Chapter 302:
After expelling the snow pillar, the Silver Wolf slowly dissipated, leaving behind a disordered street.
The biting cold wind blowing from afar made Freya frown.
"I smell the scent of Bloodline. It seems this sorcery is not entirely an illusion; there is something else."
She inherited the legacy of King Cobra. Although she did not possess the Royal Serpent Bloodline, her own lineage was gradually transforming due to this inheritance.
The most prominent aspect was her sensitivity to Bloodline Aura.
This was the keen perception of King Cobra towards its prey.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she closed the wooden window and turned to leave.
The wizards of the Shadow Realm, relying on the strength of Klyent and his companions, had nearly resolved everything.
This included the Wizard Organization in Medea City, which had witnessed the Silver Wolf demonstrating a power almost equivalent to that of a Dawn Wizard.
If they wished to intervene, they would need to weigh their own capabilities.
...
Second.
In a forest located in the western part of Medea City, Freya was quietly flipping through a green book while lying in a carriage.
Sunlight filtered through the dense leaves, casting dappled patterns on the carriage, creating a sense of tranquility and peace.
The wind gently stirred the grass beneath the carriage, carrying a faint scent of fresh grass.
After about half an hour, Freya suddenly snapped the book shut with a sound and lifted her gaze towards the road not far away.
There, another Black Carriage was slowly approaching.
The driver of the carriage was a beautiful woman dressed in a black dress, her soft black hair cascading down her back. The corners of her mouth were slightly upturned, as if she bore a subtle smile.
Most notably, the woman's hands were adorned with black gloves, embedded with small silver-white particles that looked very luxurious.
Upon seeing the woman, Freya expressionlessly snapped her fingers lightly.
The well-rested Black Stallion pulled the carriage slowly out of the forest.
Soon, the two carriages converged on the road.
After nodding at Shirley, Freya jumped down from her carriage and entered Shirley's carriage.
Inside were Klyent, Senterman, and Udi sitting together.
Senterman was resting with his eyes closed, while Udi and Klyent were engaged in something. In the middle of them was a delicate round table cluttered with various items.
As soon as Freya entered the vehicle, she paused slightly, glancing at the seemingly sleeping Senterman.
Although it was concealed, she still caught a faint smell of blood, as if last night's operation had not gone entirely smoothly.
When Klyent saw Freya come in, he gestured for her to sit down and handed her a document.
"This is intelligence extracted from the wizard over there. It contains some information about the Hester organization and a few ancient rune traps. See if you can decipher them."
"Rune traps?" Freya looked down at the document.
It contained information about the ancient Wizard Organization known as Hester, along with several incomplete and peculiar Rune Arrays.
Looking at the claw-like runes on the Rune Array, Freya furrowed her brow, recalling various materials she had reviewed. She extended her hand and slowly pointed to the leftmost Rune Array.
"If I remember correctly, this should be the Thunder Roar Array. This type of Rune Array has only one function: to summon a creature called the Thunder Mouse using sound waves."
"What is a Thunder Mouse?" Upon hearing this creature's name, both Klyent and Udi slightly narrowed their eyes, as if they had encountered this creature before.
"Truly worthy of the Hester ruins."
Freya knew that this creature, which currently only existed in books, was called the Thunder Mouse, but its size was comparable to that of an elephant. It inherently possessed a fifty percent elemental embodiment, and even the weakest Thunder Mouse had the strength of a Third-Rank Wizard. Moreover, its elemental nature made it extremely difficult to kill.
If encountered, one would either have to fight fiercely or choose to flee.
Noticing the subtle change in expressions on their faces, Freya paused before continuing.
"Actually, cracking this Rune Array is quite simple. You just need to interfere with it using sound wave magic of different frequencies. The only problem is that the size of this Rune Array has always been very large, making it difficult to locate."
"This isn't the first time we've encountered this; I certainly know that," Klyent said with a serious expression. "However, if it's you, you should be able to find it, right?"
"Probably, but I'm not sure," Freya replied lightly.
"That's fine, as long as we know in advance," Udi said with a smile to comfort Klyent. "The Thunder Mouse, without its inherent abilities, is just a low-intelligence beast. We've only suffered from its powers in our previous encounters. Besides the Thunder Mouse, I think there are other more dangerous traps as well."
