Chapter Two Hundred Seventy-Two:
Possession-Type Sorcery mostly belongs to the Necromancy Department.
The targets for a wizard's possession are extremely selective; they must either be ordinary beings with weak wills or souls, or they must be the type that consents to the possession.
The Cavalry before him clearly falls into the latter category.
As the aura of the Cavalry gradually changed, a gray mark slowly appeared on his forehead, and his red armor began to transform into black, with faint blue Black Smoke emanating from him.
"Hello, young wizard from Cloud City. I am the master of Hanseter; you can call me Glenor."
With a hoarse voice, he slowly opened his eyes, which were completely white, revealing a heavy sense of decay and coldness.
Freya noticed that the Cavalry's aura had directly ascended to the level of a Crystalized Wizard after the possession. As for his true strength, Freya could not guess, but she was certain it was definitely not at the first level.
However, what puzzled Freya even more was that this person seemed to know her background directly.
Freya furrowed her brows slightly but still respectfully inquired.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, esteemed Lord Glenor. I am Freya Green. May I ask how you knew I was from Cloud City?"
"Ah, that's quite simple," Glenor, possessing the Horseback, smiled and explained to her.
"Although the aura of Cloud City filled with Positive Energy has been some time ago, I still remember it. Moreover, your Meditation Method clearly bears the characteristics of Winds of Oblivion; these violent Wind Energy Particles are the best hallmark of the Crimson Eagle."
Hearing Glenor's clear explanation, Freya asked with slight confusion.
"So you were once a wizard from Cloud City as well?"
If it's the same place, then Freya might be able to take advantage of this connection.
"No." He shook his head, his tone somewhat nostalgic. "I used to be a Wandering Wizard, and I spent some time in Cloud City when I was young. A few interesting things happened there, so the memories are vivid."
"Oh, that must be an honor for Cloud City," Freya said with a hint of flattery.
"Well, my time here is limited, so let's get to the point," Glenor said softly.
"Hanseter has already briefed me on the general situation. What price do you wish to pay for this information? You should know that it's the location of an ancient ruin, which holds immeasurable value for a Wizard Organization."
Hearing Glenor shift back to the main topic, Freya thought for a moment before responding.
"I'm not seeking this as part of an organization; rather, I wish to find some materials or items from the ruins for personal reasons. My price is that as long as I am alive, I will protect your Bloodline. How does that sound?"
"Protect my Bloodline?" Glenor stroked his chin and pondered for a moment. "That's not a bad proposal. However, given your current life potential, you could probably only protect my descendants for a few hundred years at most, and during that time, there's no guarantee when you might fall. If I were to disclose this information to a powerful Wizard Organization, I could ensure that my Bloodline would not fade due to irresistible forces for a thousand years. Do you think your few hundred years is fair to me?"
"Uh..."
Freya hadn't expected him to respond this way. After careful consideration, she realized it was indeed an inadequate offer.
Even from her perspective, this price might be enough to obtain information about the ruins, but it likely wasn't significant enough for Glenor.
After a pause, she continued.
"Then, aside from the previous condition, if any of your descendants possess wizardly gifts, I will do my utmost to help them become wizards in pursuit of your legacy. Would that be acceptable?"
In Freya's impression, wizards like Glenor, whose lifespans were nearing their end, cared deeply about the continuation and inheritance of their Bloodline. Even for a Wizard Organization, they would ensure their safety but wouldn't waste many resources on his descendants.
But what surprised Freya was that Glenor simply waved his hand and smiled.
"Ha ha, forget it. There's no need to set your sights on my Bloodline anymore. Although my lifespan is nearing its end, I still have fifty years left. During this time, I can completely establish a force to protect the continuation of my Bloodline. Furthermore, if necessary, I can transform one of my descendants to pass on my knowledge in another way. You know, the Necromancy Department specializes in that."
Freya certainly understood what Glenor meant by transformation; it involved both soul and body. If successful, the result would belong to another species, not humanity.
From this, Freya could already guess that this powerful Necromancer cared about his Bloodline but did not place particular importance on it.
However, he and Freya had already wasted so much time; clearly, they were not here for idle chatter.
After a pause, Freya cautiously took the initiative to ask, "So what is your suggestion? Or have you already decided what you want me to give in return?"
"You are very clever and straightforward, Wizard Freya," Glenor said with a slight nod as he leaned forward. "That's right; I have a suggestion, but whether you agree or not depends on you, doesn't it?"
As he leaned in, Freya, standing below him, could clearly feel a chilling aura emanating from him; the blue-black mist surrounding him was clearly not just for show.
Feeling the oppressive and powerful presence, Freya took a step back to maintain a safe distance before continuing, "Please go ahead."
Ignoring Freya's cautious movement, Glenor continued directly. "Actually, you only need to help me with one thing. I once dropped something during a battle in that ruin—something very ordinary. It was a black staff that looks no different from an ordinary staff. If you agree to enter that ruin and bring it back for me, I will give you something unexpected. What do you think?"
"Oh?"
Hearing Glenor's tone, Freya frowned.
This request was clearly too disproportionate compared to the previous price; just bringing back one item could yield such important information.
Or this ordinary cane from his mouth was a precious item to him.
Seeing Freya lost in thought, Glenor spoke impatiently.
"My time is running out. How are you considering it?"
"Alright! I agree to your request." Freya nodded, pausing before continuing. "However, I need to know the information about the ruins in advance. After all, helping me is helping you, isn't it?"
"Of course, that's not a problem. I can give it to you now." Glenor smiled slightly and then extended a finger, giving it a gentle flick.
'Puff!'
A silver Light Sphere instantly struck Freya's forehead.
