Chapter 240:
"Is this the last time?"
Freya reached out to take the potion, placing the box on the bench.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she swiftly pulled out the stopper with a pop and immediately poured the liquid into her mouth.
The taste was akin to high-proof liquor, and Freya felt an intense burning sensation fill her mouth.
Understanding that this was a normal reaction, she rolled it around with her tongue before swallowing.
"Hiss."
A wisp of blue smoke rose from her stomach, turning her fair cheeks a bright red.
This phenomenon lasted for only two minutes before dissipating.
Feeling the changes in her body, Freya narrowed her eyes slightly.
"The increase in mental power has been compressed again; it's time to prepare for the next level!"
Three months had allowed her to fill in most of her knowledge as a First-Level Wizard, and she had also learned quite a bit about Cloud City.
After the incident at the Rune Department, Freya decided to move out of Crimson Eagle within two weeks. However, she did not go far and instead settled by the nearby lake.
The lake had no particular name, but due to the environmental factors here, there were not many ordinary people around—only some other wizards or apprentices from different factions residing nearby.
This place is not far from the Trading Tower of Sky City, but Crimson Eagle can travel here using some special means of transportation, so it does not affect her work in the Rune Department.
As for the next stage of the Meditation Method, she is still at the lowest level of First-Level Wizard. Therefore, there is no rush.
What she values most at the moment is the breakthrough into the Vaporization Level.
The potion she just drank is an Intermediate Potion that compresses mental power. Its main function is to compress the originally stable growth of mental power to a certain extent. Although it does not reach the standard for qualitative change, it can increase the chances of a breakthrough.
However, this type of potion is mostly consumed by wizards when they transition from Liquefaction Level to Crystallization Level. For instance, Freya used it during her breakthrough into Vaporization. Generally, only members of prominent families can afford such potions; ordinary wizards truly cannot.
Of course, with Freya's current financial situation, acquiring three bottles of this potion is about her limit. This has been accumulated since her apprenticeship.
From this, one can see how expensive potions are; they are simply unaffordable for impoverished wizards.
Quietly sensing the subtle changes in her mental power, Freya turned and walked towards her estate after a while.
This quaint yet not overly large estate is a property she purchased. Since it falls within the territory of Crimson Eagle, it cost very little.
On either side of the dark red gate are two black pillars. As Freya approached, one of them suddenly emitted a red line. Then, the gate opened automatically.
Freya does not like crowds, so she did not purchase any servants for this estate. However, for convenience, she made some slight modifications using runes obtained from the Rune Department.
For example, there was the Black Crystal Guardian from earlier, the hidden Crimson Bird Vigilance Rune, and the densely packed Explosive Runes Trap set on the walls, among others.
Thus, unless a wizard at Crystallization Level or above forcefully intrudes, it is virtually impossible for anyone to enter without Freya's consent.
Moreover, in addition to some necessary protective measures, Freya also specifically purchased a more advanced isolation rune from her privileges in the Rune Department to block various energy scans for her privacy and security.
Walking along the stone-paved path of the manor, she pushed open the door and immediately proceeded down the stone staircase into the basement.
The basement was spacious, built by the previous owner of the manor for the convenience of experiments, and Freya had not made any changes to it afterward.
In the darkness, Freya walked to one side of the basement and found a button, pressing it.
With a hiss, the dim basement was instantly illuminated.
A massive circular magic circle came into view, surrounded by numerous embedded runes. In the center of the magic circle was an image of a Bird seemingly bound by countless chains.
A faint Azure Wind Flow gently swirled around the Bird.
Next to this giant magic circle was a long table, on which lay three Black Boxes and some miscellaneous items.
Casting a cautious glance at the circular magic circle on the ground, Freya carefully walked around to the table and reached out to open all three boxes simultaneously.
The first contained a red Heart, the second held a Azure sphere, and the third was a circular vessel filled with yellow liquid.
Looking at the three objects in the boxes, Freya casually picked up the leftmost Heart.
The Heart did not seem to be dead; it continued to gently pulse in Freya's hand, with wisps of Wind Energy Particles emanating from it.
“Heart of the Windwing Bird, Ister's Ore Crystal, and processed White Deer's Blood. With these three items complete, all that remains is the Venom Lizard's Flower Stamen.”
The three items on the table served the same purpose: to increase the chances of breakthrough and provide a certain degree of mental amplification effect.
These were preparations that Freya had made over these past few days. The items were not particularly valuable; as someone with the identity of a Crimson Eagle Official Wizard, she had managed to acquire them at a very low cost.
It is somewhat difficult regarding the final Venom Lizard's Flower Stamen.
The Venom Lizard is a special type of Demonized Creature that lives underground, with a strength equivalent to that of a Liquefaction-Level Wizard, and it is a social creature.
Typically, when a Venom Lizard is discovered, there are at least two or more others nearby.
On the head of this powerful creature grows a type of plant, which blooms white flowers once the Venom Lizard reaches adulthood.
The flowers provide a significant enhancement to the Venom Lizard itself and greatly improve its mental strength.
However, due to its power and social nature, these flowers are extremely precious. Even if one manages to kill a Lizard and collect the flower, its shelf life is tragically short; it wilts completely within three days, and there is no way to preserve it.
Thus, even the Trading Tower in Sky City cannot do anything about such items.
However, if Freya wants to make a significant leap forward, she will need this item.
Of course, this does not mean that there are no alternatives to the Venom Lizard's Flower Stamen, but rather that this item is currently the most suitable for Freya, as the properties of the Venom Lizard include not only poison but also an affinity for wind. (To be continued...)
