Chapter 229:
Hearing Freya's questioning tone, the Female Apprentice's expression slightly stiffened, showing some difficulty.
"Sir, you know our academy has been established for less than thirty years. A potion recipe is incredibly valuable to a Wizard Organization. Basically, apart from a few low-level recipes, we only have one Intermediate recipe, the Negative Energy Elementalization Potion. Moreover, its main ingredient is extracted from the Negative Energy Crystal using the Spirit Energy Cup, and the production method is extremely complex, as you can see."
Freya understood that Pharmacology was a rather difficult subject, involving knowledge that spanned a wide range of topics, perhaps even more advanced than Runology in some respects.
However, there were indeed very few weak Wizard Organizations that possessed such precious recipes.
But Freya did not expect that Black Wind Academy was one of these weak Wizard Organizations.
Such an organization placed great importance on the Intermediate Enchanted Item, the Spirit Energy Cup.
Freya estimated that the items she possessed might be worth more than this Wizard Organization.
Furthermore, given the significance of the Spirit Energy Cup, it was likely that it had been marked with an indelible tracking spell. If she were to take it directly, it would probably lead to further trouble.
After thinking it over, Freya felt somewhat hesitant to target such a Wizard Organization. She nodded and said,
"Alright, I agree to your request."
To her surprise, the Official Wizard in front of her who could kill without blinking was so agreeable. The Female Apprentice, gripping the cup tightly in her hands, looked excited as she exclaimed,
"Really?? Oh, thank you so much! Sir! I will prepare the potion recipe for you right away!"
She directly turned her head and instructed one of the guards.
Seeing this, Freya shook her head slightly.
A Third-Rank Apprentice having such authority in this academy, even with her close relationship with the Official Wizard, meant that for this weak Wizard Organization, only a peaceful place like Cloud City could allow it to survive.
However, it is important to note that even in the relatively resource-rich Cloud City, there are significant disparities in strength between organizations.
This newly emerging Black Wind Academy, if it cannot achieve academic results or if the Official Wizards gradually decline, might collapse soon without it being surprising.
Not far away, the guard who had been instructed by the Female Apprentice quickly burst into action and left.
Only three people and a corpse remained at the scene.
Freya had no intention of conversing with the other two.
After thinking for a moment, she sat down in the driver's seat of the carriage and drew her Cross Sword. She continued to add unique markings to it and remove impurities.
This Cross Sword, which was originally made of ordinary material, had become nearly indistinguishable from low-level Cursed Items after her continuous Enchantment and modifications.
Moreover, since it belonged to the weapon category of Cursed Items, its value was likely higher than that of some mid-level auxiliary Cursed Items.
After all, as Freya's power continued to grow, if she were still using an ordinary Cross Sword, she would probably need to prepare ten or so for each battle. Additionally, it might not allow her to fully unleash her true strength.
Although the knowledge and skills of the Enchantment Department are not as advanced as those of Pharmacology, Freya was not worried about the Female Apprentice stealing her techniques due to her level of existence. Thus, she did not feel the need to be discreet.
Freya simply added a few solidified seals and then reached into her waist pouch to take out a handful of brown powder. She evenly sprinkled it over the surface.
With a hissing sound, the originally silver-white Cross Sword began to ooze tiny black particles upon contact with the powder. These were useless impurities within the sword that would compromise its toughness and sharpness.
Calmly observing the fine black dots emerging, Freya pulled out a piece of brown silk cloth from the carriage and carefully wiped away the residue.
Not far away, the Female Apprentice, who was resting, widened her eyes at Freya's actions.
"Isn't that Stardust Powder? It's an excellent material for merging special potions and removing impurities from ordinary weapons. What a waste!"
However, seeing Freya's casual demeanor, it seemed that this rare Stardust Powder was merely regarded as an ordinary material for her to eliminate impurities.
This sense of disparity left a bitter taste in the Female Apprentice's mouth, and her eyes sparkled with an inexplicable light as she pondered something.
Ten minutes later.
The departing guard rode in on a swift red horse and arrived here.
At the same time, he held a Black Cover book in his hand.
Receiving the book handed over by the guard, the Female Apprentice respectfully approached Freya.
"Milady, please take a look. This is a combined formula for two potions."
Looking at the book being presented, Freya casually flipped through it, ensuring nothing was left behind. She nodded in satisfaction and revealed a slight smile.
"Very well, the prescription is comprehensive. Then, farewell."
With that, she pulled the reins, and the carriage slowly moved forward, surprisingly choosing to leave directly.
This decisive action left the Female Apprentice unable to say anything she had prepared.
She couldn't even attempt to stop her and could only watch her depart.
She didn't even ask for Freya's name.
The carriage moved at a steady pace and soon disappeared down the winding road.
After the carriage completely vanished, a thin, white-haired old man appeared in the forest behind the Female Apprentice.
The old man wore a black robe, and his appearance bore some resemblance to the Female Apprentice, likely indicating a blood relation.
His gaze followed Freya's departure before gradually shifting to the headless corpse on the ground. After a long moment, he silently sighed in his heart and then turned to disappear into the forest.
...
On the somewhat muddy road, the carriage struggled a bit to move forward.
Freya paid no mind to what had happened in Maple Forest; she merely regarded it as a distraction on her journey.
Her main focus now was on what awaited her after joining the Crimson Eagle.
The most important aspect is the Meditation Method of the Official Wizard.
The basic Meditation Method at the apprentice level is quite common, but once it reaches the Meditation Method of the Official Wizard, its significance changes entirely.
Originally, Freya planned to purchase some as references in various Trading Areas or Auctions using her financial resources.
However, as she learned more, she found that her initial thoughts were absurd.
The Meditation Method is, in a sense, the foundation of a Wizard Organization.
The Meditation Method of an Official Wizard inherently carries certain characteristics; even if it is a different type of Meditation Method, there are varying effects that emerge as the level of meditation increases.
If a wizard wishes to learn, they must not only join the organization but also leave a trace of their Life Mark on the Contract as a sign of loyalty.
If a wizard were to leak the Meditation Method privately, this Life Mark would ignite, resulting in damage to their soul at best, or complete loss of all mental power at worst. (To be continued...)
