Chapter 294:
Inside the cabin of the Airship.
Freya sat quietly at the table, carefully reading the brown book in front of her.
As time passed, the light outside gradually dimmed, casting a shadow over the room.
About two hours later, she took out a black seed and gently pressed it against the table.
With a soft sound, a flash of green light appeared, and a Serpent Sunflower was rapidly cultivated.
The orange-yellow flower, resembling a sunflower, emitted a soft glow that illuminated the Secret Art on the table.
After another two hours, Freya tapped her fingers on the table, then closed the book and gently rubbed her temples with her eyes closed.
With her extraordinary learning ability, she managed to analyze this Secret Art in just four hours and established a rough Model in her mind.
"It truly is improved from ancient witchcraft."
With Freya's perspective after undergoing Ancient Inheritance, she could clearly see that this concealed Secret Art contained numerous reductions and additions.
This was to adapt to the mental power of Modern Wizards rather than the Bloodline Power of Ancient Wizards.
However, while these reductions and additions allowed Modern Wizards to use it, they also made it exceptionally obscure and difficult to understand.
A wizard without any ancient knowledge foundation would never be able to understand the things involved.
That is why Kage evaluated it as relatively difficult to learn.
Of course, this posed little problem for Freya.
She herself has the foundation of Ancient Wizard Heritage. Although what she has encountered so far is only the Bloodline Sorcery of the King Cobra from her inheritance.
However, this does not hinder her from using it to understand other ancient sorceries.
After resting for five minutes, Freya opened her eyes, and the Azure Symbol Array in her eyes glowed faintly and began to rotate slowly.
She extended her finger and started to draw in the air. The azure threads flashed quickly at her fingertips, forming translucent runes one after another.
Once these runes were drawn, they were arranged to one side, forming a special shape.
General concealment sorceries are similar to compression methods, aiming to minimize one's energy aura or mental fluctuations into something stationary. However, this Secret Art directly accumulates special runes to form a shield made of mental power that envelops the Mental Crystal, isolating all information. Once formed, as long as the shield is not broken or the mental energy does not dry up, this concealment function will remain effective.
It is akin to a passive sorcery that remains constant on oneself.
However, the crafting of this shield requires a large amount of Basic Knowledge and rune knowledge, along with meticulous energy manipulation to complete.
Freya estimates that this modified ancient sorcery likely belonged to some kind of Ancient Beasts' Bloodline endowment, specifically used for hiding during hunts.
Then it was transformed into Bloodline Sorcery through special methods by Ancient Wizards, allowing it to be passed down to this day.
As time passed, at one point,
Freya continued to draw runes with a slightly pale face.
In front of her, a large number of translucent runes accumulated in the air, forming an Azure Sphere, with the flowing runes pulsating like blood. It resembled a Heart.
And this Heart was gradually being completed by her.
Half an hour later.
Freya's face turned pale as she withdrew her hands and lightly snapped her fingers.
The complete Azure Heart that was floating in mid-air appeared before her, pulsing rhythmically.
Looking at her finished creation, Freya revealed a satisfied expression.
"It seems that the minimum level learned from this Secret Art is Crystallization Level. With my current total mental power, I still showed signs of exhaustion. No wonder so few people manage to learn it."
She pondered for a moment, then reached out and directly grasped the Heart, pressing it against her chest.
'Puff'
It felt as if a ball of Azure Flame entered her body. Freya sensed a special energy drilling toward her brain and chest, quickly enveloping them.
The Azure Symbol Array in her eyes also became shrouded in a faint mist.
After a long while, she let out a gentle sigh.
Feeling the mental fluctuations emanating from her body, Freya's face showed a hint of joy.
"Not bad. With this Secret Art, unless one is focused on my Fourth-Level Wizard status, they probably wouldn't be able to discern my current state."
Having spent six or seven hours completing this Secret Art, the circular window in the cabin was now shrouded in darkness.
Freya glanced at the Crystal Clock hanging on the wall and realized it was already one in the morning.
