Chapter Three Hundred Seventy-Eight:
The two wizards from the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit, although at the peak of the first level, were surrounded by a faint bloody aura, their presence extremely intimidating.
Their sharp gazes fixed on Freya, as if ready to attack at the slightest hint of a wrong answer.
However, Freya paid no mind to the hostility emanating from them. She took out the Red Eagle Head wooden token from her waist, and spoke in a deep voice.
"I am a wizard from the Rune Department. I have important matters to attend to at headquarters. Please stand aside."
Upon seeing the token that indicated her director-level status, the two wizards paused slightly. After confirming its authenticity with their mental energy, they stepped aside and respectfully said,
"Yes, my lady."
"Mm."
Nodding slightly, Freya swept past them and flew directly towards the headquarters.
Ten minutes later.
In front of the Rune Department's Department Head's Office.
Freya, still wearing her tattered robe, reached out and gently knocked on the door.
'Knock knock knock.'
As the sound echoed, an Ancient Voice slowly came from within.
"Come in."
With permission granted, Freya pushed open the door.
A faint scent of mint immediately reached her nostrils. In the office, a frail old man dressed in a Red Robe was writing something at his desk with a Feather Pen, occasionally splattering small dots of crimson light. Behind the old man were two Mahogany Bookshelves and a filing cabinet.
On the desk, there were two stacks of white documents, and to the left of the desk stood a golden birdcage. A red parrot was dozing inside the cage.
This old man was Edward Cullen, the second Deputy Director of the Rune Department, after Meilong.
Freya stood patiently in the middle of the office, waiting for the old man to finish writing.
After a while, he set down the Feather Pen and looked up. However, he paused slightly when he saw Freya's tattered black Robe.
"Freya, weren't you handling matters at the World Gate? What happened?"
Edward was already informed about the paralysis incident at the World Gate when Freya had Reiner return, so he was not surprised by this matter.
In response to Director Edward's inquiry, Freya nodded respectfully.
"Yes, sir. I was attacked by an Abyssal Creature on my way back, and it has a significant connection to the incident at the World Gate."
"Abyssal Creature? Are you sure?" Edward's brows furrowed deeply.
Without saying a word, Freya took out the Soul Gathering Orb from her waist and handed it to him before continuing, "This is the residual soul I collected after killing that Abyssal Creature. It can be analyzed by the Intelligence Department."
Edward took the orb and gently sniffed it, immediately detecting a strong sulfuric smell, which changed his expression.
"It indeed carries the aura of an Abyssal Creature. Who else knows about this besides you?"
Freya thought for a moment and replied solemnly, "Enya from the Intelligence Department probably knows some details as well. Based on information obtained from that Abyssal Creature, I suspect there may be a spy within our ranks."
Edward held the Soul Gathering Orb, his expression contemplative in silence.
After a long while, he raised his head, his face turning unusually serious.
"If this matter is true, it is of great significance. I will immediately inform several elders. You performed well this time, but the attack by the Abyssal Creature must be kept confidential; do not tell anyone, understand?"
"Yes, my lord."
Freya understood; this was to block information and avoid alarming the enemy, preventing any traitors from escaping.
"Good." Edward nodded, glancing at Freya, whose face had turned exceptionally pale. "You were injured this time as well. I grant you a half-month leave to rest and recuperate. Meilong and the others will return from Forge City soon; you have worked hard."
"This is what I should do." Freya slightly bowed. "If there is nothing else, I will take my leave."
"Mm."
After receiving a response, Freya exited the office.
Gently closing the door, she let out a deep sigh. Her head felt like it was splitting apart, and her body felt somewhat weak; these were signs of severe mental strain.
After experiencing this battle and flying rapidly for five or six hours, even she could not endure it any longer.
Fortunately, aside from these strains, she had not suffered significant damage in other aspects.
Although the King Cobra was not particularly skilled in combat, its physical constitution was beyond that of a human body. In comparison, Freya's current physical quality could rival that of a specialized Second-Level Wizard. Moreover, in terms of recovery ability, as long as the wounds were not too severe, she could fully recover within minutes.
