Chapter Two Hundred Sixty-Nine:
"Women? Why?"
Hearing Steve's words, the burly man named Sharu threw the gem in his hand onto the pile of coins on the table, confused.
"That's not your concern."
Steve seemed to be in a bad mood. He straightened up and dumped all the coins from the table into a bag. After slinging the bag over his shoulder, he slightly turned his head to glance at the remaining three.
"And next time, don't just throw people into the sea. Either kill them or sell them. If you don't handle it properly, our business is finished!"
"Understood, boss," the three nodded in acknowledgment.
Their attitude pleased Steve. He tightened the bag on his back and then turned to leave the room.
He placed the coins in a location known only to the four of them.
Two hours later, he arrived on deck.
The damp, salty sea breeze accompanied by the scorching sun baked the deck, giving the entire ship a faint fishy smell.
On the watchtower, a black and white flag slowly rose, fluttering in the wind. The design on the flag was not the ship's shark emblem but rather a Pink Giant Octopus.
Not far away, several bare-backed crew members were turning a capstan, making creaking sounds as they pulled the anchor up from the sea.
With a dull thud, the heavy anchor was secured, and a few people quickly fastened it in place.
The white sails behind Steve slowly descended.
He squinted slightly, looking at the travelers who had boarded the ship, then cleared his throat and shouted loudly.
"Shark's Fury! Set sail!!"
The passenger ship gradually left the port, slowly navigating into the deep blue ocean like other vessels.
Taking a gentle sniff of the familiar sea breeze, Steve instinctively tightened his grip on a broken ring hidden in his hand, which surprisingly still emitted a faint green glow.
"I didn't expect to encounter such an existence. I hope nothing unexpected happens this time."
...
Sitting in her cabin, Freya felt the slight rocking of the ship and understood that they had set off.
Daqier City, the place where she had stayed during her time on the run, still lingered in Freya's memory. She never expected that the city, which had originally coexisted peacefully with the Sea Tribe, would also experience war.
However, this level of conflict did not affect Freya much.
After all, there were many differences among the Sea Tribes. From what Freya understood, the Sea Tribe near Daqier City consisted only of ordinary tribes and was not like the Sea Tribe alliance in Cloud City that possessed extraordinary Force Fields.
With her current strength, she wouldn't care about this matter at all.
At this moment, she was using a Charcoal Pencil to sketch a complex pattern on a piece of white paper. The overall shape of the pattern resembled a strange, elongated Cross Sword, surrounded by formulas and characters written in sections, marked with fine Arrows.
She was further perfecting her energy-based weapon. Although the basic Model had already been established and successfully released, its specific power still fell short of expectations.
Step-by-step experimentation and analysis were still needed to deduce the best balance point to achieve the most ideal level.
In Freya's mind, the completed weapon should possess physical attack effects while also incorporating the nature of sorcery, with its unleashed power at least comparable to an Intermediate Enchanted Item.
When fully unleashed, it should reach the level of a lower Magic Weapon and also have a certain degree of long-range attack capability.
Combining the compression method she obtained from the Black Forest with her own Force Field-type abilities, this improvement was not particularly difficult.
Life at sea was monotonous but not boring.
There were only occasional faint noises and sounds of something falling into the water, which slightly disturbed Freya's thoughts.
However, after warning Steve, this phenomenon disappeared.
Time passed quickly.
Seven hours later.
On the endless Blue Sea, a Passenger Ship was slowly making its way forward.
Inside the Passenger Ship's cabin, a pale-skinned Blonde Woman dressed in a Robe stepped out and made her way to the deck.
Freya raised her hand to shield her eyes from the glaring sunlight. For the past seven days, she had been confined to her room, working on improving her Model, without stepping outside even once, which had caused her originally healthy complexion to appear somewhat pale.
Now that her experiment had reached a temporary conclusion, it was the perfect time to take a stroll.
Since it was noon and the sun was blazing, there weren't many people on the deck; only two lookouts were on duty.