She had just expended most of her mental energy and felt little fatigue.
After lowering her presence to Liquefaction Level, she circled around the table and walked toward the door.
With a creak, she opened the door, and a wave of cold night air rushed in.
It was fine inside the cabin with its constant temperature Rune Array, but stepping outside felt a bit chilly.
She wrapped her Robe tighter around herself as she left the room and stepped onto the deck.
Outside, wisps of white clouds floated past the Airship, and the dark sky was dotted with twinkling Stardust like a galaxy, creating a beautiful scene.
Freya walked to the Gunwale, feeling the cold night breeze as her golden hair danced in the night sky.
She quietly enjoyed this rare moment of tranquility.
After a long while, she withdrew her gaze from the distance and pulled out a castle-shaped badge from her waist pouch.
The badge was only the size of a fingernail and felt no different from an ordinary piece of metal, making it quite inconspicuous.
However, Freya knew this was merely its hidden function.
After playing with it for a while, she extended a tendril of mental energy to connect with it.
Ding.
A clear voice rang directly in her mind, followed by a hoarse female voice.
"Please provide the personal passphrase."
"Oh, there are quite a few security measures?"
Hearing that message in her mind, Freya smiled slightly and used her mental power to compose a message and transmit it.
It was her identification number as an external personnel.
'Ding.'
"Passphrase correct."
As the voice faded away, a vast expanse of blue Flowing Light flashed in Freya's eyes, and a multitude of information automatically appeared in her mind.
Frowning slightly, feeling the flow of information, she suddenly stopped. Then she instinctively looked around.
After realizing there was no one in sight, blue Flowing Light flashed in her eyes again.
After a while, the Flowing Light gradually calmed down.
In Freya's vision, various mission information appeared.
Some of these mission details were blue, some were gray, and they varied widely.
There were common hunting missions, team explorations, rune setups, Cursed Items crafting, material collection, and so on.
Freya even saw some tasks related to inquiries, with rewards varying in value.
After a brief browse, she dismissed the tasks from other regions and actively sought out missions related to Cloud City.
The missions in Cloud City appeared to be relatively peaceful. Aside from a few initial hunting tasks, most of them focused on resource collection or team exploration.
There were also requests for the Advanced Meditation Method or high-level knowledge and information-based tasks that posed no danger.
However, even these non-dangerous missions were not so easily obtained.
After all, both the Advanced Meditation Method and knowledge were highly valued by wizards, and there would certainly be many strong restrictions in place.
For example, Freya's Winds of Oblivion; although she had already acquired the Meditation Method, according to the agreement she signed previously, it was impossible for her to pass it on to another person for study.
If she were to do such a thing, it would be tantamount to betraying Crimson Eagle. The soul bound to the headquarters would directly dissipate, forming a permanent mark that would lead to her being hunted down by Crimson Eagle forever.
To bypass the agreement for trading, one would need to possess strength that could disregard the entire Wizard Organization of Crimson Eagle. At that point, the fate of that soul would become irrelevant.
After briefly reviewing the tasks available in Cloud City, Freya lightly tapped on one of the simpler missions.
"Ding."
The originally blue mission instantly turned gray and displayed specific task details and rewards.
"Create a Warhammer-type Intermediate Enchanted Item. Materials are self-supplied, with a time limit of fifty years. Reward: four Magic Crystal Cards, one Beck's Eye, and five task points."
"Beck's Eye is said to be the eye of an Ancient Beast or Storm Giant after its death. Besides containing a small amount of Bloodline Power, it is also a good material for modifying creatures, which is perfect for my needs."
Having made her decision, she tapped on that mission again.
After confirming, a blue Rhinoceros-shaped mark automatically flew into her palm from the end of the mission; this was the contact method for the client.
Looking at the mark, Freya clenched her fist, and the mark immediately transformed into a cluster of blue light spots that scattered in the air.
After accepting this task, she browsed through the tasks she needed or those that were relatively simple.
