Chapter 346:
After a long while, his vacant pupils finally regained some focus.
However, as he became more aware, the intense pain from his body being torn apart by the waves of flames made him grit his teeth tightly.
A large amount of dark brown blood flowed from his mouth.
Just as he was about to faint again, Freya lightly flicked her finger, and a green seed instantly embedded itself into the chest of the Underworld Sorcerer, merging with the Black Crystal.
Suddenly, a large mass of green Flowing Light illuminated the severely injured Underworld Sorcerer, and the damaged limbs were covered and entwined by strands of green filaments.
In no time, what was once a charred figure transformed into a humanoid being wrapped in Green Threads.
Feeling his life force gradually stabilize, Freya said calmly, "Alright, your injuries are temporarily suppressed and won't flare up for at least two hours. Let's go."
Seemingly surprised that Freya would help him heal, the Underworld Sorcerer paused slightly, and then his expression became somewhat complicated.
At Freya's urging, he quickly assessed the direction and then headed towards the left.
Under the originally silent night sky, piercing shrieks and explosions echoed intermittently.
Black figures swiftly darted through the air, occasionally dropping fireballs the size of basins that turned the ground into a sea of orange flames.
On the scorched earth, a group of Black-Robed Wizards riding Strange Creatures continuously thrust their two short spears into the air.
The blue glow igniting on the spears shot upwards like meteors rising from the ground, swiftly claiming the lives of Wilderness Witches one by one.
The entire battlefield was plunged into chaotic and bloody slaughter.
Amidst the frenzy of battle, Freya and her companion slowly approached the far end of the battlefield.
Not far from them, a massive dark fissure slowly opened and closed. Waves of Underworld Sorcerers emerged from the crack, their bodies glowing as they stepped out, surrounded by a silver halo at their feet. Their overall physical attributes and the concentration of their magical spells were enhanced.
It seemed to be some sort of aura-based area spell for warfare.
Freya frowned slightly as she gazed at the enormous dark fissure.
"Is it a portal-like crack? This doesn't seem to be an entrance to the Underworld."
Entrances to the Underworld were usually very concealed, and even if a fixed entrance was discovered, it could be guarded by Underworld Sorcerers.
The entrance to the Underworld that Freya had previously marked on the map had also turned into ruins due to the ravages of war.
Initially, she had planned to approach through the army of Underworld Sorcerers, but it seemed more complicated now.
Realizing that this was merely a transit point for an army, Freya's eyes turned cold as she looked at the Underworld Sorcerer leading her.
However, facing Freya's gaze, the Underworld Sorcerer did not shy away. Instead, he spoke gravely.
"If I take you to the entrance of the Underworld, will you really let me go?"
"Of course," Freya replied lightly, nodding. "I have no interest in your life."
He did not immediately respond to Freya's words but lowered his gaze to the Black Crystal on his chest and the Green Threads surrounding him.
After a long while, he finally spoke.
"Alright, I'll tell you where the entrance to the Underworld is! Do you see that tree over there?"
He pointed to a solitary Tall Tree in the distance. The branches of the Tall Tree were somewhat bare, with only a few leaves sprouting at the top, looking quite pitiful.
"That is the entrance to the Underworld; we escaped from there."
"Oh?" Following his point direction, Freya raised an eyebrow. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, but there is a group of wizards from the Reald Family guarding the entrance. If you want to enter the Underworld, you must deal with them first; otherwise, it's impossible to get in."
Perhaps fearing that Freya wouldn't believe him, he continued.
"Moreover, I know that the Reald Family initiated the war with you Surface Sorcerers because a certain treasure from the Underworld was discovered as a cover."
"A treasure? Could it be..."
Hearing this word made Freya's heart sink slightly.
In the memories of Soulbug, the only precious things in this area were the Spring of Life and the ancient tree.
Connecting this to the abnormal war here, Freya sensed something was off.
The Puppet Crystal she created had the ability to discern lies and control bodies. And just now, her Puppet Crystal showed no reaction to his words, indicating a high level of truth in what he said.
After pondering for a moment, Freya slightly raised her head. A green light flashed through her originally calm gaze.
"I understand."
As she gently nodded, her figure gradually faded away, and strands of gray mist slowly appeared around her.
In the blink of an eye, Freya completely vanished.
The Underworld Sorcerer, left alone, stared blankly at the spot where Freya had disappeared, lost in thought.
The Tall Tree was not far from the battlefield. Occasionally, a wide-area offensive spell would sweep over Freya, causing ripples to appear around her.
However, it only caused ripples.
The Black Crystal armor she wore completely disregarded attacks from those below the Second-Level Wizard rank.
Although the battlefield looked intense, most of the combatants were within the First-Level Wizard range.
After all, Second-Level Wizards were elite strategic units that typically did not engage unless in special circumstances.
Arriving swiftly beneath the Tall Tree, Freya felt the tree's enormity for the first time. It was almost as if ten people would need to embrace it to circle around.
Some twisted and grotesque brown roots crawled across the ground like elongated human arms, looking quite bizarre.
Standing under the Tall Tree, a layer of crystalline green light covered Freya's eyes.
"Hmph, is it an illusion? It seems this is indeed the place."
After a brief pause, Freya extended her hand and slowly pressed it against the rough trunk of the tree.
With a soft sound, her palm surprisingly sank completely into the trunk, leaving only her arm outside, creating a very strange sight.
A unique sensation traveled from her palm throughout her body.
A flash of green light appeared in her eyes as she stepped directly into the trunk.
It felt like entering a bubble; Freya sensed her body rapidly descending, supported by an invisible force field.
This sensation was fleeting, and soon Freya found herself in an open area.
Surrounding her were uneven rock walls, and a cold, damp feeling hit her face.