Freya glanced at the two drowsy crew members before walking over to the Gunwale.
The white waves crashed against the ship's hull, creating a swishing sound. In the air, a few seagulls occasionally called out as they followed the ship; aside from that, there was nothing particularly noteworthy.
Freya quietly gazed at the deep Azure Sea, lost in her thoughts.
Meanwhile, Steve, who had been hiding in the cabin to escape the heat, suddenly spotted Freya standing alone on the deck, looking out at the sea. He thought for a moment and took a tray with a glass of green juice out into the sunlight.
Steve's Leather Boots made a clattering sound against the deck, which caused Freya to frown slightly as she was deep in thought.
She turned around to glance at the drink in Steve's hand and spoke in a somewhat cold tone.
"Is there something you need?"
"Uh," not expecting Freya's attitude, Steve awkwardly held the tray and forced a smile. "Sister Freya, how do you feel about our service?"
"It's not bad," Freya nodded lightly.
Aside from being a bit too noisy earlier, in the following moments, Freya could see Steve's effort in both the food and the environment.
"That's good to hear." Seeing that Freya hadn't taken any juice, Steve picked it up and took a sip before continuing, "If you have any other requests, please feel free to let us know. We will do our best to accommodate you."
"Is that so?" Hearing Steve's words, Freya thought for a moment. "Then please compile a report on the major events that have happened in Byron Kingdom over the past few years and send it to me. I will pay you an additional reward afterward."
"No problem! Of course, no problem. It is my honor to serve you," Steve said with a bow.
"Well, if there's nothing else, I'll be heading back."
As Freya was about to return to the cabin for further experiments, suddenly, a crew member standing at the watchtower shouted down.
"Captain of the Shark of Evil! Two Black Ships have appeared ahead! What should we do?!"
"Black Ships?" Hearing the crew member's shout, Steve responded loudly. "Did you see whose flag it is?!"
"It seems to be Kaisa's Swordfish Pirate flag!"
"Signal the flags! We are the Lantes Passenger Ship! Let them pass!"
"Yes!!"
The loud exchange between the two prompted crew members to emerge from the cabin, their faces showing varying degrees of concern.
Freya turned around, narrowing her eyes slightly. Indeed, in her line of sight, two massive ships were approaching.
A black flag was flying above the ships, featuring a logo of a fish bone with an elongated snout.
The crew on the Watchtower quickly began signaling with flags, and the other side started waving their own.
After a while, the crew shouted down.
"Captain, it’s no use! They want us to stop for inspection!!"
"Inspection??" Steve's expression changed dramatically upon hearing this word.
An inspection by pirates could only mean one thing: robbery.
Although his ship had previously engaged in piracy, he clearly did not have enough manpower to face these two large vessels.
As he pondered whether to turn back or let them rob him, Freya lightly tapped on the Gunwale and suddenly spoke up.
"Steve, do you know the details about this pirate ship?"
"Ah?" Suddenly being asked by Freya, he was slightly taken aback, then replied, "I know a bit. A few years ago, Kaisa wasn't a pirate ship; it belonged to the warships of Daqier City. After being defeated, it was seized by the Sea Tribe, and then it seems a group of deserters from the Sea Tribe took it over, gradually turning it into a pirate ship."
"Oh?" Hearing this, Freya showed a curious expression. She looked at the two approaching Black Ships and said lightly, "Is that so? Just in time, I have an experiment to conduct, and I'm very interested in the long-lived species of the Sea Tribe. Captain Steve, could you stop the ship?"
Looking at Freya's interested gaze, Steve suddenly became excited.
"Sure! Everyone, stop the ship! Did you hear that?"
Not paying attention to Steve's sudden change in attitude, Freya felt the Passenger Ship gradually slowing down. She stepped onto the Gunwale and slightly extended her hand to pull.
'Rip!'
With a sound like a storm tearing through, an Azure Wind suddenly appeared in her hand and quickly formed into the shape of a Cross Sword.
"Testing long-range attack, distance confirmed!"