However, although transforming into her first form no longer consumed Bloodline Power, it directly converted into physical strength and some special energy.
As a result, after relaxing, Freya felt a slight sense of exhaustion creeping in.
"I might be able to enhance my physical abilities through other means, or I could directly choose to promote to Dawn Wizard, which would provide a dual enhancement of life and soul, but that seems impractical."
The promotion to Dawn Wizard represents a qualitative change in the soul. Although she has already touched upon some thresholds and has the Spirit Knight as a research subject, it is clear that this plan cannot be realized in the short term.
As for enhancing physical abilities through external means, Freya is uncertain whether it would have a concrete effect on her transformation. After all, what she experiences is more about restoring her original body than transforming into something else.
However, this restoration places a significant burden on her. If she uses it for an extended period without her body reaching a certain level, the consequences could be severe.
Freya rubbed her temples to ease the headache.
"Perhaps I can find a fundamental solution, but for now, I should just rest."
The malice from the Abyss World has many high and mid-level officials from Blood Eagle Territory to deal with it. There is nothing more she can do at this point; all she can do now is wait and observe...
Seven hours later.
Inside the villa by the lake.
Passing through the tranquil forest and the large glass house of the botanical garden leads to a serene lake.
Several rows of white chairs are placed under the shade of trees by the lakeside.
A white path made of cobblestones encircles the lake.
Warm sunlight filters through the leaves, casting round patches of light on the white chairs.
In the forest, several red-headed birds chirp, adding a lively atmosphere to the lake.
Freya, dressed in a white silk long dress, squats on a stone by the lake. Next to her is a black leather bucket filled with large chunks of Crimson meat.
Her golden hair falls loosely down her back. As she tosses a piece of meat into the lake, strands of hair flutter slightly in front of her.
As she threw the chunks of meat into the lake, the originally tranquil water slowly rippled.
The slight vibrations caused the nearby forest to emit a soft rustling sound.
In the clear center of the lake, a dark long shadow gradually emerged.
"Wow—"
Suddenly, a large splash of white waves erupted from the surface of the lake. A massive head, measuring three to four meters, broke through the water.
It was a giant black Snake Head. Its brown eyes were gentle, and there was a circle of green patterns on its forehead that extended all around its body, making it very beautiful.
Satisfied with the snake's appearance, Freya smiled slightly.
"Life has been good lately. You've grown a few more rings."
This was the snake she had released before, but it was unclear whether it was due to Freya's experiment going awry or influenced by the King Cobra's Bloodline. This creature was significantly larger in both lifespan and size compared to its peers.
Its strength even surpassed that of an average First-Level Wizard.
Seemingly able to understand Freya's praise, the giant snake showed a look of delight in its eyes as it began to consume the meat chunks floating in the lake.
Once the giant snake finished eating those chunks, Freya picked up a leather bucket and walked towards the villa.
Walking on the cobblestone path, she quickly returned to her study.
At this moment, on her desk, in addition to scattered documents, there was also a red scroll.
The top of the scroll featured a Red-Headed Eagle emblem, clearly originating from Blood Eagle Territory.
Freya set down the leather bucket and approached her desk, unrolling the scroll to reveal an exquisite piece of parchment inside.
Above are some special events that have occurred in this city and information released by the Blood Eagle Territory's Intelligence Department, serving as an internal newspaper for the Blood Eagle Territory.
Skimming through the mundane information, Freya quickly found the news she was looking for.
"Regarding the tracking report on the Abyss World, according to personnel from the Intelligence Department, the conspiracy of the Seventh Abyss world has been completely controlled by Lady Philya of the Blood Eagle Territory and Lord Kain. Eighteen war prisoners from the Abyss are now held in the Black Prison, including Hornbakarna, the fifth son of the Seventh Abyss lord, and Skabakania, the fourth son. As for this malicious incident from the Abyss World, the Elder Council has sent a declaration of war to Abyss Lord Buck Bacania of the Seventh Abyss world. This move has received full support from powerful organizations such as Stellar Tower and Black Cross Kaibel Family."
