Chapter 380:
The existence of the Guardian of the World Rule is the meaning of most Forest Kings' existence.
Just like the Abyss Lords that naturally emerged from the Abyss World, and the Revenant Guardians from the Hell World.
Indeed, these existences all belong to the same form.
"In the Ancient Times of the Wizarding World, there were many types of Forest Kings, each with different directions of guardianship. However, with the terrifying wars that spread across the world, even the powerful Forest Kings fell one after another. But as far as I know, once such an existence dies, the world's self-repairing ability will inevitably give rise to a similar life form. So where have the Forest Kings of this era gone?"
Freya put down the magazine in her hand and took a sip of her black tea, falling into deep thought.
The only Forest King she knew of so far was the Storm Leviathan above Sky City, and it was a king that had lost its meaning.
Or perhaps it had lost its qualification to guard the World Rule, but what could be the reason?
Freya speculated that this secret might not even be known to the higher-ups of Sky City.
"Now I can identify myself as a descendant of the Royal Serpent Bloodline. Does that mean my ultimate path must follow in the footsteps of the former King Cobra?"
She was unsure if she, as a human soul, would also be recognized by the entire world.
To uncover these secrets, she would first need to seek out the former Stardust Prairie before making any further plans.
"However, before that, I should try to find some information about the Ancient Times. What I know is too superficial. Besides this, even that war capable of changing the world remains exceptionally vague, as if someone is deliberately obscuring it."
On the surface, that war was initiated by Human Wizards breaking free from the rule of Ancient Beasts. But as Freya delved deeper into the King Cobra Legacy, she increasingly felt that there were other hidden truths behind that war.
She still clearly remembered the countless dark cracks that tore through the void in the fragments of inherited memories, as well as those enormous purple creatures that were clearly not from the Wizarding World.
"Perhaps during that time, the Wizarding World faced an invasion from Otherworldly Creatures," Freya suddenly thought of something and put down her cup. "By the way, Klyent's tomb raiding team loves to explore ancient ruins or mysterious areas everywhere. It's been a long time since we last met; maybe we can find some clues among those ruins."
With that thought, she took out the long-unused horn from her waist and gently wiped it.
"Hiss."
The horn slowly emitted a faint blue glow.
"Hey? Freya, why did you suddenly think of contacting me? Is there something up?" Klyent's rugged voice came from the horn.
"Hehe, it's been a while since I saw an old friend. Is it wrong to reach out? So, where are you now?" Freya smiled slightly.
"Is that so?" Klyent sounded puzzled for a moment before his tone became somewhat excited. "I'm at the Deep Sea Garden right now. There's a Sea Tomb here that seems to hide some treasures, but the Sea Monster guarding the Sea Tomb is really annoying. We're stuck in Underwater Combat, which we're not good at. Are you interested in coming over?"
"Deep Sea Garden?" Hearing this name, Freya was taken aback.
This place was so dangerous that even the Sea Tribe would probably not venture there easily; it was almost like a death zone and quite far from Cloud City. She couldn't believe Klyent had managed to get there.
"Oh, never mind, it's too far away," Freya said with a slight bitter smile. "However, I can support you with a few Cursed Items beneficial for Underwater Combat; they might be useful to you."
"Are you sure? This is deep sea territory; even underwater breathing spells only last for half an hour."
"It should be fine." Freya recalled several special pieces of information from King Cobra Legacy and confirmed again. "It should work."
"Oh, that's fine. I'll send you my exact location later, and you can send the package then," Klyent replied.
"By the way, may I borrow your library? I've been very curious about the history of Ancient Times lately," Freya stated, revealing the purpose of her contact.
"Of course, my friend. However, all my books are at my family's residence in the City of Illusions. When do you plan to go? I'll grant you access."
"When," Freya pondered her recent schedule and the current situation in Blood Eagle Territory. "I'll let you know when the time comes."
"Alright," Klyent said straightforwardly. "Contact me then. I have something to attend to; it seems that guy is chasing after me."
*Snap.*
The blue light surrounding the horn immediately dissipated as Klyent actively severed the mental link.
Freya looked at the horn in her hand in silence and quietly returned it to her waist pouch.
In Ancient Times, King Cobra's main source of food actually came from the sea. Its massive wingspan would stir up large amounts of seawater with each hunt, bringing an early rainy season to the parched land.
Therefore, Freya had quite a few methods for dealing with the Cursed Items promised to Klyent.
Finishing the remaining red tea in her cup, Freya stood up from the rattan chair and returned to the study in the villa.
On the desk in the study lay some scattered materials and ideas for improving witchcraft.
Freya swept past the desk and walked over to the bookshelf, reaching out to pull out a book with a black cover.
The cover had no text, only a circular Rune Array, with a white owl pattern in the center.
The owl's red eyes glowed faintly.
She walked to the desk with the book in hand and gently stroked the Rune Array on the cover. The previously still owl seemed to come to life, blinking its red eyes and emitting a soft "hoot."
Suddenly, the book opened.
With a rustling sound, the pages flipped open automatically, finally settling in the middle.
With a snap, the page in the center straightened abruptly and then curled up on its own, soon forming the face of a middle-aged man.
"Lady Freya, Thomas at your service. How may I assist you?"
This book was a remote communication tool, located at the Belamus Family residence in Dragon Harbor, which was her hometown.
Looking at the face formed by the pages, Freya let out a light breath and replied calmly.
"Well, how has my father been lately? How is the Mercenary group developing?"
"Lord Andrei was injured on his left hand during a recent hired battle; however, it was just a superficial wound. Currently, Lord's Mercenary group is the second largest in Dragon Harbor and received full support from Governor Claude three months ago."
