Chapter 264:
Regarding her choice of weapon, she originally planned to purchase an Energy-Type Cursed Item. However, after staying at the Trading Tower for a week, she found that any Cursed Item of this type was either a ranged attack item or a dedicated item for rituals.
Items purely for physical attacks were either too expensive or of too low quality.
After all, most wizards preferred casting spells from a distance, and in close combat, whether or not one could break through the opponent's Power Field was secondary; the risk of triggering dangerous effects was much higher than with ranged spellcasting.
Thus, there were very few alternative Melee Wizards like Freya.
"Ordinary metals have poor conductivity for Energy Particles, while higher-grade ones are too brittle and not suitable for slashing," Freya pondered as her fingers lightly tapped on the window frame, producing a rhythmic sound.
"Moreover, if I were to create a weapon from scratch, it would be too troublesome. The last Cross Sword barely reached the level of an Intermediate Enchanted Item by chance. If I were to make another one and it got damaged in battle..."
The weapon she envisioned needed to be durable and resistant to breaking, have strong conductivity, sharpness, and sustainability; ideally, it should be able to self-repair if broken.
However, such a weapon could only be achieved with a Magic Weapon or a Transcendence weapon that possessed the Spirit of the Weapon; otherwise, it would not meet her criteria.
Outside the window, several large white birds flew slowly through the misty clouds toward the left side, seemingly indifferent to the Airship nearby.
Freya's azure eyes followed the flight of the birds.
Suddenly, it seemed she had an idea, and her expression brightened.
"That's right! I can draw inspiration from the Scorching Touch Enchantment Spell Model and try to create an energy-type weapon highly condensed with Energy Particles or a similar Force Field weapon. Wouldn't that satisfy all my conditions?"
Although most of the Spell Models she accumulated at Elgreen Academy and Crimson Eagle were not suitable for her, there were still quite a few related to Enchantment or Force Field spells.
Although there are significant structural differences among these Spell Models, there are also many similarities; at least the basic Spell formulas and combinations are largely the same.
If she conducts multiple experiments based on these Basic Spell Models, it shouldn't be too difficult to limit their special shapes.
The exploration of the Ruined World has gradually begun to show some signs after such a long time.
Although this trip seems to pose little danger, Freya knows that the likelihood of bizarre events occurring in that world is many times higher than in the Wizarding World.
As her most powerful combat method, the importance of weapons cannot be overstated.
"The high concentration of energy itself carries a great risk; if not controlled properly, it could easily lead to an explosion. Moreover, as far as I know, this type of condensed Spell consumes a considerable amount of mental energy and has a short duration. However, its advantages include strong power and high burst capability. On the other hand, Force Field-type Spells require relatively less mental energy and have good stability and duration, but their power is inferior to the former."
Freya pondered the pros and cons of the two types of Spells.
Most battles among wizards rely on instant casting of spells, cursed items they carry, and special Secret Arts. The duration of battles is generally very short, with drawn-out fights being quite rare.
Freya, aside from her close combat abilities, also follows this approach.
However, her Empowerment Spell itself belongs to the Force Field category, which can provide a certain amplification effect for Force Field-type Spells.
Additionally, she is now classified as a Liquid Wizard, allowing her to perform simple modifications and enhancements on herself. If she strengthens her abilities in the direction of Force Fields, then her Empowerment Spell's power will surely increase further.
However,
"Actually, if I set aside my advantages in close combat, what makes me stronger than other wizards is merely my exceptional cognitive ability and precise control over Force Field-type Spells. While they are indeed suitable for me, their strength is limited. They are sufficient for self-defense but lack offensive capability."
After thinking for a while, Freya had already made up her mind about her choice. She then turned around and walked straight to the table, spreading out a sheet of white paper to begin designing the most basic Model formula.
With her current knowledge reserves, designing a low-level Spell Model is not difficult for her.
Among many wizards, it is not uncommon for the Erudite to design their own Models, and even some novice-level wizards can create wondrous Secret Arts.
Wizards of that level are typically high-ranking members and core forces within every organization or family.
Soon, the blank sheet of paper on the table was covered with dense handwriting, mostly consisting of commonly used formulas, while a small portion contained Freya's own inspirations and insights.
After a while, Freya slowly set down her Feather Pen, and in front of her lay a stack of written materials.
She lightly tapped the table with her fingers, her gaze scanning the missing information within.
"The establishment of a Basic Model is not too difficult; next comes the continuous experimentation, then extracting the inconsistencies and adding some main frameworks."
After a long moment, she withdrew her gaze and extended one hand, then closed her eyes.
Before long, a strand of Azure Wind began to slowly coalesce in her outstretched palm, rapidly spinning in a whirlwind form.
As Freya deliberately concentrated, that strand of Azure Wind Flow expanded and showed signs of deepening color.
Feeling the power of the wind flow in her hand, Freya suddenly opened her eyes and clenched her hand.
With a 'whoosh,' the Azure whirlwind, which had already grown to over twice her height, began to slowly shrink and change shape under Freya's mental control.
Just as it had shrunk halfway, there was a sudden 'whoosh' sound as the hurricane in Freya's hand abruptly expanded.
The raging hurricane instantly turned her entire room into chaos.
Ignoring the scene she had caused, Freya looked at the remnants of the Azure Wind Flow with a slight frown.
"The concept of the Basic Model is fine, but achieving high concentration is still somewhat difficult," she mused.
After pondering for a moment, she began to gather Azure Gale once again.
Ten minutes later.
On the Black Giant Airship, Freya stood on the deck, dressed in a thick Robe. The white fur lining of her hood covered her mouth and nose, leaving only her deep blue eyes visible.