Below the text was an image.
Several Guardians' Wizards in Red Robes and black-robed Intelligence Department wizards stood beside a red altar.
In the center of the altar was a massive red fissure, from which a man engulfed in Red Flame, with twisted horns on his head, was desperately raising his hand as if trying to break free from something, his expression one of extreme pain.
Freya recognized that the man engulfed in flames was indeed the fifth son of the Seventh Abyss lord, as indicated by a line of text below.
"The Seventh Abyss?"
She frowned slightly; this news clearly overlooked a lot of useful information.
From what Freya knew, the Seventh Abyss itself was considered an outer region of the Abyss World, still in a state of low-level chaos.
Even though an Abyss Lord had emerged, it was unlikely that they would resort to tactics like ambushes through Abyssal Gates or infiltration by traitors.
There must be other forces involved behind this; the Seventh Abyss was merely cannon fodder.
With the strength of the Blood Eagle Territory and support from organizations like Stellar Tower and other Wizard Organizations, eliminating a low-level chaotic world would be comparable to a routine power struggle.
However, due to the chaotic and murderous nature of the Abyss World, even if the Blood Eagle Territory could dominate the Seventh Abyss, they would not gain much in terms of resources or benefits.
After some speculation and analysis regarding experts on the Abyss World, Freya rolled up the parchment again and placed it back into its tube.
Sitting at her desk, she lightly tapped her fingers on its surface, revealing a contemplative expression.
"I have almost fully recovered both physically and mentally. The rifts appearing in the Blood Eagle Territory from the Abyss World can serve as a stepping stone. If it weren't for the deeper layers of the Abyss, with my current strength, I could almost implement that plan."
Both the condensation of the Second Form and the qualitative change of dawn require immense power to drive them.
Freya's own King Cobra inheritance allows her to absorb the Bloodline of other creatures as her own power.
Her intention is to generate qualitative changes through quantity, and combined with her research on Knight Spirit, if the theory is correct, this method could elevate her to the level of Dawn Wizard.
That is, to the peak of Winds of Oblivion.
Perhaps this method might alter some elemental properties of Winds of Oblivion, but based on Freya's extensive research, such changes would only deviate towards the properties of King Cobra.
The properties of King Cobra have already been fixed after the condensation of the first form, which are 'water' and 'life', along with 'wind' from Winds of Oblivion.
The soul Domain Ability gained after advancing to Dawn Wizard would likely revolve around these three elements.
After a pause, she stood up and walked out of the study.
Five minutes later.
In the vast basement beneath the villa.
A green Seedling emitted a green glow, quietly standing in the center of the basement.
Freya pushed open the heavy stone door and entered the basement. She lightly snapped her fingers, and the illumination runes carved on the walls immediately lit up with a warm white light.
On the floor of the basement was a massive circular Rune Array.
Dense patterns occupied the entire Rune Array and emitted a faint red glow.
This was the Ancient Summoning Circle that Nick had given her earlier.
Freya walked around the Rune Array on the ground and approached the Seedling.
The vibrant green Seedling radiated with life, with wisps of green energy swirling around it like spirits of life.
She reached out her hand and gently caught a light point, feeling a faint coolness emanating from her palm.
"Using the Tree of Life as a vessel for my avatar should be able to withstand the turbulence of time and space, allowing for a stable arrival."
The life force contained within the Tree of Life is enough to revive a dead person and has a special purifying effect.
Moreover, the 'life' element in the King Cobra's attributes is largely a mutation influenced by the Tree of Life.
This 'purification' can be considered a beneficial 'contamination' from the Tree of Life.
The essence of Freya's plan is fundamentally based on the Tree of Life; otherwise, the mere power of the King Cobra or that of a wizard could not possibly endure in other worlds. (To be continued...)