"Is that so? That's great," Freya seemed to recall Baron in his silver armor riding on horseback.
After a pause, she continued to ask, "What about Eric and his child? They should be in their teens now. Can you transmit an image?"
"Lady Freya, transmitting an image requires at least five Magic Stones' worth of energy. After that, we won't be able to make contact for six months. Are you sure?"
Freya nodded. "Go ahead."
"Alright, please wait a moment."
The pages of the book slowly opened, and soon, small black particles began to appear on the smooth white pages.
These particles moved quickly as if forming some kind of image.
A minute later, an image of a young knight around twenty-five or twenty-six years old appeared in Freya's view, leading a boy of about ten.
The knight wore silver Half Armor, with a Cross Sword hanging at his waist. He stood straight and looked very capable.
His ear-length flaxen hair was tousled, and his features bore a slight resemblance to Baron in his youth.
Beside him, the boy had short light golden hair. With a slight smirk, he was dressed in brown hunting attire, and a short dagger was tucked into his black boots.
He looked somewhat clever and quirky, and his face bore a resemblance to Freya's.
"I never expected that little brat to grow up like this. It seems he's doing quite well," Freya said with a faint smile.
She reached out and gently touched the smooth pages of the book, then tore one out and placed it into a folder under her desk.
The folder already contained many images, revealing various scenes from her home.
Because of her, Dragon Harbor was well taken care of by Belamus's Apprentice Wizard, and there were hardly any significant issues.
Moreover, at Freya's request, they would not take action unless it involved a threat to her family's lives.
As long as she was alive and within Blood Eagle Territory, Baron and the others would live safely in Dragon Harbor without any harm.
After putting the contact book back on the shelf, Freya let out a light sigh and gazed out the window of her study.
Her current level was far beyond that of ordinary Barons and Eric, and even living together could expose them to energy pollution.
Otherwise, with her long lifespan as a wizard, accompanying Baron through his life wouldn't take much time at all.
This was actually one of the reasons why Freya had not returned for so long.
As she pondered this, a faint blue glow suddenly appeared between her fingers, and a Bluebird's Wizard's Mark slowly materialized.
"Lady Freya. Please gather at Headquarters Square three days from now. The Seventh Layer Abyss Subjugation Plan will commence at ten thirty in the morning."
Hearing the message from the mark, Freya raised her finger and replied solemnly.
"Alright, I understand."
She finished, lowering her right hand, a mysterious gleam flashing in her eyes.
"The Seventh Abyss has been thoroughly understood by the elite forces of the Blood Eagle Territory that infiltrated during this time. If we calculate carefully, the war has probably been going on for about this long. However, with the strength of the Seventh Abyss, I wonder if they can withstand it."
In this otherworldly conflict, many major Wizarding Organizations have had similar experiences; this marks the first cross-world war for the Blood Eagle Territory.
Moreover, this time there is support from several powerful Wizard Organizations. Unless something unexpected happens, the Seventh Abyss and its created Abyss Lord will likely face tough days ahead.
"But before that, let's take a look at the condition of that thing."
After pondering for a moment, Freya stepped out of her study, walked through the corridor, and soon arrived at a black door.
The door was covered with dense runes and Thin Lines, crisscrossing and faintly isolating something.
She paused in front of the door and gently tapped the central pattern with her hand.
With a 'hiss,' all the runes and Thin Lines instantly parted to the sides, and the door opened automatically with a 'creak.'
A faint chill emanated from behind the door.
Freya entered the room, closed the door, and looked at a massive cylindrical glass casing in the center of the room.
Inside the casing was a light green liquid, and in the middle of it was a rust-covered helmet.
She walked up to the glass column, her palm pressed against the glass.
"Hiss"
A green glow flashed within the glass enclosure, and a tall knight, Phantom, appeared inside.
The knight rode a translucent Giant Horse, wearing a fierce helmet, but his eyes were vacant, as if he had lost consciousness and stood still like an exquisite specimen.
Releasing her hand, Freya looked at the knight Phantom with an inexplicable expression.
"The Grievance and consciousness have almost completely separated. This state should belong to the purest Spirit state. Let me try to extract a bit."
After thinking for a moment, she extended her hand again. With a 'whoosh,' her entire palm suddenly ignited with a translucent flame.
The flame burned quietly, without any heat. However, when Freya's palm touched the glass enclosure, it strangely passed through.
A faint ripple spread out from the glass enclosure.
When her palm touched the knight's leg, it felt as if she were touching something solid. Then Freya gently applied pressure.
"Crack."
Half of the knight's leg was instantly broken off by her, melting into a half-Azure liquid in her hand.
Holding this substance, Freya slowly withdrew her hand and looked at the knight with the severed leg. The faint Green Liquid in the glass enclosure suddenly cleared up, and countless bubbles began to rise from the severed leg. Before long, a new leg grew back.
"After diluting the Fountain of Life countless times, I didn't expect it to still have an effect on the Spirit. It's truly amazing."
Seeing the knight return to his original state, Freya no longer asked further questions.
She walked over to a delicate Experiment Table in the room, holding the item in her hand.
The Experiment Table was black and specially customized by Freya for researching the Spirit in the Toy Room, and it was extraordinarily expensive.
Moreover, the various runes and Rune Arrays on it were all designed specifically for the Spirit.
Placing the item into a special container, Freya rubbed her hands together and drew a unique rune in the air.
After murmuring an incantation, the rune directly sank into her forehead.
Her azure eyes slightly transformed into a deep black, resembling two swirling dark vortices.
Freya looked at the transparent liquid in the container with a curious expression.
"Now then, let's see what differences exist between the soul structure of a Spirit and that of an ordinary person." (To be continued.)