"That's true," Klyent nodded. "This time I brought an elite team of fifty. We sustained fifteen injuries yesterday. If nothing unexpected happens, we'll head straight to the library area to retrieve the ancient materials first before anything else."
"No problem, I'll follow your lead," Udi said gently while fiddling with a golden hollow Sphere in his hand.
"Also, regarding the energy pool..."
Listening to their conversation, Freya leaned back against the soft cushion and casually picked up the materials obtained from the Shadow Realm wizard.
It seemed they didn't have much information—only five simple sheets.
Most of them detailed the nature of the Hester Wizard Organization and items that had been produced there, while a portion described various dangerous traps.
Flipping to the last page, Freya even saw a simple map of the ruins.
However, after just a glance, she disregarded it.
This map was merely a rough outline of the main ruins, with many areas left blank; it could only serve as a reference and shouldn't be taken seriously.
After looking at the materials for a while, she set them down and closed her eyes, pretending to meditate while actually analyzing Second-Level Sorcery.
The location of the ruins is still three or four miles away from Medea City, and any increase in strength during this time is beneficial.
It is unclear how much time has passed.
The carriage, which had been moving steadily, suddenly came to a halt. The few people with their eyes closed immediately opened them.
Shirley's voice soon came from outside the carriage.
"Sir, it seems there are wizards fighting ahead, all at about the first-tier level. What should we do?"
"What should we do? We are already in the Kedot Region." Klyent seemed to be in a bad mood; he frowned and said, "Just drive straight through. If anyone comes over, just kill them."
"Understood, sir," Shirley replied respectfully.
The carriage then set off again, and the others continued to meditate with their eyes closed.
However, Freya sniffed and lifted the curtain of the carriage.
Through the window, she could clearly see strong bursts of light and black mist rising not far down the road.
Intense energy fluctuations were continuously emanating from that direction.
After thinking for a moment, she jumped out of the carriage and went to the driver's seat.
Shirley, who had been leisurely driving the carriage, was somewhat surprised to see Freya. She asked in confusion, "Why did you come out?"
Hearing the question, Freya smiled.
"It's nothing, my meditation phase has ended. Just came out to get some fresh air."
"Oh." Shirley nodded and fell silent.
Soon, the two carriages they were driving approached the battlefield, stopping not far from the road in an open area.
The ground was covered with black ashes and fallen wizards.
There were about ten wizards on each side, who had been engaged in a fierce battle. However, as the two carriages passed by, both teams of wizards changed their expressions slightly and stopped in unison, quietly waiting for the carriages to leave.
The powerful mental fluctuations surrounding the two carriages conveyed only one message: do not provoke us, or you will all die.
Shirley, sitting in the driver's seat, didn't even glance at these low-level individuals and simply swept past them.
Freya, however, glanced at a young wizard dressed in a Red Robe among them.
In his hand was a red crescent-shaped ring that was glowing faintly, as if he had just finished casting a spell.
Noticing where Freya was looking, Shirley turned to that wizard and asked,
"What? Do you want that thing?"
Upon hearing Shirley's question, Freya nodded decisively.
"Yes, that item might be helpful for our Ruins Exploration."
"Is that so?" Shirley, aware of Freya's extensive knowledge, pondered for a moment. "I understand."
She then reached to her waist and pulled out a green seed, gently flicking it towards the Red-Robed Wizard.
'Bang!'
As the seed flew out, it immediately created ripples, and with a whoosh, a massive green Rhinoceros leaped into existence out of thin air.
The weight of the creature caused the ground to tremble with a deep rumble.
As soon as the Rhinoceros appeared, it pointed its gleaming black horn directly at the wizard, and a circle of black mist quickly began to coalesce around it, seemingly ready to unleash something at any moment.
The wizard, facing the Rhinoceros's horn, turned pale as intense energy waves enveloped him, forming a thick layer of Force Field around his defenses.
However, to Shirley, this Force Field was merely a thicker layer of paper.
At that moment, Shirley exuded an extremely dangerous aura; her cold expression fixed on the ring in the wizard's hand.
