Chapter Two Hundred Thirty-Five:
According to the information on the Meditation Method, this particular method consists of four stages, each corresponding to a different wizard level. Once one reaches any of these stages, they will gain corresponding abilities, which are inherent to the Meditation Method and not spells that the wizard inscribes in their mind.
In other words, if Freya reaches Second-Level Wizard, she will not only be able to inscribe the second-ring Empowerment Spell in her mind again but will also gain an additional third Empowerment Spell.
A wizard possessing three Empowerment Spells, Freya could easily imagine how she would dominate against other wizards of the same level who only have two Empowerment Spells.
It would be a complete crushing victory.
However, Freya was unsure whether this capability of the Formal Wizard Meditation Method was unique or if others had similar abilities.
"Moreover, the Crimson Eagle is a large organization that possesses two formal Meditation Methods. Besides the Wind Element method I have, there is also one for the Fire Element, but I do not know what their practice entails."
Gently tapping her fingers on the solid table surface, Freya felt she had officially confirmed her path.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this Meditation Method would accompany her until she reached the Fourth-Level Archmage stage.
"It seems I need to communicate with the surrounding wizards. Since I just arrived here, the information available about Crimson Eagle is too superficial to glean anything substantial. Additionally, I need to fill in my Basic Knowledge regarding First-Level Wizards. The Rune Department's usual work isn't too busy either. It’s a good opportunity to prepare for entering the Vaporization Level."
Her total mental strength was already nearing the Vaporization Level, but progress had been slow due to stagnation in her apprentice-level Meditation Method.
Now with a new Meditation Method and such rapid improvement in her mental strength, she estimated that within a month, she would experience another transformation.
The leap in wizard levels wouldn't be as life-threatening as advancing to wizard status, but it still required high potential and mental acuity. Therefore, most wizards would prepare as thoroughly as possible during this period; if they made a successful leap, it would save them considerable effort in subsequent stages.
There were even rare records indicating that a certain wizard had jumped directly to Liquefaction Level due to special circumstances prior to their leap. This was not a secret.
Freya contemplated her upcoming arrangements while picking up the Meditation Method materials from the table and murmuring a brief incantation.
With a soft pop, a purple flame quickly leaped onto the materials. In no time at all, it burned them completely clean without leaving a trace.
She waved away the ashes in the air and stood up to walk over to the nearby coat rack, where she took down her new white robe with red trim.
"I am now an Official Wizard of Crimson Eagle; it's just right to report to the Rune Department and meet my new colleagues for future communication."
The Rune Department is located some distance from Freya's residence.
It requires passing through the teaching area and other public spaces.
Freya walked calmly along the road, occasionally encountering Apprentice Wizards dressed in Gray Robes.
However, she only saw two or three Official Wizards, which was a stark contrast to the bustling scene she had witnessed when she reported in earlier.
On both sides of the road, the welcome banners that had been hanging were now all taken down, restoring the area to its original appearance, as if this was the usual scene at Crimson Eagle.
A gentle breeze blew, occasionally lifting Freya's golden hair that fell to her waist. The air carried an unknown sweet cream scent, as if someone were enjoying desserts and tea at this time.
All the apprentices who encountered her displayed respectful expressions and bowed in greeting.
This made her feel somewhat familiar; after all, she had once walked step by step like these apprentices when she was at Elgreen.
Thoughts of nostalgia lingered in her mind.
About ten minutes later, a tall building with a dark red theme appeared before her.
At the top of the building was a striking red Eagle Head emblem, and below it was a black plaque with white lettering that read "Rune Department" in the common language.
At that moment, a wizard dressed in a similar robe walked out of the main entrance. Upon seeing Freya approaching, he paused slightly, then noticed the badge representing the Rune Department pinned to her chest and smiled.
"Oh? Are you one of the new members joining us this year?" The wizard, whose hair was silver but whose face looked quite young, greeted Freya warmly. "Hello, I am Filarbalon."
"Yes, I am Freya Green. I came here to report today," Freya replied with a respectful smile.
"Well, our Rune Department has always been small. With the three newcomers this year, there are only about twenty of us. Since most people are currently dispatched to branches or outposts for maintenance work, it might feel quite quiet here. I hope you don't mind," the wizard named Fira reminded her.
"That's fine; I'm just here to take a look and get familiar with things," Freya said, raising an eyebrow curiously at Fira's reminder. "So there are only twenty people in our Rune Department?"
This number of people might be acceptable for some smaller organizations, but for a large Wizarding Organization like Crimson Eagle, it is pitifully small.
It is important to note that generally, to construct a Rune Tower or inscribe a large Rune Array, at least three people are needed to work together. If divided, these twenty individuals can barely form six groups.
Daily maintenance is manageable, but in the event of special circumstances, six groups would clearly not be enough.
"Yes, you heard correctly," Fira nodded and continued. "Of course, we weren't always this understaffed. Earlier this year, our organization responded to Sky City's call and directly reassigned half of our personnel to the City of Illusions for defense work, which is why we suddenly have so few people available."
"I see," Freya nodded in understanding.
The City of Illusions, in a sense, serves as the gateway to the entire Cloud City. Every Wizard Organization in Cloud City has an obligation to prevent invasions from the Sea Tribe.
As far as Freya knows, each year every Wizard Organization has a certain quota of personnel that must serve there for a specified duration before they can return.
However, although the City of Illusions is a war-torn area, acquiring resources there is often easier than in the more stable environments of Sky City or Crimson Tower.
"Well, it's good that you understand. Although our department is currently short-staffed, we have the most comprehensive data. If you want to learn anything, I suggest you visit the data office. If there's anything you don't understand, just ask someone; I'm sure they'll be happy to help newcomers," Fira pointed towards the door. "Alright, I have some matters to attend to, so I won't keep you any longer." (To be continued...)
