Chapter 245:
Freya was the second to last to come out.
Not long after she left the inn, the mysterious figure in the black robe also emerged.
Outside the inn, Roy seemed to be preparing some temporary equipment, inserting two black iron rods into his waist and covering them with a robe.
The other two Third-Rank Apprentices were also organizing their weapons and gear.
When Roy saw Freya and the figure behind her come out, he smiled.
"It is currently three forty in the morning. Time is tight; the opening of the secret realm only lasts for half an hour, so we need to move quickly."
"No problem," Freya nodded.
The figure in the black robe behind her remained silent.
The others had already grown accustomed to this phenomenon and found it unremarkable.
"Alright, let's set off now. The path to the entrance is somewhat complicated, so you all better stick close to me."
Roy softly murmured a spell and waved his hand.
A cool blue aura appeared around him, and then he dashed toward the road leading out of town, moving at a speed comparable to that of a swift horse.
As Roy took the lead, Freya lightly stomped her foot, a swirl of Azure Wind enveloping her legs as she followed closely behind.
The remaining two Third-Rank Apprentices exchanged glances and kept pace with the two in front.
The last figure in a black robe waited until the four had completely disappeared outside the town before slowly stepping in their direction.
However, as he walked, his entire body began to disintegrate. From beneath the dark robe, countless black beetles surged forth, quickly burrowing into the ground upon contact.
Before long, he had completely vanished.
...
In the early morning forest, it was nearly the darkest hour.
The air was filled with a damp, musty scent after the recent rain.
Leather boots sank into the soft, wet leaves, creating an unsettling feeling.
Everywhere were tangled branches and wild grass.
Despite the harsh environment, Freya's gaze remained fixed on Roy, who emitted a faint blue glow ahead.
She noticed that wherever Roy stepped, fine blue ice crystals formed on the ground, seemingly marking his path.
This phenomenon made her cautious, and she occasionally scattered some black seeds.
Most ancient secret realms contained various traps to some extent, some even lured creatures from other places to serve as guardians.
The information Freya had was mostly relayed from Roy.
But she was unaware of the specific realities. Therefore, for safety's sake, she decided to closely follow Roy as they entered the secret realm to prevent any accidents.
Roy ran through the forest without stopping, as if something was guiding him.
Time passed minute by minute.
After Freya cast Light Wind on herself twice, Roy finally came to a halt.
At this point, it had been over twenty minutes since they left.
The continuous running left Roy breathing a bit heavily. However, Freya showed no signs of discomfort behind him.
"Have we arrived?"
Seeing Roy stop, Freya quickly walked up behind him and suddenly asked.
"Yes."
Roy eased his breathing and turned to glance back.
In the dark forest, a bright ice-blue path stood out distinctly. Two flickering figures could be seen quickly approaching; they were there to assist the two Third-Rank Apprentices behind them.
Yet the mysterious figure in the black robe had not appeared.
"They probably need a little more time. Let's wait here for a moment; the entrance is just ahead. You can take a look first."
Roy pointed towards the Dark Forest and spoke to Freya.
Considering the pace of the two apprentices, it would take about five more minutes for them to arrive. Thus, Freya simply nodded in agreement with Roy's suggestion.
She followed the direction of his finger.
After walking through the damp thicket for about two minutes, some small white stones gradually appeared on the ground covered with decaying leaves.
The surfaces of these stones were very smooth, clearly man-made.
Freya glanced at the gravel on the ground, bent down to pick up one of the stones, sniffed it, and then tossed it aside.
"Indeed, it's the White Scale Stone used for constructing the secret realm," she murmured softly.
She had visited the construction of a secret realm at Fran Sith's place before, so she understood a bit about these things.
However, the stones on the ground were scattered, indicating that the entrance to this secret realm had likely not been completely destroyed or fully exposed yet.
To enter, it seemed they would still need to rely on Roy.
After standing quietly for five minutes, Roy and the other three approached.
No one spoke.
Roy scanned the surroundings, observing the distribution of the gravel.
After a long while, he took out a black fruit-like object from his pocket and gently tossed it towards one section of the gravel-covered ground.
'Smack!'
The fruit seemed to touch something and instantly exploded.
A mass of black liquid clung to the air, slowly twisting as if there were some solid substance within it.
Before long, a half-opened Black Door appeared before everyone.
Seeing the door appear, Roy let out a gentle sigh of relief.
"It seems that the entrance to this secret realm hasn't changed automatically with the passage of time. The entrance has a time limit, but exiting isn't as troublesome. So, everyone, let's hurry in."
With that, he took the initiative to walk towards the entrance of the secret realm.
Determined, Freya disregarded the others and closely followed behind Roy.
The remaining three quickly followed them towards the entrance.
...
'Pop!'
As soon as they stepped into the secret realm, the previously pitch-black space suddenly brightened.
Freya slightly raised her head and discovered that above her was a clear blue sky, with a few white clouds drifting lazily.
Surrounding her was a lawn made up of strange yellow-green flowers.
A gentle breeze brushed against her golden hair.
The air was filled with a light, sweet floral fragrance.
Beneath her feet was a path paved with blue stone slabs, and ahead stood Roy, dressed in a blue robe, facing away from her, seemingly engaged in something.
Seeing this scene, Freya furrowed her brows slightly, instinctively sensing that something was off.
She turned around and noticed the solitary Black Door behind her was still ajar, revealing a dark forest outside.
However, the three people behind her strangely did not follow.
After a moment of thought, she approached Roy and asked,
"Lord Roy, was it like this when you came last time?"
It seemed that upon hearing Freya's question, Roy's body suddenly trembled, and his head jerked around almost in a complete circle, facing Freya in an extremely bizarre manner.
"Ga!?" (To be continued...)