Suddenly, she caught sight of one of the tasks and paused slightly, then revealed a cold smile.
"I didn't expect someone to actually have their eyes on the Crimson Eagle?"
This task was none other than one to obtain the fourth layer of the Crimson Eagle's Meditation Method.
The time limit was one hundred years, and the rewards included a plethora of valuable resources and items. Even Freya couldn't help but be taken aback by the rewards.
However, she only glanced at it before immediately closing it.
To obtain the Meditation Method without joining the Crimson Eagle, especially the top-tier Meditation Method, was basically an impossible task.
After accepting two more simple tasks, Freya withdrew her mental energy from the badge.
She belonged to the Third Rank as an external personnel. Aside from having to accept three tasks each year, there were no other restrictions on her.
The management of external personnel by the Giant Whale was exceptionally lenient, with basically only task constraints.
Although Freya did not fully understand the true nature of the Toy Room, it did not hinder her from utilizing it.
Whether it was the rich rewards behind the tasks or what she could obtain after accumulating points, these were all things she needed.
After staying at Gunwale for a while longer, she returned to her room to conduct her routine meditation in order to quickly reach the normal total mental energy of a Crystalized Wizard.
In the high sky above the crimson plains, a black, shuttle-shaped airship slowly flew away, soon disappearing into the thick clouds.
A blonde woman dressed in a white robe walked quickly with her back to the airship.
Although she was walking, a faint azure trail followed behind her, and the rushing hurricane brushed against the edges of her clothing, producing a fluttering sound.
Freya was currently on the western side of the Crimson Plain, not far from the Crimson Eagle Headquarters.
Though this area was sparsely populated, she could reach it in about four hours at her speed.
Suddenly, a faint sound came from her fingertips.
This made the rapidly advancing Freya stop in her tracks.
She raised her hand and looked at her finger, where a mermaid-shaped mark was emitting a soft blue light.
"Is it Kathy's message?"
After a pause, she raised her finger to her ear, and soon, Kathy's familiar voice came from the mark.
"Freya, in ten days I will be going to my hometown with a few friends. If you return within this time..."
Then came the second message.
"Freya, if you hear this message, we have been summoned by Sky City and are now at the front lines of Cloudsea City. The Rune Department has no other wizards left besides you and Nick."
"Cloudsea City?" Upon hearing this term, Freya frowned.
This city is Cloud City, located on the edge of the sea, a place where contradictions gather. Since Sky City has borrowed the wizards of Crimson Eagle, the Oceanic Tribe has once again launched a war.
After thinking for a moment, she opened the third message, which was the most recent one.
"We have returned to Crimson Eagle. The temporary head of the Rune Department, Fira, died in the line of duty due to a Sea Tribe raid. The funeral is scheduled for July 30th. Please inform everyone in the Rune Department."
"Fira?"
Hearing this message, Freya was taken aback, seemingly unable to believe it.
The Sea Tribe has always had significant conflicts with Cloud City; this is not just a matter of race but involves various complex interests.
However, each time there was a war between them, it was merely to deter each other, but unexpectedly, this time the Sea Tribe actually went through with it.
It should be noted that in Freya's impression, Fira had already reached the peak of Crystallization Level, just one step away from becoming a Second-Level Wizard.
Even his teacher, Vice Minister Melong Lawrence of the Rune Department, intended to pass on the position of Deputy Director to him.
Unexpectedly,
Although Fira and Freya had not known each other for long, her mood felt heavy at that moment.
"July 30th was yesterday; I've already missed it."
After calming herself down and pausing for a moment, she raised her finger to her lips and said lightly.
"I understand. I will head over immediately."
With that, Freya lowered her arm and looked up at the vast crimson plain, where the windmill on the White Tower was slowly turning.
A refreshing breeze brushed against her golden hair.
After standing in place for a while, she quickly moved forward again.
...
Five hours later.
In a clearing not far from the Crimson Eagle Headquarters.
Freya and Kathy slowly approached a Black Crystal Tombstone in the center of the clearing. (To be continued)
