Chapter 304:
This Force Field was very concealed; aside from Senterman glancing back at her, no one else seemed to notice anything.
The bright yellow flames ignited in the dark Passageway, illuminating a short distance ahead.
The group moved forward calmly, maintaining a silent understanding among themselves.
A layer of dense red mist swirled around Senterman, emitting a faint smell of blood, as if it were scanning the surrounding environment.
Meanwhile, Shirley kept rubbing a Green Crystal in her hand, seemingly unsure of its specific purpose.
Freya glanced back at the flames behind them and frowned.
The range of illumination from the flames seemed wider than usual; after walking for only five or six minutes, the entrance behind them had completely vanished from sight.
"Is there a light-absorbing substance?"
Gently touching the Moonquake Stone in her hand, she pondered for a moment before reaching out to touch the wall beside her. A chilling sensation surged through her arm.
Just as she was about to withdraw her arm, the Jester who had joined later suddenly hissed softly from behind.
"What are you doing! Do you know that—"
He had barely finished his sentence when Freya raised an eyebrow, and a faint icy aura spread toward the Jester.
"Do you dare to speak to me in that tone!?"
The Jester Wizard, who was only at Crystallization Level, sensed Freya's sharp aura and immediately stopped mid-sentence.
With a look of shock, he stared at Freya, who seemed to exude the essence of Liquefaction.
"You—"
Klyent, walking ahead, suddenly turned around, his gaze dark as he scanned the group behind him. His eyes finally settled on the Jester.
"What’s going on? Why is it so noisy?"
"My lord, she almost triggered a mechanism just now. I was only trying to stop her—"
Klyent frowned as he looked in the direction the Jester pointed.
"Hmm?"
Feeling Klyent's gaze upon her, Freya raised her hand.
"Don't look at me like that. I just discovered something, see."
In her palm appeared a layer of fine white appearance that shimmered with icy crystalline particles and emitted a faint chilling aura.
"What is this?"
Klyent stared at the unusual phenomenon in her hand. As if realizing something, he suddenly swung his fist and smashed it hard against the wall beside him.
With a loud bang, his fist broke through the wall, sending a shower of debris flying. He then yanked with all his strength.
A white Long Scar was instantly pulled out by him and then tossed to the ground.
With a snap, the white Long Scar shattered into pieces before everyone could see what it was, transforming into White Light that quickly dissipated.
After doing all this, Klyent clapped his hands and glanced at Jester.
"Let's go."
It was a simple command, and he had no intention of explaining further. He turned around and continued forward in silence.
Jester, who had caught Klyent's gaze, looked somewhat displeased, lowering his head as if lost in thought.
The others had no particular opinion on the matter; only Shirley cast a bewildered glance at Freya.
The group continued to advance through the Passageway.
After Klyent dealt with the mysterious Long Scar, the range of flames surrounding them returned to normal.
The sensation in Freya's Moonquake Stone gradually faded away.
However, they had not walked for more than a few minutes when Senterman suddenly raised his hand, signaling everyone to stop.
He looked toward the dark Passageway ahead and spoke in a cold voice.
"There are signs of a large number of creatures ahead, likely the Guardians."
"Can you sense what kind of species they are?" Udi cautiously took out two white cards from his waist and held them in his hand.
"The distance is too far; my dead bug can only sense a vague outline. Yours is too complicated—oh, so fast."
As soon as he finished speaking, the two bright flames ahead suddenly dimmed.
In the middle, Freya's expression changed drastically because, in her line of sight, a grotesque Azure Face abruptly appeared within the range of the flames.
The forehead of that Face was pulsating with thick blue veins, and its slightly open massive mouth revealed sharp fangs inside.
Its pitch-black eyes were filled with intense hatred and ferocity.
As the first Azure Face appeared, more of these creatures densely surrounded the group.
Klyent squinted his eyes and shook his hands.
With a soft sound, the white armor he was wearing suddenly expanded a bit more.
The gathered Force Field around him surged violently in front of him like a solid mass.
