Chapter 259:
Among the two injured members of the Crimson Eagle Guard, one was Isaac, whom Freya recognized.
Although they were far apart at the time, his last attack had nearly turned the surrounding forest into a desert.
The dense energy radiation would likely prevent any plants from regrowing for several years.
Yet, this level of wizard was now lying motionless on a stretcher.
His upper body seemed fine, but below the waist, there was almost no flesh attached, and it was gruesome.
The other Crimson Eagle Guard member appeared to be in much better condition than Isaac; he had no particularly severe injuries, though wisps of black smoke occasionally emanated from him.
These wisps would explode with a pop as soon as they drifted ten centimeters away from his body, which was quite strange.
The witch, who looked like a young girl, frowned as she observed the two lying on the stretcher, her gaze slightly cold.
She turned and began negotiating with the leader of the Crimson Eagle Guard.
Freya and Kathy stood silently at a distance with the other ordinary wizards.
After a long while, it seemed they had reached an agreement. Several leaders left one after another, leaving only the three Red-Robed Wizards behind.
The three wizards exchanged a few words among themselves.
Then, the elderly man with silver hair, similar to the Runes Department Head, nodded at him. The two of them suddenly flew up into the air using some unknown method.
They quickly headed in the direction of the secret realm.
The remaining witch let out a cold snort, and with a swift motion, she drew a massive Black Longsword from a swirling mass of dark mist.
The sword was nearly two meters long, towering over her own height. She effortlessly rested it on her shoulder and quickly made her way into the forest.
The crowd respectfully watched as the three Red-Robed Wizards departed completely before they began to discuss among themselves.
Kathy and Freya exchanged glances, both displaying expressions of confusion.
Freya pondered for a moment and uncertainly said, "Could it be that those three intend to enter the secret realm directly to search for the Source?"
"That's possible," Kathy replied, unsure of what to think.
The three were all High-ranking Officials from headquarters, and their decisions were beyond the assistance of these ordinary wizards.
In the distance, Silver-Haired Fira slowly approached the members of the Rune Department.
He bore a heavy look of fatigue, with dark circles under his eyes suggesting he hadn't rested well lately.
Fira glanced at the expressions of those around him before speaking.
"Alright, if nothing unexpected happens, this secret realm will soon become our Resource Point. Everyone should return and rest for now while we await further instructions on the next steps."
The crowd nodded and dispersed accordingly.
Freya and Kathy also planned to return to their tent.
At this point, everything depended on the three Red-Robed Wizards.
Moreover, Freya had many matters to attend to, and since there was currently no work, she was happy to enjoy some leisure time.
In a somewhat dark forest.
Near the entrance of the secret realm, large patches of Black Insects covered the ground and trees, resembling a carpet made of Black Bugs.
These Black Bugs crawled slowly and occasionally formed black Faces, whispering in an unknown language.
'Not enough, Father still needs a large amount of flesh and blood.'
The voice that emerged was a rustling sound, particularly eerie in this forest.
Suddenly, it seemed that the Black Bugs in the distance sensed something; their previously crawling movements abruptly froze.
Then, they began to retreat like a tide towards the entrance of the secret realm.
Before long, the entire area of the forest was surprisingly cleared, as if those Black Bugs had just been an illusion.
'Whoosh!'
With a light whistle, a ball of Azure Flame suddenly flew towards the ground.
With a bang, a large amount of black soil splattered everywhere.
Two Old Wizards dressed in identical Red Robes slowly emerged from the flames.
The Runes Department Head looked around the environment and lightly sniffed the air.
Another Old Wizard observed him and frowned.
"What is it, Bruce? Did you find something?"
"It’s definitely the scent of Hell Creatures, but it seems to be more than just Corpse Worms," the Runes Department Head, Bruce, said in a low voice.
"Is that so?" The Old Wizard glanced around and flicked his hand.
A thin black line shot from his fingertip into the distance and soon returned.
He examined the black line at his fingertip and frowned.
"All the Corpse Worms in the area have vanished. It looks like they’ve retreated back into the secret realm."
