Chapter Three Hundred Seventy-Two:
Her entire body was unconsciously suspended in mid-air.
Her golden hair quickly transformed into a vibrant green, flowing with the wind.
In a daze, a massive serpent silhouette slowly emerged behind her.
The serpent was elongated, its emerald eyes reflecting indifference and tranquility, with transparent membranes slightly unfurling.
Tendrils of white mist gradually filled the entire room.
The White Mist grew thicker, surrounding Freya like a gigantic white cocoon.
Then, it seemed as if the sound of a heartbeat slowly emanated from within the cocoon.
It felt as though something was being nurtured inside.
After an unknown amount of time, the White Mist in the room began to dissipate.
With a crisp sound, the white cocoon slowly cracked open from the center and then vanished.
Freya, who had been floating in mid-air, opened her eyes.
Her crystalline green eyes occasionally flashed with streaks of green light.
Her green hair gently swayed, and on her fair forehead was a semi-transparent King Cobra Mark, while the previous Eye of the King Snake had completely disappeared.
Gently raising her hand, Freya tried to clench her fist, feeling somewhat puzzled.
"Is this the change that occurs during the first manifestation of form?"
She sensed a strange feeling in her body, as if she were losing control, not quite like her own body.
A slight movement in her heart stirred amidst the swirling green mist.
A long, emerald Green Serpent tail slowly emerged from beneath her, while Freya's entire aura underwent a dramatic transformation.
An invisible pressure radiated from her.
At this moment, Freya's appearance had transformed into another form.
Her upper body still retained her human shape, but her lower half had been replaced by a verdant serpent tail.
The tail was adorned with countless twisted patterns, the meaning of which was unknown.
Surrounded by a hazy White Mist, Freya's figure created an illusion of being both present and elusive.
In this form, Freya's senses were almost infinitely amplified.
In her line of sight, it seemed as if she could perceive deeper layers of reality.
The entire room transformed into a network of fine points and lines, with strands of colorful light drifting through the air.
Freya felt an illusion of having everything under control.
She lightly waved her hand, and a mass of white mist coalesced in her palm, transforming into a shrunken rain cloud.
Under Freya's control, the rain cloud morphed into various bizarre shapes, even more effortlessly than Wind Element Particles, as if it were instinctual.
"This state is almost indistinguishable from the purest Elemental Entity. Is this the powerful secret of Ancient Inheritance? But what level do I consider myself at now?"
Casually dispersing the White Mist in her hand, Freya gazed at the slender serpent tail beneath her, lost in thought.
Having shed the limitations of a human body, the King Cobra form she had acquired represented a fundamental transformation of her body or an evolution in a controllable direction.
This method of evolution followed the path of the King Cobra that she had inherited.
Before she had condensed her first form, her own wizard level was at Third Peak, already having glimpsed a hint of the essence of dawn.
However, now Freya felt that even a Dawn Wizard might not be as powerful as she was.
The formidable resistance brought by the King Cobra body rendered third-tier spells utterly meaningless against her.
Moreover, her control over energy allowed her to disrupt Third Peak wizards' manipulation of Energy Particles, creating a weakened version of a domain.
"If I compare my current state to the aura of the Grand Elder back then, my strength should not be lower than that of a peak Dawn Wizard, or perhaps even higher. However, compared to the domain power gained by Dawn Wizards through soul transformation, my own control over space still seems too weak."
As she made comparisons and self-assessments, Freya gradually formed a vague understanding of her current level.
Aside from the domain power of Dawn Wizards, she was already nearly on par with the high-level combat power of Blood Eagle Territory.
Yet, even for the high-ranking members of Blood Eagle Territory, their strength was merely relatively strong within the vast Cloud City, but not the strongest.
No, those from Sky City, just the few major families that have been passed down since ancient times, are probably comparable to the elders of Blood Eagle Territory.
"However, judging by Blood Eagle Territory's tough stance towards Sky City, the members of the Elder Council are likely hiding something. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to sweep through the entire Crimson Plain without being stopped by Sky City."