As if whispering lightly, Freya looked at the two Black Ships that were already within attack range and swung her Cross Sword fiercely.
'Whoosh!'
The Cross Sword seemed to be a bit short, immediately followed by a translucent Azure Wind Flow that surged towards one of the Black Ships she had targeted.
"Crack!"
It was as if a violent gale had swept through, causing the sails of the Black Ships to snap and crash heavily onto the deck below.
Freya appeared dissatisfied as she glanced at the broken piece of the Cross Sword in her hand.
In her earlier conception, it should have manifested directly in a cutting form, rather than purely as an energy shape.
"The distance is a bit far; it seems the energy density is too low. How about this?"
After a brief contemplation, she swung the Cross Sword once more.
"Swish!"
In an instant, the entire Cross Sword in Freya's hand vanished.
Silently, the distant ship began to slide apart at its bow, revealing its hull, which then slowly sank into the sea.
The nearby, slightly larger Black Ship abruptly halted and then frantically turned around.
The crew behind Freya, including Steve, looked at her with expressions of astonishment as if they were gazing at a monster.
Ignoring their attitudes, Freya watched the pirate ship desperately trying to escape, her brow slightly furrowed as she began to softly chant long spells.
Two white runes appeared in her palm with a hiss.
In an invisible manner, a massive white hand formed from countless water vapor slowly emerged above the ship.
Freya gently opened her hand, and as she reached the end of her incantation, she suddenly slammed it down towards the Black Ships.
With a loud thud!
A tremendous sound echoed as the water level of the Black Ships suddenly dropped, splashing up large amounts of white foam, nearly reaching the Gunwale. Countless white water vapor spread out along the sides of the ship, bringing it to a complete stop.
Satisfied with the incapacitated pirate ship, Freya turned to Steve, who was still in a daze.
"Later, bring some of the Sea Tribe from that ship to my room."
After he subconsciously nodded, Freya circled around him and returned to her room.
With a bang, she closed the door.
Freya walked to her desk and looked at the large amount of data on it, lightly tapping her fingers on the surface.
"With a single strike, I split an ordinary ship that hadn't been enhanced by magic in half. This might be the most powerful single-target spell in Liquefaction Level. Truly impressive, just as expected from the compression technique of the Black Forest."
The reason Freya was able to create such a shocking scene, aside from her unique brain control over mental power, was the extreme energy compression technique of the Black Forest.
Otherwise, she would not have been able to split the ship from such a distance; at most, she could only create a violent gust of wind to capsize an ordinary vessel, just like the Mist of White Hands did later.
This also shows that for ordinary ships, if they were enhanced by witchcraft, Freya would be unable to do anything.
However, it can be seen from this that the Liquid Wizard is powerful beyond the realm of ordinary people.
Thinking about the results of this experiment, she made further improvements.
About half an hour later, there was a knock on the door.
‘Knock knock knock.’
“Lady Freya, the person you instructed has brought something for you,” Steve's voice came from outside.
“Oh? So soon? Come in,” Freya said lightly as she raised her head and snapped her fingers, causing the door to open automatically.
As the door opened, Steve and another crew member entered, carrying a peculiar Sea Tribe individual with blue skin.
“Just put it over there,” she indicated a clear space in the room.
"Alright." After Steve and the other person threw the Sea Tribe onto the ground, they quickly stood up and looked at Freya with fearful expressions.
"Milady, we are leaving now."
Without a word, Freya waved her hand.
The two hurriedly exited Freya's room and closed the door behind them.
Although Steve had already confirmed her identity, seeing Freya effortlessly destroy two ships filled him with a deep-seated fear, and the entire ship felt a strong sense of dread towards Freya's terrifying presence.
Of course, this change had little to do with Freya herself.
She walked directly over to the fallen Sea Tribe.
This Sea Tribe was a strong male, with no shirt on his upper body and only wearing black leather shorts on his lower half. His blue-gray skin was covered in small raised bumps.
His ears resembled fish fins, and his gill-like features were located not on his cheeks but between his neck.