"Mm." Bruce nodded. "Sister Sani should arrive in about five minutes. I'll set things up; you keep an eye on the surroundings for me."
"Sure."
Seeing the other nod, Bruce quickly pulled out several white cylindrical objects from behind him and swiftly inserted them into the surrounding forest.
Once all the cylinders were placed, he began to softly chant a spell while taking out a Black Crystal and placing it on the ground.
As soon as the crystal touched the ground, it melted into a massive Rune Array, flickering with black electric light, connecting with the surrounding white cylinders.
When all the white cylinders emitted black electric light, he suddenly pointed at the Rune Array.
With a loud 'bang', a massive Minotaur engulfed in black flames slowly rose from the center of the magic circle.
The Minotaur was covered in dense Tadpole-shaped Runes and stood nearly three meters tall.
As soon as the Minotaur emerged, it seemed to receive a command and automatically walked straight into a nearby forest.
It approached a giant tree and, without any warning, extended its two sturdy arms and forcefully thrust them toward the Trunk.
However, when the Minotaur's hands made contact with the Trunk, they suddenly vanished as if they had plunged into thin air. Then, it pulled its hands back with great force.
With a loud crash, a shattering sound echoed as an invisible space was torn open, creating a large black hole.
It had violently ripped open the already closed Secret Realm Entrance, and it was permanent.
Looking at the torn Secret Realm Entrance, Bruce revealed a satisfied expression.
At that moment, the last Red-Robed Witch quickly emerged from the forest.
The three of them watched as the Minotaur gradually turned into a black stone statue. Once it completely solidified, they approached the Secret Realm Entrance.
The witch named Sani walked at the front. She waved her pitch-black long knife and spoke in a chilling tone.
"Let's go. We need to see what strange things that mutated bug has!"
Without waiting for the other two to respond, she quickly stepped into the Secret Realm Entrance.
Bruce watched Sani enter the secret realm swiftly and shook his head.
"It seems that Sister Sani is really getting angry this time."
"Hehe, who would have thought that the one injured this time would be the only Bloodline of her family?" the Old Wizard smiled.
"Alright, let's get started."
"Mm!"
...
Under the dark sky was a large patch of tall weeds.
This was the Cultivation Area of the secret realm.
Originally, this area was home to many underground creatures, but it was now exceptionally quiet, filled with a strong smell of blood.
Beneath the thick cover of weeds, streams of Black Bugs quickly gathered, soon transforming into mysterious figures dressed in black Robes.
These figures simultaneously looked up into the distance, where a Red-Robed Witch carrying a massive Black Blade was rapidly approaching.
One of the figures in black slowly murmured an unknown language, and then transformed into a swarm of gray insects.
"Devour her flesh and blood, Invader!!"
The swarm of gray insects formed a gray Face, opening its mouth wide and lunging towards Sani.
"Hmph!"
Without a word, Sani's gaze sharpened. She abruptly twisted her Black Longsword in her hand, and a black Crescent Blade shot out suddenly.
'Bang!!'
The Crescent Blade exploded upon contact with the flying insects, forming a dense web made of Black Liquid.
The Face composed of gray insects was immediately enveloped by the web, producing a rustling sound. Before long, it began to corrode slowly, emitting wisps of black smoke.
"Is this all you've got?"
Seeing the insects easily dealt with, Sani walked over slowly and picked up one that was still alive to examine it closely.
'Hiss'
Suddenly, she inhaled sharply, quickly dropping the insect from her hand and looking at her fingers in disbelief.
A thin cut had appeared on her fair fingertip, with bright red blood oozing from the wound.
However, a wisp of Black Smoke quickly enveloped the injury, and soon the wound disappeared completely.
Looking at her now healed fingertip, Sani frowned.
"Can it really bypass my Force Field?"
Then she lowered her hand, and a fervent expression emerged in her eyes, her tone filled with intense battle spirit.
"Good! It's been over fifty years since anyone has managed to injure me! Excellent!"