Thinking of Sky City, Freya felt that the recent situation was somewhat strange.
Although Blood Eagle Territory has been domineering in Crimson Eagle, ever since they defined their boundaries, there has been little contact with Sky City aside from basic trade.
But recently, it seems that the conflicts between Blood Eagle Territory and Sky City have been increasing.
And this time, it even resulted in a death. This is the most serious incident yet.
"Perhaps these past ten years have been too stable."
A strange look flashed in Freya's eyes.
In a sense, Blood Eagle Territory is not the local Wizard Organization of Cloud City but a powerful organization that migrated from a gathering place of Dark Wizards.
This is some internal information that Freya learned only after becoming a mid-level member; several of the elders were once ruthless individuals and are extremely protective of their own interests.
If Sky City tries to handle this situation like they did with the Sea Tribe without giving a proper response, it might lead to another bloody incident.
"Of course, even if war breaks out, at my current level, self-preservation is sufficient."
After a pause, Freya dispelled this form and returned to her normal human appearance.
Her emerald green hair slowly transformed into golden long hair, and the King Cobra Mark on her forehead was completely concealed.
Freya slightly moved her body and turned to glance at the now empty Blood Pool and the still peeling Jet Black Helmet.
After a moment of thought, she walked up to the transparent glass column and reached her hand inside.
"Hiss."
Freya's arm surprisingly passed through the glass and grabbed the Jet Black Helmet. She then gently pulled the helmet out of the glass column.
Securing the helmet with Wind Element Particle at her waist, she exited the room.
As she left, the entire room began to burn with dark Ashfire.
All traces of everything disappeared completely under the scorching flames.
After leaving the temporary hideout and handling some matters back at the villa, Freya headed directly to the Rune Department.
Currently, most of the mid-level staff in the Rune Department were absent for various reasons, leaving only two behind, while the director and two Deputy Directors were also away on special missions.
Thus, the current Rune Department had to rely on Freya and another Wizard named Sith to manage it.
Three hours later.
In a private office on a high floor of the Rune Department, Freya sat behind a mahogany desk, reviewing recent documents. The Feather Pen in her hand occasionally flickered with a faint red light, and with each flicker, her Wizard's Mark appeared above it.
Knock knock knock.
A crisp knock echoed from outside the door.
"Come in," Freya said without looking up.
The door opened, and Wen Li entered, dressed in a white robe with red trim.
She held two golden invitations in her hand, the front adorned with a fluffy wing pattern that emitted a faint glow.
"Teacher, this is an invitation from the Wiseman Family, inviting you and Lord Sis to the Salon Gathering at Wiseman Manor tomorrow afternoon."
"As usual, you can go on my behalf. Is there anything else?"
"It's about the Furnace City Incident. There has been a conclusion."
Upon hearing Wen Li's words, Freya set down her Feather Pen, gently pinched her brow, and looked up.
"What conclusion?"
"Sky City will provide resource compensation and issue a public apology from the involved wizards."
Freya was not surprised by this outcome; she merely teased lightly, "Oh? The people of Sky City are actually backing down?"
"It seems so. However, the Grand Elder has also issued an important directive: all Official Wizards in Blood Eagle Territory must be on guard when encountering people from Sky City. It appears something significant is about to happen. Recently, Crimson Plain has also begun issuing orders to expel Sky City merchant groups."
"Mm," Freya nodded and thought for a moment. "Then recently, aside from the central city, you shouldn't go to other places. I will give Seth a heads-up."
"Yes, teacher," Wen Li replied respectfully.
After putting aside the documents she had finished on the table and pressing something down on them, Freya seemed to remember something and turned to Wen Li.
"By the way, Wen Li, your Belamus Family is actually a branch family of the Fourth Elder, right?"
Although Wen Li found Freya's question a bit strange, she still nodded honestly.
"Yes, teacher."
"Then do you know that the Fourth Elder also practices the Wind of Oblivion Meditation Method?"
"Yes," Wen Li nodded inexplicably.