"It’s Earthbound Spirits; eliminate them!"
He let out a low roar and charged forward first.
Before long, a series of rumbling sounds echoed through the dense darkness.
Udi had been preparing and threw out two cards from his hand, murmuring an unknown incantation.
With a 'whoosh,' the thrown cards sliced through the air, leaving two clear white streaks. Immediately, a circle of transparent ripples exploded, splattering everywhere with a crackling sound.
Seeing the two who had engaged in battle first, Senterman and the other Klyent subordinates quickly prepared their own spells.
Standing in the middle, Freya had no intention of attacking; instead, she glanced at Shirley, who also remained inactive, and asked in confusion, "Aren't you going to join?"
"The task given to me by my lord was to protect you; I don't need to handle anything else."
"Protect me?" Freya cast a sidelong glance at Klyent, who was engulfed in darkness and fighting continuously. A glimmer flashed in her eyes as she pondered something.
A large number of Earthbound Spirits were torn apart, and as time passed, the battle within the Passageway gradually weakened until it disappeared.
Covered in green slime, Klyent stepped out from the darkness, holding an Azure Fierce Face mask, which he casually tossed to Udi.
"This is for you; it's the most complete one."
"Thanks." Udi replied with a slight smile as he accepted the mask.
After Udi put away the mask, Klyent tore off the larger chunks of slime on his body and turned to continue forward.
The others followed suit, stepping over the green slime that reeked of decay. Occasionally, they could see one or two relatively intact slender arms and feet.
This made Freya frown slightly.
The Earthbound Spirit is not exactly a type of organism, but rather one of the forms that result from the mutation of a corpse.
Such entities are quite common in most ruins or graveyards.
However, Freya was not very clear about Klyent's intention when he stripped the face off the Earthbound Spirit and tossed its mask to Udi.
In this dark Passageway, they walked for about half an hour.
Suddenly, the narrow Passageway opened up, revealing several tightly shut black stone doors around them.
Klyent, who had been leading the way, stopped and glanced at the black doors surrounding them.
"If the information from those wizards in the Shadow Realm is correct, then this is Hester's data room. Senterman!"
"I understand."
When Klyent called out to him, Senterman stepped forward with an unspoken understanding, slightly spreading his arms.
A strong stench of decay emanated from his entire body, followed by a swarm of black-red insects that quickly surged like a bloody mist into the surroundings.
In an instant, it seemed as though the entire area was filled with a thick foul odor.
"Those are Deathly Insects."
Although they knew these insects posed no threat to them, Freya still covered her mouth and nose.
The exploration of the Deathly Insects was swift, and soon they dissipated completely.
Senterman glanced around, a cold smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
"Everything's fine. The potential threats have been mostly eliminated."
"Mm." Nodding lightly, Klyent walked up to the nearest black door.
The black door was similar to an ordinary door, but upon closer inspection, intricate patterns were engraved on it.
These patterns emitted a faint aura of danger, as if they would explode upon contact.
Furrowing his brow, he took a step back and looked at Freya.
Without saying a word, Freya walked over to the Blackstone door and carefully observed the Rune Array that had been functioning for thousands of years.
With the knowledge she gained from the Ancient Inheritance, she immediately recognized that although this Rune Array was still operational, its energy had nearly depleted due to the seals being closed for too long.
After pondering for a moment, she took out a Charcoal Pencil and made a few modifications to the center of the patterns.
Before long, the runes that had originally exuded a dangerous aura completely ceased their activity.
Standing upright, Freya extended her hand and gently placed it on the stone door, then suddenly pressed down with force.
‘Crack!’
The hard stone door immediately split open with massive gaps radiating from her palm, followed by a loud crash as pieces fell to the ground.
Nodding in satisfaction, she stepped aside.
"That's it."
For Freya, easily breaking the Rune Array above, the others were only slightly surprised before they quickly calmed down.
After all, those who had the courage to enter the ruins surely had some skills.
Klyent looked at the shattered door and gently snapped his fingers.
