, when she noticed the Calm Sea Surface outside the window, her pupils slightly constricted.
"Are we at sea?"
"That's right." Putting down what she was holding, Freya turned around.
Her only impression of Lani was from the incident at Abyssal Lake; aside from that, they hadn't interacted much.
In fact, they were merely acquaintances, not even friends.
"Alright." She rubbed her temples and after a while, lifted her head. "Since you've come to get me, it seems my foolish brother has started to take action. By the way, Freya, how long have I been asleep this time?"
"About five hours," Freya replied, watching Lani as she pondered.
"Really... five." Lani nodded lightly and touched her chest. "That's an hour and a half longer than the last time I was unconscious..."
Freya frowned slightly as she looked at Lani's somber expression. "Do you want to go for a walk? You need to adjust after just waking up."
"No, thanks." She shook her head. "If I'm guessing correctly, I've probably only been awake for about two hours; I know my own body."
"Okay then." Without arguing, Freya nodded, acknowledging Lani's reality.
However, listening to Lani's words, Freya immediately understood that although Lani had been in a deep sleep, Rand hadn't kept anything from her.
In fact, Freya had always felt that if you set aside their powers, Lani's intelligence surpassed Rand's by a significant margin.
It was likely that Lani had contributed to the recent turmoil within the academy.
The two weren't particularly familiar with each other; after a brief exchange, Freya turned back to continue her experiments while Lani ate a little something and soon fell back into a deep sleep after about two hours.
This time, however, in Freya's mental sensing, Lani's life force had noticeably diminished.
An hour later, Freya put away her tools and glanced at Lani on the bed. Then she pointed at the wooden door of the room, and a flash of green light disappeared in an instant.
For the next three hours, aside from necessary meditation and sword training, she focused on conducting various experiments with the Wizard's Notebook that Hegel had left her.
There were also quite a few gains.
Moreover, in this notebook, Freya discovered that Hegel not only researched his own Shadow System but also had some unique thoughts about the rules of other worlds.
Upon reflection, Hegel seemed to have some slight connection with the Abyss World.
Therefore, regarding these special ideas, Freya planned to experiment with them in the Ruined World she had discovered.
It is worth noting that after several attempts, she had gradually begun to uncover some secrets of the Ruined World.
In a certain sense, that world seemed to have an inexplicable connection with Spirit, or perhaps that world was a kind of existence where all beings belonged to Spirit.
Looking at the dense green vines spreading across the wooden door, Freya withdrew her hand with satisfaction. Then she turned to face the drawn magic circle and some tools she had been working with.
However, just as she summoned the Hilt Goatman's dagger, a loud explosion suddenly echoed from the corridor outside. (To be continued...)