Several members of the Elder Council practice two Advanced Meditation Methods from the Blood Eagle Territory. Moreover, they all belong to the peak level.
Or at another level, several elders are at the Dawn Wizard tier.
However, due to different understandings of the essence of the soul, their Domain Abilities and strengths have subtle differences.
This is a confidential matter for outer members. But for someone at Freya's mid-level stage, it is not particularly secret; it was unclear why Freya suddenly asked this.
However, Freya didn't dwell on it and simply waved her hand thoughtfully.
"Got it. If there's nothing else, you can leave. Oh, by the way," Freya raised her head and said. "Please help me pick a gift for the Wiseman Family; after all, they are the largest supplier of luminescent stones in my Blood Eagle Territory."
"I understand, teacher."
Wen Li slightly bowed and then left the office.
Watching the smooth wooden door slowly close, Freya lightly tapped her fingers on the desk, her brow slightly furrowed.
"Although the strength of the Dawn Wizard is formidable, it is clearly not enough to withstand the pressure from those in Sky City. Even though it seems I have fully acquired the Winds of Oblivion, it is likely incomplete. I wonder if any other wizards, apart from a few major ministers, have reached my level for some communication."
After pondering for a moment, suddenly, a White Rose mark on her finger lit up.
A clear female voice emanated from the mark.
"Lady Freya, this is World Gate. The Rune Tower is experiencing strong tremors, and World Gate is indirectly affected. To prevent any unforeseen incidents, please hurry here as soon as possible."
"World Gate?" Freya paused for a moment and then raised her finger. "Alright, I understand. I will set off immediately."
After a brief contemplation, she quickly resolved the remaining documents and then stood up directly.
...
Seven hours later.
Crimson Plain, Sakalen region.
In the azure sky, two enormous Red Eagles soared swiftly.
Each giant eagle carried a wizard on its back.
Dressed in a Red Robe, Freya slightly squinted her eyes as the giant eagle soared through the sky, revealing four dark Blackstone Towers beneath her.
In the center of the tower was a black hole that appeared out of nowhere, with strands of white light pulling at it to prevent it from closing.
Surrounding the towers were several wizards in white robes from the Blood Eagle Territory.
As the giant eagle descended rapidly, a cold witch with silver hair quickly approached.
"Lady Freya, the World Gate has shown signs of closing again. We have temporarily relocated the transport team and other wizards from the Insect Realm. What do you think?"
"Oh? Has it started to close?" Freya frowned and jumped off the back of the giant eagle, sensing that things were becoming serious.
"Let's go take a look."
Before long, Freya and her companions arrived quickly at the Rune Tower.
The black hole in the center emitted faint creaking sounds.
If it weren't for the four Rune Towers holding it in place, this fissure would likely close within two minutes.
However, three of the Rune Towers radiated stable energy, while the fourth had an intermittent feeling.
"Vibration?"
Approaching the fourth Rune Tower, Freya extended her hand and gently touched the tower's wall.
A tingling sensation mixed with a massive flow of information transmitted through her palm.
Rune Tower is typically subjected to special defensive measures after its construction, which solidify its structure. This treatment theoretically allows it to withstand intense attacks from Level 3 Energy Manipulation Sorcery without damage, unless faced with irresistible factors; otherwise, accidents are unlikely to occur.
To breach such defenses, one must possess authority at the Director level or higher.
Freya lightly closed her eyes, sensing the information within.
After a long moment, she suddenly opened her eyes, her expression shifting slightly as she swiftly extended her hand.
A black Cross Sword abruptly formed, and Freya thrust it directly toward the Rune Tower.
‘Crack!’
The towering Rune Tower quickly spread with fine cracks and emitted a sizzling sound, completely losing its function.
The previously unstable World Rift immediately ceased its anomalies after the destruction of a Rune Tower.
This series of actions happened so quickly that the several wizards beside Freya had no idea what had transpired.
Among them, a Silver-Haired Witch stared blankly at the completely destroyed Rune Tower.
"Milady..." (To be continued.)
