Chapter 221:
Feeling the Black Spot continuously corroding the flesh beneath her wrist, Freya slowly covered it with her left hand.
"Hiss."
A green light gradually illuminated, struggling to dispel the Negative Energy within.
Tendrils of black smoke, resembling snakes, burst apart under the green light and evaporated into the air. However, the Black Spot quickly drew the black smoke back in.
This made Freya frown slightly, and a glimmer of golden light flashed in her azure eyes.
With some reluctance, she took out two red and white striped leaves from her waist pouch, chewed them quickly, and applied them directly to the Black Spot.
At the same time, she pressed down with her left hand using a special gesture.
"Crack."
With a sound like shattering, the previously distorted Black Spot finally settled down under Freya's suppression.
Feeling that the curse had been temporarily restrained, Freya released her left hand and murmured softly.
"I originally thought it was just an ordinary Black Eel Curse, but it seems to be a modified version. I was careless."
Black Eel Curse, Freya understood the essence of this Necromancy Spell. If it were just the original version of the curse, she could easily dispel it with her own power.
But if it has been modified, then it becomes somewhat troublesome; corresponding data or specific experiments are necessary to resolve it.
After all, every wizard has a different understanding of Spell. Even the same Spell, after continuous modifications, can produce different characteristics.
From Freya's perspective, although this modified Black Eel Curse has undergone extensive improvements, its essence still remains tied to the original version.
Thus, using the precious Black Blood Leaf along with supportive Energy Particles can help spread the curse, but to completely eliminate it will require some effort and resources.
"The efficacy of Black Blood Leaf can only Collapse three times. After three uses, the curse will spread again. Even if we use Black Blood Leaf again, it is likely to develop some resistance. Moreover, Black Blood Leaf only serves to stop the curse; the Negative Energy accumulated by the curse has not been released. If a solution is not found after three uses, then the explosive power of the curse will be difficult to suppress. We must head to Dartesk Center in advance."
While contemplating her plan, a hint of killing intent flickered in Freya's eyes.
If those two members of the Hunting Squad had arrived half an hour later, that Necromancer would have likely already met her sword.
However, Freya also remembered the appearance of that Necromancer. If they were to meet again, she would likely unleash her wrath upon them.
...
Three hours later.
The Emerald Forest gradually faded from its deep green expanse.
Tall buildings slowly emerged from the ground.
Dartesk Central City.
The white buildings are neatly arranged.
The ground is paved with clean blue stone slabs. Green vegetation is planted on both sides.
Some people dressed in robes or other garments walk along the road, while drivers of carriages occasionally pass by quickly.
On a wide road in this city, a nondescript black carriage moves at a steady pace.
Freya sits in the carriage, her face somewhat pale. She is now wearing a white robe symbolizing the White Wizard, but her right arm is wrapped in a black silk scarf, from which a faint medicinal scent emanates.
As she drives the carriage, she occasionally glances around at the streets.
On both sides of the street are various shops, including those owned by ordinary people and special shops run by wizards.
Freya even feels that in this city, there is basically no friction between ordinary people and wizards; they exist in almost equal relationships.
This would be impossible in the Dis Mountain Range, yet it is perfectly embodied here.
It gives her a sense of unreality.
According to reports, Dartesk Center is one of the three most developed cities in Cloud City and serves as the center of South Cloud City, belonging to the influence of Sky City.
In this area of ordinary cities, wizards are not allowed to harm civilians for any reason or engage in private fights, nor misuse spells.
Once discovered, a Hunting Squad will immediately come to handle the situation seriously.
Those with serious offenses have the right to execute on the spot.
Every wizard entering the Southern Region must register with a special department of the Sky City organization if they wish to live here; otherwise, they will be expelled within fifteen days.
Moreover, what made Freya feel even stranger was that the Sky City, which is nominally the wizard management organization of the South, actually allows other Wizard Organizations to exist within its territory. Furthermore, every so often, students or departments from these Wizard Organizations hold gatherings to exchange knowledge, resources, compete, and even arrange marriages.
This tolerant management style truly astonished Freya.
However, considering that this is a gathering place for White Wizards, a region rich in resources, it is not surprising to see such a thriving environment.
She just wondered what kind of hierarchy this vast organization of Sky City would represent if it were located in the Dis Mountain Range.
As she organized the limited information she had gathered over the past three days in her mind, her eyes scanned the surroundings.
In her hand, the cross that Rand had given her was emitting a faint glow, guiding her forward.
Before long, she suddenly noticed something unusual on the sign of a Magic Potion Shop.
At the top of the sign was an image of a pitch-black crow, staring at Freya with its black eyes as if it were alive.
She glanced down at the cross in her hand; the light was pointing directly at that place.
"It seems I've really found it this time!"
She urged the carriage to stop at the shop's entrance and jumped down, striding inside.
The shop was large, with three counters, and several Apprentice Wizards in robes were selecting herbs.
Freya's entrance did not attract anyone's attention. She glanced around the environment and walked straight to a less crowded counter.
Behind the counter was an elderly man in a green robe, recommending potions to a girl about sixteen or seventeen years old.
Freya stood patiently behind the apprentice, waiting for her to finish.
Once the girl completed her purchase and left, Freya approached the counter.
"Master Wizard, how can I help you?" the elderly man asked politely.
Shaking her head, Freya placed a cross on the counter and said softly, "I am looking for the person in charge of Black Crow, Lani."
"Lani? Sister Lani!?" The elderly man was slightly taken aback by Freya's words and quickly walked toward the room behind him. (To be continued...)