With a 'snap', a wisp of yellow flame flew from his fingertip into the room, illuminating the entire space.
It seemed to be a data room, with wooden bookshelves piled high with thick stacks of paper.
Feeling that there was indeed no danger, he finally stepped inside.
He walked towards the nearest bookshelf, but just as he was about to reach out and touch the documents on it, suddenly, with a 'whoosh', the seemingly solid bookshelf shattered, and the well-preserved documents quickly dried out, turning yellow and becoming a pile of white ash.
This appeared to be just the beginning, as all the other bookshelves soon collapsed in succession.
The sudden turn of events caused everyone's expressions to change dramatically.
"The time has been too long; it's weathered."
Klyent crouched down and grabbed a handful of white ashes, revealing a look of regret.
All the information had suddenly vanished, making it unnecessary to stay.
Thus, Klyent, who had just entered, stepped back out.
However, when he turned around, his calm expression momentarily froze before becoming extremely grim. He gritted his teeth and spoke coldly.
"Where did Freya and Orf go?!"
Udi, who was also standing by the door, glanced around and frowned.
"Huh? They were just here. How could they disappear so suddenly?"
They were all elite wizards, so it was impossible for them to experience any kind of visual illusion. Therefore, there was only one explanation.
After thinking for a moment, Udi turned back and said.
"Senterman, did you check on Senterman?"
The Black-Robed Wizard, Senterman, who had been standing there moments ago, had also vanished without a trace.
In an instant, the remaining four felt as if a powerful presence was watching them.
...
In a dimly lit corridor.
The sound of crisp footsteps echoed through the silent corridor.
Freya squinted her eyes, cautiously sensing her surroundings.
She had just dispelled the rune on the stone door, and although she was with everyone moments ago, she found herself here in the blink of an eye.
"An illusion? Or a spatial trap?"
She reached out and lightly touched the wall beside her; the faintly cold stone confirmed to her that this was real.
On the right side of the corridor, there was a blue lamp at intervals, casting a light that made the entire corridor appear exceptionally eerie and frightening.
However, this had little effect on Freya.
She gently raised a finger, intending to contact others through her mark.
But she found that the signal on the mark had already been severed to gray, and even the horn given by Klyent had lost its communication function.
Just as she was considering other methods, a faint female voice suddenly came from deep within the corridor.
"Darling~~~ come quickly~~~ I'm waiting for you here~~~"
Each segment of the voice was drawn out, and combined with the echo in the corridor, it made the originally clear female voice sound exceptionally strange.
"Darling~~~ do you not love me anymore~~~ do you know~~~ how much I love you~~~"
Freya silently listened to this eerie voice, and soon her eyes slowly glowed with a faint green slit.
Under the gaze of the King Cobra, a pair of translucent white hands slowly reached out from the far end of an empty corridor, beckoning her gently.
The nails on those hands were painted a vivid crimson, sharp like the fangs of a venomous snake.
"Spirit, huh!"
Seeing those eerie hands, Freya snorted coldly and dashed toward their location.
As she ran, the straight corridor suddenly seemed to split into several branching paths, but she navigated through each one effortlessly.
The hands in front continued to beckon, yet the distance between them and Freya did not close at all, truly resembling an illusion.
Suddenly, Freya's expression sharpened as she opened her right hand wide.
'Swish!'
Five azure Thin Lines, mixed with a trace of black, shot out from her fingertips, slicing fiercely toward those hands.
'Tear!'
The sound of cutting echoed through the corridor.
Five distinct cracks appeared on the stone walls of the corridor.
The hands seemed to be injured as they recoiled, and the woman's voice that had been elongated suddenly let out an 'ah' before falling silent.
Just as Freya was about to pursue her advantage, a shadow abruptly flashed out from around a corner in the corridor.
"Bang!"
The shadow collided with Freya, and both were sent flying.
She felt a jolt through her body before crashing against the stone wall with a loud thud.
The shadow on the opposite side quickly got back up from the ground. (To be continued...)
