Chapter 231:
This is a spacious and bright room, seemingly a dedicated lounge.
Inside, there are individual black sofas and round tables set up, with beautiful landscape oil paintings hanging on the walls. Next to them stand apprentices serving as waitstaff.
Each of them is handsome, clearly selected for their appearance.
At this moment, several Official Wizards are already seated in the room, both male and female, most dressed in White Robes, though a few are in other attire.
They are happily engaged in conversation in small groups.
The arrival of Freya draws the attention of others, who instinctively look her way. Some even show friendly smiles and nod lightly in acknowledgment.
This friendly demeanor makes Freya feel somewhat out of place, but she nods back as a form of response.
"Another newcomer; it seems this year's Crimson Eagle has recruited even more than last year," remarked a red-haired Male Wizard sitting on the central sofa with a smile.
"Yes, that's true. However, I suspect the assessments might be stricter this time," replied another woman dressed in white, seemingly a companion of his.
Their conversation is not conducted through whispers; Freya hears everything clearly as she approaches.
Meanwhile, a tall and slender young man sitting at the outer edge stands up as he sees Freya coming over and softly says to her, "Welcome, new companion. Hello, I am Kyle."
He is one of those who had nodded at her earlier.
"Hello, I am Freya."
Freya responded while sitting down on the nearby sofa, curiously observing the surrounding wizards.
Counting them, there were actually more than ten.
Perhaps noticing Freya's expression, Kyle asked, "Freya, is this your first time at Crimson Eagle?"
"Hmm?" Hearing Kyle's question, Freya raised an eyebrow. "Aren't all of you here for the first time?"
"Heh, how could that be?" A girl in white Leather Armor sitting next to Kyle chuckled and explained. "Almost half of us are regulars; some have been to Crimson Eagle three or four times already, so they can be considered half members of Crimson Eagle. The guy sitting next to you has been here five times."
Listening to the girl's teasing, Kyle was not annoyed. He smiled and said, "Suzanna. You owe me; haven't you also been here three times? How is your preparation this year? Do you think you'll pass the assessment?"
"Of course I'm fully prepared! I've been studying hard at home!" The girl named Suzanna vigorously waved her fist. "This year I made a promise with my father that I will definitely enter Crimson Eagle! Otherwise, I won't go home!"
Freya smiled as she watched the conversation between the two.
In her impression, most White Wizards interacted much more harmoniously compared to Dark Wizards. Strangers did not seem to harbor any suspicion; even a cautious attitude usually did not lead to malicious actions.
Some White Wizard Organizations even had a mindset of mutual support and worked together.
This was almost impossible for Dark Wizards; due to environmental factors or other reasons, most advanced with a competitive spirit.
Everyone was a competitor; although there were friends who exchanged ideas, they were still far fewer than among White Wizards.
However, this does not necessarily mean that Dark Wizards are weaker than White Wizards; it is just that their fields of development and attitudes towards life differ.
After all, most areas of the Dark Wizard are war-torn zones, with extremely harsh environments and relatively scarce resources, which inevitably leads to that kind of pattern.
Of course, because of this, the attitudes of the wizards from the two regions towards each other are completely opposite.
The White Wizards regard the Dark Wizards as terrorists and keep their distance, while the Dark Wizards' disdain for the White Wizards is also evident.
As for Freya, her self-positioning is not very clear either. She belongs to a passive type; if no one provokes her, she won't randomly provoke others. However, once someone threatens her, things will take a turn for the worse.
Listening quietly to the discussions among the other White Wizards, she politely responded when someone spoke to her.
Soon, a young man dressed in a white robe with red edges walked out from the inner room.
As he emerged, the previously chatting crowd fell silent in unison.
The young man scanned the waiting room with a calm gaze and spoke.
"I believe everyone has seen the previous information. Next, those who choose to enter the Combat Department and Potion Department, please follow me. The rest stay put."
After he finished speaking, some people in the room gradually stood up and left their seats. Suzanna, dressed in white Leather Armor, also got up, clearly heading for one of those two departments.
Kyle, as a companion, gave Suzanna a thumbs-up gesture of encouragement, to which she smiled in response.
Freya, still sitting on the sofa, watched as about half of the people followed the young man out of the room, feeling a vague sense of nervousness inside.
From their earlier conversation, Freya realized that the assessment by Crimson Eagle was not as simple as she had imagined; it was a rather rigorous test of both Basic Knowledge and specialized knowledge.
Wizards with shaky Basic Knowledge would be eliminated even if they had good abilities but performed poorly in assessments.
Freya's time in Cloud City has been short; most of her knowledge was learned at Elgreen Academy. She is not very sure whether the knowledge system there is the same as here.
Kyle seemed to notice Freya's indifference and spoke to comfort her.
"Hey, there's no need to be nervous, Freya. Actually, the Crimson Eagle has different assessment content for each person to prevent cheating. Some parts are difficult, while others are easier. If you're lucky and encounter an easier one, passing won't be just a matter of a moment. However, don't compare yourself to me; I'm an exception. Every time I come here, I tend to face more challenging questions, but that's just how it is."
He innocently shrugged his shoulders, and the others smiled kindly at his self-deprecating humor.
Hearing Kyle's reassurance, Freya felt a bit better inside and asked him, "By the way, I still don't know which department you applied for, Kyle."
"I applied for a rather obscure one—the Biology Department. I estimate there are at most three people here who applied with me."
"Obscure? Biology Department?" Freya thought for a moment and nodded. "That's not bad; it seems you have a deep understanding of various biological studies."
"Not really," he replied modestly.
Biology is a discipline that studies the structure and modification of living organisms and explores Ancient Bloodlines. This field was initially second only to the Negative Energy System at Elgreen Academy, with elective courses being almost as popular as those in the Necromancy Department.
However, it unexpectedly became obscure here. But thinking about the Biology Division in Cloud City, this discipline might be better over in the City of Illusions. (To be continued...)
