Chapter 244:
In the evening, two carriages slowly arrived at the town of Roy.
After a brief inquiry with the townsfolk, they quickly found a local inn.
The inn was a three-story building; although not very luxurious, it was clean.
Roy went to negotiate with the innkeeper.
Meanwhile, Freya, who had just gotten off the carriage, was organizing some items she had prepared earlier.
The mysterious figure in the black robe had disappeared after the carriage stopped.
Freya had quietly asked Roy about this person before, but all she learned was that he came from an organization called Abyssal Sea and was named Raphael.
She knew nothing else about him, not even what type of wizard he was.
This made Freya feel quite suspicious, but since Roy dared to recruit him, it indicated that this person's presence posed no immediate danger to them.
Skillfully securing four blue Stilettos to her specialized gear at her waist and placing a spherical object into her pouch, Freya glanced at the contents of her travel chest and nodded in satisfaction.
For safety's sake, she had brought almost everything she could prepare for this trip.
Even if she were to face a Liquid Wizard now, she felt confident that she could hold her own with these supplies.
Just as she finished organizing her things, a sturdy young man dressed in Black Leather Armor and carrying two slender Stilettos at his waist approached her respectfully.
"Lady Freya, Lord Roy asked me to inform you that the accommodations have been arranged. Your room is on the leftmost side of the third floor."
This person is one of the two Third-Rank Apprentices besides the three Official Wizards.
"Okay, got it," Freya said calmly.
She looked up towards the third floor, where Roy had just pushed open a window. Upon seeing Freya looking over, he smiled as a greeting.
Returning the smile, Freya took her suitcase from the carriage and walked into the inn.
After a simple dinner with little conversation, the group tacitly returned to their respective rooms to wait for the actions planned for early the next morning.
Freya placed her suitcase on one side of the bed and looked at the books she brought for a while before beginning her meditation and consolidation, preparing for an imminent breakthrough.
Through this period of understanding, Freya also realized that Crimson Eagle's Meditation Method is only of above-average level in the entire Cloud City.
The Empowerment Spell that comes with the Meditation Method is not particularly special among some other Wizard Organizations.
In fact, any well-known Wizard Organization tends to have its own unique characteristics in their Meditation Methods.
Some very rare Advanced Meditation Methods can even automatically promote levels without the need for strenuous efforts to break through.
However, such Meditation Methods only exist within powerful Wizard Organizations or prominent families, and practicing them often comes with various stringent conditions.
Of course, although Crimson Eagle's Meditation Method is of average level, it is still something that many wizards from other organizations aspire to but cannot easily attain.
Generally, a typical Wizard Organization's Meditation Method can at most allow practitioners to reach the level of a Second-Rank Wizard.
In contrast, if there are no unexpected circumstances, Crimson Eagle's Meditation Method theoretically allows Freya to reach the level of a Fourth-Level Archmage.
To understand, each level increase for a wizard represents an elevation in their life essence. For the fourth level, many materials indicate that this level is a significant threshold.
In the vast gathering place of wizards known as Cloud City, a third-level wizard might still encounter high-ranking members of the Wizard Organization, but for a fourth-level existence, they are only found in books.
Or perhaps they are great beings guarding specific regions.
The most powerful force in Cloud City is Sky City, which oversees the Level Six Storm Leviathan. This entity can essentially be considered the guardian of all Cloud City.
The mere movement of such a being generates large amounts of Lightning Energy Particles and Water Energy Particles; if it were to act intentionally, it would result in a massive disaster.
This is almost akin to the Transcendence's Forest King.
Alternatively, the Transcendence's 'Forest King' could be seen as a Sixth Level wizard.
Of course, for Freya at her current level, delving into these matters requires a long journey ahead.
Moreover, to achieve personal breakthroughs, one needs not only to enhance their mental strength but also to gain self-awareness and accumulate various knowledge and insights.
In the darkness, Freya slowly opened her eyes and gently exhaled.
The excessive concentration of mental power caused her eyes to emit a faint Azure Light, which was particularly noticeable in the dark.
Within her right eye, an Azure rune was slowly rotating, emanating subtle mental fluctuations.
This phenomenon gave Freya a uniquely ethereal aura.
Fortunately, this occurrence lasted only a brief moment before fading away.
Outside the window, the clouds seemed to have thickened even more, suggesting that rain would soon fall.
The air was somewhat oppressive under the dark clouds.
After meditating, Freya had little intention of sleeping. She glanced around the pitch-black room before getting up and walking to the window.
This simple town had no nightlife, and among the many houses, only a few still had lights on.
As she looked at the dark night scene, she felt the changes within herself.
Having consumed the potion, she could sense the extreme compression of her mental power in her brain at every moment. This feeling on a soul level was quite special.
It seemed that her mental power was slowly transforming into another kind of substance, or perhaps undergoing a qualitative change; it was fascinating.
"If everything goes as I envisioned, after this adventure, I should be able to leap directly to Liquefaction Level. It will also be time for a break then."
She murmured with some emotion.
A long time had passed since she left Dragon Harbor. If Freya hadn't gone through all this, she would have already graduated from Dragon Academy by now.
"I wonder how my father and the others are doing."
When she left the academy by boat, Baron was to establish a Mercenary group with the remaining people.
Although Baron was not a Great Knight, he was one of the top figures in a place like Dragon Harbor.
With her sister Irena's financial support behind him, it was likely that they wouldn't be doing too poorly, even if it wasn't as good as before.
As these thoughts flowed through her mind, when Freya felt it was getting late and planned to return to bed for some rest,
a dark figure slowly emerged from the forest at the entrance of the town.
This caught Freya off guard as she was just about to take a break, her eyes narrowing slightly.
'Smack.'
A raindrop fell from the sky, landing on the windowsill with a crisp sound.
Like the prelude to a downpour, large sheets of rain began to envelop the area.
Even with Freya's keen eyesight, she could make out the shadow amidst the fine rain; it was the Mysterious Black Robe who had disappeared as soon as they got out of the car.
At that moment, he was walking toward the inn with an unusually slow pace, his black Leather Boots making a strange 'smack, smack' sound as they stepped into the newly formed Puddle.
Standing by the window, Freya frowned slightly at his odd appearance.
Suddenly, she noticed that the mysterious figure seemed to be holding something resembling a Sphere in his right hand.
As the rain washed over it, some liquid began to trickle out.
A faint smell of blood made Freya immediately Understand what it was.
"Did this person go out to commit murder?"
While she was speculating wildly, the Mysterious Black Robe had already reached the inn and without any apparent action, walked straight through the wooden door.
Freya withdrew her gaze and closed the window to prevent rainwater from blowing into the room.
Before long, footsteps and the sound of a door opening could be heard from the corridor outside.
Although Freya was puzzled by the mysterious person, there was no conflict or interaction between them, so there was no need for her to probe further.
As long as what he did did not affect this plan, Freya would not ask further questions.
Three hours later.
Knock, knock, knock.
The crisp sound of knocking woke Freya up, and the familiar voice of the Third-Rank Apprentice came from behind the door.
"Lady Freya, it's time. We should set off."
"Okay! Please wait a moment," Freya replied.
To facilitate her movements, she hadn't changed out of her clothes to rest; she simply got out of bed, smoothed out the wrinkles on her robe, and walked to the door to open it. (To be continued...)