She was now at a very high altitude; even her exhaled breath formed tiny White Mist that drifted away in the wind.
Below the Airship lay a white mountain range, with towering peaks where some large creatures could be faintly seen moving.
Freya gazed expressionlessly at the white mountains below.
This mountain range was called the Chimetrar Mountain Range. Beyond this range, there were five or six more before reaching Dragon Coast.
She recalled that it had taken over a month to arrive at Dis Mountain Range by ship from the sea. Now, departing from the more distant Cloud City only required half a month to reach her destination.
This speed, while slower than airplanes in her previous life, was already considered extremely fast in this era.
This was also one of the conveniences of being a wizard; if she were an ordinary person, she would likely never leave her own circle in her lifetime.
"I wonder how my father and the others have been during this long time. I really miss them," she thought.
On this trip back, she intended to check on Baron and their living conditions. If things were not good, she would provide some assistance. Additionally, she wanted to understand the aftermath of what had forced her to leave home.
But if she were to settle down here, it would probably be impossible.
After all, with Freya's current strength, she has already surpassed the level of ordinary people, and returning to her previous life is out of the question.
Not to mention that the naturally formed Mental Field around her is something ordinary people cannot withstand.
This radiation-like Force Field poses a danger similar to that of a chronic virus for those without protection from Energy Particles; prolonged exposure could lead to corrosion and even mutation.
This is perhaps her only regret in becoming a witch; since her arrival in this world, the closest she has come to others is that small group of people.
Thoughts flowed gently through her mind.
Due to the temperature, she was the only one on the deck at that moment.
With a slight sigh, she adjusted her Robe. Just as she was about to return to her room, a mournful scream suddenly echoed from afar.
Furrowing her brows, Freya lifted her head to look in that direction.
There, a strange Lizard with flesh wings and a silvery-white body was clinging to a large bird, its claws gripping tightly onto the bird's wings while its head relentlessly attacked the bird's neck.
"Oh? There are actually creatures flying at this altitude?"
Freya's eyes sparkled with curiosity. Through mental sensing, she detected a faint energy pollution aura surrounding both creatures, indicating they were not naturally evolved beings.
"The physical attacks aren't impressive, but their bodily resistance is quite good. It's just right for me to test the power of my previous Spell."
At that moment, the large bird's head was torn off by the strange flying Lizard, and bright red blood rained down like a shower.
Just as it intended to land and enjoy its meal, an Azure Flowing Light suddenly flashed before her eyes.
A faint sound of wind echoed as the Lizard and the large bird beneath it were evenly split in two, quickly descending afterward.
On the deck of the Airship, Freya slowly lowered her hand. In her palm, a transparent Cross Sword formed from a circle of Azure Flow transformed into scattered Azure whirlwinds that rapidly dissipated.
Looking at the results of her actions, Freya nodded in satisfaction.
"The sharpness is three times stronger than my previous weapon, and without any weight restrictions, it can be even faster. More importantly, since the weapon is made of condensed energy, it can also serve as a high-concentration explosive in emergencies. With just a bit more refinement, it can truly be used in combat."
After contemplating several suitable methods, she turned and left the deck to return to her room.
Five Hours.
About sixty miles from Dragon Harbor, above the forest next to Blackstone City.
A massive Black Airship floated slowly above.
After a while, a dark figure leaped down from the Airship.
The howling wind rushed past her ears as Freya squinted at the forest growing closer below, quickly murmuring a spell.
With a loud 'pop,' she suddenly felt as if some force had seized her, causing her to halt mid-air before slowly descending.
"I had guessed that the Airship wouldn't stop here, but I didn't expect to have to use the Levitation Spell to land myself. How unexpected."
Looking up at the Airship that was ascending again, Freya shook her head slightly.
This location is considered the final path of the Airship. She had previously left the contact information for the Airship, so she just needed to wait here before leaving.
With her deliberate speed, she floated in the air for about ten minutes before finally landing on the ground.
At this moment, Freya had changed into her former hunting outfit, her golden hair neatly tied into a ponytail, with two Black Daggers at her waist, resembling her past appearance.
The only change was that the once-fitted hunting outfit now felt much tighter.
She tugged at the collar of her shirt and quickly determined her direction before heading towards Blackstone City.
Three hours later.
A Black Carriage set off directly from Blackstone City towards Dragon Harbor.
Freya, driving the carriage, calmly observed the scenery along the roadside.
The energy in the air was so sparse that it was almost nonexistent, and the surrounding flora and fauna were exceedingly ordinary.
There was nothing related to wizards, which made Freya feel somewhat dazed. For a moment, she felt an inexplicable sensation in her heart, as if this was reality and everything she had encountered in recent years was merely an illusion.
However, this feeling was fleeting. Having witnessed too much already, she understood that the complexity of this world far exceeded anyone's imagination.
Without considering the horses' fatigue, Freya continued at full speed.
At this point, she was eager to meet Baron and his group.
The jolting of the carriage caused her tied-up hair to become somewhat disheveled.
After traveling for about two hours, the once-dense forest began to thin out, and houses could be seen in the distance.
"There's about half an hour left until we arrive."
As she watched the scenery rush by, Freya calculated the distance in her mind, and her previously calm demeanor began to show signs of disturbance.
Suddenly, a faint metallic clash and indistinct shouts of battle echoed from the nearby road, interrupting her thoughts.
There was also a subtle hint of blood in the air.
Freya frowned slightly, slowing down the carriage as she looked up.
In her line of sight, more than ten individuals clad in simple Leather Armor were surrounding two White Carriages.
On the ground lay two bodies of the carriage guards, indicating that the battle was nearing its end.