Freya felt a strong force coming from her forehead, causing her to involuntarily take two steps back. Immediately after, a stream of unusual information rapidly flooded into her mind, playing like scenes from a movie.
Shaking her head, Freya looked at these inexplicable fragments with some astonishment, genuinely shocked inside, even more so than the shock of the force penetrating her own Force Field.
"Is this..."
"That's right. This is my memory from the ruins. If you find no issue with it, let's sign the agreement." Glenor said calmly, as if detaching memories from his mind was merely casual.
But Freya understood that this technique had already touched upon deep levels of the soul stage. The level of the wizard before her...
She never expected that searching for the Ice Blue Earrings would involve such a massive undertaking.
Freya revealed a wry smile.
"Alright, Lord Glenor."
"Mm."
Receiving Freya's response, he gently nodded, raised his hands slightly, and murmured a spell.
With a 'whoosh,' a faint blue flame suddenly appeared between his hands, and then two parchment scrolls with black backgrounds and white text floated into the air.
Glenor grabbed the two scrolls, bit his finger to draw blood, and began to write on the pages of the scrolls.
Soon, he tossed one of the simple agreements into Freya's hands.
As her gaze swept over the rather simplistic agreement, finding no hidden traps within the text, Freya felt a sigh of relief in her heart. She then signed her name with her blood.
With another 'whoosh,' the agreement transformed into a ball of blue fire and vanished into thin air.
Freya felt as if something had been added to her forehead, but upon careful touch, she found nothing there.
After the agreement on Glenor's side also turned into blue fire and disappeared, the black-blue mist around him began to appear somewhat ethereal.
"Alright, the agreement has been signed. I look forward to you bringing me what I asked for. Until we meet again."
He took a deep look at Freya's appearance. Before she could speak, the aura around Horseback suddenly shrank back, returning to its original Hanseter form.
Feeling Glenor's presence completely vanish, Freya glanced at the Centaur Warrior, who had become unusually dazed after being possessed, and revealed a bitter smile.
"I originally intended to search for some information in the ruins that could help me break through my limitations. I didn't expect it to turn into a semi-coercive situation. Truly..."
Although Glenor's attitude had been subtle, Freya had already seen through his intentions.
Exchanging information that could move even top Wizard Organizations for such a low price was clearly suspicious to anyone.
However, with Freya's current strength, resistance was simply not an option.
Although the goal was achieved, Freya still felt a sense of frustration.
'But the agreement doesn't last long; if it's fifty years, I could delay it a bit...'
Freya instinctively narrowed her eyes.
Of course, this was just a fleeting thought. The ancient Glenor would surely have measures in place to prevent Freya from exploiting any loopholes.
"It's still a matter of strength disparity," she murmured softly.
Fortunately, although Glenor was a Necromancer, he seemed to belong to the lawful type. While there were elements of coercion involved, he still adhered to certain rules.
If it had been another Necromancer, she might have been directly cursed.
Freya stood still, quietly browsing through the memories that Glenor had transmitted to her.
Fifteen minutes later, the dazed Hanseter suddenly snapped back to reality.
"Ugh..."
The moment he regained consciousness, he clasped his head with both hands and gritted his teeth as waves of pain surged through him.
Freya glanced at his pained expression and shook her head helplessly.
The possession spell left significant aftereffects on the host; this damage was at the soul level and was far more severe than physical pain.
For those with weak wills, such pain could even drive them to madness.
After a long while, Hanseter finally released the head he was holding. At that moment, his entire body was drenched in hot sweat, as if he had just come out of water, and his eyes were bloodshot, his face twisted, with Azure veins crawling across his forehead.
"I'm sorry for startling you, my lord." He slightly lowered his head and continued, "You have already informed me of your needs. Please let me know what supplies you require, and I will do my best to fulfill them."
"Alright, thank you." Freya nodded.
She felt a sense of admiration for the Centaur Warrior, who could endure the pain of his soul for just fifteen minutes. Such terrifying willpower would not be ordinary even if he did not follow a wizard and instead trained alone.
"I'll give you the list later. Please provide me with a room; I need to prepare some things."
"Of course." Hanseter replied respectfully.
Ten minutes later.
Led by a young girl dressed as a maid, Freya arrived at a spacious and luxurious room.
Just after she stepped into the room, two burly men entered carrying a huge Black Wooden Box.
At Freya's gesture, the two placed the wooden box on the floor of the room and then bowed and exited.
Freya lightly snapped her fingers, and the box opened to reveal various miscellaneous items inside.
There were several Test Tubes filled with red liquid, a form-fitting Red Lady Armor, several Azure Orchid Daggers, various herbs, and biological limbs.
Glancing at the contents inside, Freya took out one Test Tube, removed the stopper, and gently sniffed it.
A faint floral fragrance immediately wafted into her nose.
"This is a Fire Element resistance potion with at least 90 quality. It seems to have been prepared no more than two years ago. Not bad."
Freya nodded slightly.
All the items in this box, to some extent, had a purpose, which was Fire Elemental Particle Resistance.
In Glenor's memory, the Saharul Ruins were not in an ordinary place but in a volcanic area, and that volcano was an Active Volcano, likely to erupt with a large amount of lava at any moment.
At first, Glenor had stumbled upon the entrance to that ruin. After searching for some items, he accidentally triggered a mechanism that released a strange creature.
That creature was incredibly bizarre; just touching it caused Glenor to suffer severe Soul Damage, forcing him to retreat.
Moreover, he later discovered that no matter how much he meditated, his mental power showed no improvement. Even the Potion Glyph Array designed to enhance mental power was ineffective.
Additionally, the stagnation of his mental power led to rapid physical aging.
Although it was still slow by normal human standards, for someone of his level, this rate of aging could already be considered fatal.