Just as Freya was adjusting to the environment of this area, a loud shout in Underworld Language suddenly came from not far to her left.
"Intruder! It's a Surface Sorcerer!! Quickly notify..."
However, before the voice could finish, it suddenly turned hoarse, and strands of red thin lines flew out from that direction, converging in Freya's right hand.
At some point, Freya's eyes had completely transformed into green crystals, and her emerald green hair floated gently around her.
Invisibly, circles of special force fields radiated outward from her center, and various fine red threads began to appear around her.
As Freya fully activated her Bloodline Power, the area around the entrance to the Underworld began to boil.
The Black-Robed Wizards quickly retreated. These were at most first-level Liquefied Sorceresses, originally only meant for vigilance, tasked with maintaining the entrance between the Underworld and the surface. Although they possessed some strength, they were not particularly formidable.
At this moment, drawn by Freya's absorbing aura, the weakest of the wizards began to involuntarily lose blood.
This blood liquefied into thin lines that flew towards a certain direction through their mouths, noses, and eyes, creating an exceptionally eerie sight.
"The Sixth Squad has lost contact! Requesting support at the entrance!!!"
"Hurry! Get out of this area! It's an invasion by Surface Sorcerers!!"
"Use the terrain to block her! Do not engage at close range; the target possesses powerful blood control abilities!!"
Bang!
With a loud crash, the surrounding rock walls collapsed, blocking the cave entrance.
Freya walked slowly past the collapsed cave on her left, ignoring the commotion of these low-level wizards as she slightly squinted her eyes.
"This place seems to deviate from Soulbug's memories. Ah, there it is!"
She suddenly noticed a twisted cave on her right that faintly overlapped with Soulbug's memories.
"Indeed, it's this place."
Just as she was about to head in that direction, a strong dark shadow emerged from behind her.
"Scum of the surface! Die for me!!"
After the roar in the Underworld Language, a massive shadow slammed toward Freya's back.
The shadow was surrounded by a strong brown glow, which seemed to carry a special scent of decay.
Feeling the attack from behind, Freya slightly tilted her head, and then her entire figure suddenly vanished.
'Szzzz!'
A flash of black lightning erupted, and countless black traces slowly dissipated in the air.
'Thud.'
A pile of minced flesh mixed with a strong stench of blood sprawled on the ground.
Looking at the indistinguishable remains beneath her feet, Freya gently flicked the blood off her Cross Sword.
"The specially crafted resistance to absorption aura carries the scent of a Second-Level Wizard. It seems the elite of the Underworld Sorcerer is coming; I should leave here first."
After a pause, her figure disappeared again, leaving only a Disarray behind.
In her current state after activating Bloodline Power, she wouldn't care unless it was a Third Peak Wizard.
The powerful King Serpent's Gift was enough to turn any existence below it into a source of her own power, regardless of their numbers.
After becoming invisible, Freya combined it with the Secret Art of concealment; hardly anyone could perceive her presence.
Freya moved like a transparent ghost, following the route etched in her memory toward her destination.
...
Five Hours.
In a vast underground area.
Above her, fluorescent moss illuminated the surroundings.
A river, glowing with green light, flowed gently, surrounded by various gigantic fungi that thrived along its banks.
It felt like entering a beautiful mushroom forest.
By the riverbank, a black boot slowly appeared, followed by armor, and then Freya's cold face.
Bending down, she extended her hand to lightly touch the river water, feeling a chilling sensation that pierced through her.
Straightening up, Freya scanned the mushroom forest, finding no signs of human activity.
"Could it be that the terrain has changed again? Soulbug's memory included this river, but not this mushroom forest."
The environment of the Underworld seemed not entirely fixed; besides this abrupt mushroom forest, Freya had encountered several such phenomena along the route she remembered.
Moreover, as she continued on her path, the previous Underworld Sorcerer from the war gradually faded away, seemingly not having explored this area.
"Could it be that the treasure of that previous Underworld Sorcerer led me astray?"
In her confusion, she continued along the river until Freya passed by a giant pink polka-dotted mushroom.
Suddenly, pink dust began to fall from the top of the mushroom.
A strange fragrance filled the air.
"Hmm?"
Freya, catching a whiff of the scent, paused for a moment, and then her expression changed. Instinctively, she covered her mouth and nose and flew up into the air.
As she ascended higher and higher, it wasn't long before she reached the very top.
Then, illuminated by a glow above her, Freya noticed that the enormous mushrooms below began to spray large clouds of colorful dust.
The entire area seemed to be enveloped in these vibrant colors.
"What is this?"
With a serious expression, Freya uncovered her mouth and nose. Just from a brief sniff of that fragrance, she felt a hint of temptation, as if it were urging her to consume that giant mushroom.
'Rumble'
A series of loud thuds echoed from afar. Freya looked up in that direction.
She saw some massive lizards and other underground creatures seemingly drawn to these mushrooms, rushing madly toward her.
The first underground creature to arrive opened its big mouth and fiercely bit down on a giant mushroom, then began to gulp it down eagerly.
Suddenly, the entire mushroom forest began to collapse, and the green river seemed to darken in color.
Floating in the air, Freya sensed something was off.
"Mushroom plants don't need to be seeded, and this method seems familiar."
As she pondered, the river unexpectedly split open in the middle, with large amounts of green water flowing into the gap.
The entire underground earth began to tremble violently.
Suddenly, Freya looked ahead and saw a gigantic eyeball that had opened on the ground without her noticing.
The orange-yellow eye was as large as half of the mushroom forest, with a pitch-black pupil reflecting the glow from above.
Suspended in the air, Freya felt as insignificant as a speck of dust.
This sudden scene left Freya momentarily stunned, and just as she was lost in thought,
the peculiar 'river' suddenly opened up, revealing a bottomless black hole. (To be continued.)