"Throw what you're wearing over here."
Upon hearing Shirley's words, the wizard's pale face showed a hint of hesitation.
"But my lord, this is my family heirloom; I can use it..."
Before he could finish his sentence, suddenly, the black horn of the Rhinoceros pierced through his chest. A large spurt of blood mixed with thick Black Light erupted from his back, splattering onto the wizard behind him.
Shirley snorted coldly and lightly snapped her fingers.
The enormous Black Rhinoceros suddenly tossed its head, and the body flew out, while at the same time, the ring in his hand was flung out and quickly caught by a shadow.
In the blink of an eye, the shadow flew to Shirley's shoulder. At that moment, Freya saw that it was a Black Bird with its tail crossed like a swallow, its elongated bird eyes shining with a human-like glow as it looked at Freya.
After doing all this, Shirley didn't even glance at the group of wizards with unusually grim faces and continued to drive the carriage forward.
Once the carriage disappeared at the end of the road, the massive Black Rhinoceros leaped and bizarrely vanished.
"Here you go."
Gently stroking the bird's head, Shirley took the ring off the Black Bird's Claws and casually tossed it to Freya.
Freya received the ring and rubbed her fingers over the Moon Crystal on it. Then she took out a Test Tube filled with Green Liquid from her waist.
After opening the stopper, she dripped two drops of liquid onto it.
With a slight hissing sound, the entire ring slowly melted away, eventually condensing into a Red Crystal that emitted a unique energy aura.
Feeling the aura within, Freya displayed a satisfied expression.
"Indeed, it's Moonquake Stone."
"This is Moonquake Stone?" Shirley glanced at the tiny crystal that was about the size of a grain of rice. "The kind of mineral that has a special sensitivity to energy auras?"
"That's right," Freya nodded, putting away the crystal. "With this, we should be able to anticipate various traps inside the ruins."
"Oh."
Watching Freya retract the crystal, she remained silent and turned her attention back to driving the carriage.
Meanwhile, Freya's gaze fell upon the Black Bird perched on her shoulder.
Through the unique Bloodline sensing of the King Cobra, she could clearly feel that the Bloodline Aura condensed within this Black Bird was nearly equivalent to that of a First-Level Crystallized Wizard.
It was even stronger than the Black Rhinoceros that Shirley had released earlier, which piqued Freya's curiosity.
Shirley the Witch was a capable subordinate of Klyent, one of the few wizards proficient in biological magic, with rich experience in archaeological exploration. Her own strength was at the intermediate level of a Second-Level Wizard.
'Since she is Klyent's subordinate, I wonder if she also possesses barbarian bloodlines.'
As Freya speculated aimlessly, the Black Bird on Shirley's shoulder seemed to sense the green light hidden in her pupils and became agitated. Its black feathers fluffed up slightly, and its crossed tail quivered gently as if it were about to take flight at any moment.
"Don't look at Cori like that; otherwise, it will get nervous."
Without turning her head, Shirley gently stroked the bird's head and spoke.
"Cori?" Freya raised an eyebrow as she watched the Black Bird gradually calm down under Shirley's touch. "Is that the name of this Cross Black Swallow?"
"Yes," Shirley nodded.
"An ordinary Cross Black Swallow is merely an Alien Creature equivalent to a Third-Rank Apprentice. I didn't expect you to cultivate it to this extent; it seems you've used quite a bit of material," Freya remarked, focusing on a hint of golden trace at the tip of the Black Swallow's tail.
That golden trace was clearly not a characteristic of a Cross Black Swallow.
"Almost." Seemingly interested in Freya's words, Shirley glanced at her and asked, "What about you? Do you also have a background in biology?"
Hearing Shirley's question, Freya smiled and nodded, her expression sincere.
"Yes, I chose biology during my apprenticeship, but later I specialized in Wind Element due to my higher affinity for Positive Energy."
She continued without changing her expression.
"Moreover, when I met Klyent, I wanted to synthesize an Ancient Beasts Magical Pet myself. However, I got stuck at the embryonic stage because the Bloodline was difficult to find. I didn't expect to come here after receiving information about the Colbera King Snake." (To be continued...)