With that, she raised the Black Longsword high and murmured an incantation.
Under the effect of the spell, the dark longsword began to melt rapidly, transforming into a set of pitch-black armor that she donned.
The armor seemed to be liquid, continuously writhing, and a pitch-black Big Mouth slowly emerged at her abdomen.
Once that Big Mouth fully formed, an extremely dangerous aura suddenly erupted from her.
Sani extended her hand, and a relatively shorter long knife quickly extended out.
Then, she charged directly toward the entrance of the second area.
Not long after she dashed out, Bruce and the other person barely arrived.
Bruce looked at the large patches of Black Liquid left on the ground, furrowing his brow; the air still carried the energy from the previous strike and a faint smell of blood.
Suddenly, his pupils constricted slightly as a conspicuously bright red blood droplet came into view on the ground.
"Hey? This is Sister Sani's. She’s injured?"
"What?" Hearing Bruce's words, the Old Wizard beside him also noticed the traces on the ground.
"It seems there really is something unusual here. We need to speed up! Have we confirmed the location of that Nest?"
"Of course!" Bruce replied as he took out a Black Crystal ball to confirm.
"Good! Let's go!"
...
Biological Zone.
The vast grassland was filled with large swarms of Black Insects, rolling like waves and continuously making rustling sounds.
In the middle of the Insect Sea was a massive circular pool.
The pool was filled with bright red blood, and a naked Blonde Man was immersed in the Blood Pool.
The Blood Pool occasionally churned, transforming into fierce faces that emitted silent wails.
"Shh!"
It sounded as if something was leaking; the blood in the Blood Pool rapidly decreased, and before long, it was completely dried up, as if absorbed by the Blonde Man.
After a long while, the Blonde Man slowly opened his eyes, revealing a look of joy. He reached out to touch his strong body and softly said, "Finally, finally back to my original appearance."
His voice seemed to be a blend of countless voices, eerily strange.
However, just as he was about to rise, one of his arms suddenly exploded, scattering into a mass of Black Insects.
"No!!!"
Watching the Black Insects continuously surge from the severed arm, his face twisted in anguish as he let out a mournful roar.
Immediately after, his newly formed body exploded again, this time the entire torso.
In an instant, large amounts of blood filled the entire Blood Pool once more.
A Fierce Face composed of Black Bugs slowly emerged from the Blood Pool.
"Too low-level! This flesh is too low-level!" the Face roared, its voice produced by the friction of insects.
Suddenly, the Face seemed to sense something and paused slightly.
"Oh? A creature has entered? Three higher-level insects? Just right!"
The Face composed of Black Bugs slowly twisted, forming a Tall Shadow wrapped in a black robe that emerged from the Blood Pool.
He forcefully tugged at the black robe made of Black Bugs, his tone filled with disgust.
"This damned curse! This damned body! Fex! I will not let you go!"
As he cursed, he transformed with a loud bang into a mass of gray insects, flying towards the direction he sensed.
With his movement, the entire Insect Sea began to churn violently.
Gradually, the entire Insect Sea started to converge and twist together, forming a massive giant.
The giant took steps that produced thunderous sounds like an earthquake, blocking out the daylight as it advanced alongside the swarm of gray insects.
...
Large swathes of Black Insects surged toward the figure clad in a Red Robe.
However, upon contact, they were quickly corroded by the black slime surrounding her.
Yet even so, these Black Bugs continued to charge forward relentlessly.
"For father! Father!!"
The inexplicable rustling sound annoyed Sani. She had already located the nest of the Black Bugs but did not expect their numbers to be so overwhelming.
Moreover, these Black Bugs can strangely ignore the Force Field defense and have extremely high Spell resistance, making large-scale Spell damage completely ineffective.
The only way to deal with them is to continuously consume and dissolve them with the Black Blade's death slime.
"Die, all of you! Let's see who can devour whom!"
The Big Mouth on her black armor suddenly opened wide, generating a powerful suction.
The surrounding swarm of Black Bugs immediately flowed into the Big Mouth of the armor.
