Chapter 381:
As she murmured softly, she took out several black bottles containing materials from the compartment beneath the Experiment Table and placed them on the table.
Freya gently opened one of the bottles, revealing countless black insects writhing inside. These insects rolled around, occasionally forming a face of a man in agony.
Perhaps disturbed by the air, the insects emitted a collective chirping sound, reminiscent of a human's dying scream.
Ignoring the harsh noise of the insects, Freya extended two fingers, igniting a faint transparent flame between them.
Then, she inserted her fingers into the bottle, causing all the writhing insects to boil over, scrambling away from her fingers and revealing a black sphere at the bottom.
Extracting the sphere from the bottle, Freya focused on the liquid spirit within the container.
"Let's experiment with how the spirit reacts to different substances."
Murmuring softly, she placed the sphere into the container.
With a 'pop!'
As soon as it was introduced, it was as if hot oil had been poured into water; the spirit suddenly exploded, splattering a translucent substance that immediately evaporated into the air.
A tingling sensation spread from her fingers.
Furrowing her brow, Freya withdrew the sphere and returned it to the bottle.
"It showed an extremely strong repulsion reaction to the Negative Energy Crystal right from the start. What about this one?"
She then opened the next bottle and took out some red powder, lightly adding it to the Spirit.
"Hiss."
This time, the Spirit did not react much and quickly blended into it.
"The Fire Element Crystal is fine."
Next, Freya tested all the items on the Experiment Table and came to a conclusion.
The Spirit, aside from having a violent reaction to Negative Energy and Positive Energy, had little effect on anything else. In other words, the Spirit had a strong immunity to pure energy manipulation spells. Of course, physical spell attacks were also ineffective.
Moreover, compared to pure souls, it seemed to have an indirect ability to transform into a physical form.
Holding the Feather Pen, Freya recorded the experiment and its reactions in her notes.
After a long while, she set down her notes and carefully put away the experimental materials before turning her attention to the Spirit, which had been consumed by one-third.
"According to the research on Spirit by other wizards, the so-called Spirit is merely a higher form of energy life, a product entangled with Grievance and will, having no relation to the Spirit's past life. However, it seems that this inference is not entirely correct; at least this Spirit Knight possesses most of its previous memories. It once encountered something in ancient ruins with the King Cobra Legacy, which seems to belong to a type of Spirit as well. Yet these two types of Spirits have different natures—why is that?"
Freya rested her chin on her palm, gazing thoughtfully at the Spirit in the container.
Recalling the multiple Spirit incidents she had experienced, she felt that Spirits seemed to have various types.
The Dawn Level represented a stage of soul transformation. According to all wizards who reached the Dawn Level, even if their bodies died, they could survive for a period solely through their souls. As long as they found a suitable body, they could be resurrected.
This form of existence, which survives through the soul, is very similar to a Spirit, and some bold wizards have speculated that the two may be the same life form.
"The different nature of this transformation of the Spirit may be related to one's experiences in life or their level of existence. Most ordinary people who become Spirits possess very little intelligence, and their physical transformation is not very thorough, only partial. However, some wizards or other special beings who become Spirits after death retain some memories from their previous lives and possess high intelligence. So how is this special transformation achieved?"
Strange questions emerged in Freya's mind.
The increase in mental power, the elevation of life levels, and even the metamorphosis of the soul—these main issues seemed to hint at something Freya was beginning to grasp.
She was currently at the Third Peak, having already attained the final layer of Winds of Oblivion.
"The information on the fourth layer of Winds of Oblivion mentions that to reach the Dawn Level, one must condense their first strand of soul light to obtain their fundamental power, which is essentially the domain power of the Dawn Level."
Freya silently opened her palm slightly, and a faint Azure Wind Flow mixed with mist appeared in her hand. It resembled a much smaller deep vortex, from which the sounds of wind and rain could faintly be heard.
At the very center of this vortex, a faint green light flickered, emanating vibrant life from within.
"The first form condensation of King Cobra granted me the power of life and control over air, while my inherent attribute is wind. My Meditation Method has also been aligned with this attribute all along. So, could it be that by merging these three powers together, I could stimulate the soul or fundamental power?"
Suddenly, while she was deep in thought, a subtle sound emerged from the Experiment Table.
Snapping back to reality, Freya looked at the Experiment Table and noticed that the Spirit contained in a vessel had unexpectedly turned black during her contemplation.
The top of the vessel seemed to be shrouded in thick black mist, which slowly overflowed from the container like flowing water onto the Experiment Table.
However, it was neutralized by the Rune Array above the Experiment Table.
This situation caused Freya to pause slightly, as she vaguely heard a faint roar, as if it were coming from a very distant place.
'Lord of Death, Desecration'
"Oh? Has the will automatically recovered? The stripped part can actually form an individual?" Seeing the rolling black mist, Freya showed a curious expression. "It's just like some special plant seeds."
After a moment, she dissipated the vortex in her hand, and then a blazing light rose up like a ball of golden flame.
The black mist quickly dissolved upon contact with the flame, causing even the Spirit in the container to churn.
Before long, everything disappeared completely.
"However, such a simple Positive Energy spell can destroy this level; the gap with the main body is too great."
After putting away the flame in her hand and cleaning up the items on the Experiment Table, she left the laboratory.
Freya seemed to have found some ideas during her earlier contemplation regarding the promotion to Dawn Wizard and how to facilitate the transformation of souls.
However, that was merely a rough concept; she still needed some data and information to confirm it.
...
Three days later.
The vast square of the Blood Eagle Territory Headquarters was filled with neatly arranged Blood Eagle Territory troops. Countless Crimson Giant Eagles soared in the sky, swirling and waiting like a massive red vortex.
Beside the vortex formed by the Red Eagles, enormous Black Airships floated silently on either side, resembling black whales. Next to the black vessels, dozens of slender white Airships flew gracefully.
The underside of the massive Airships was covered with dense cannon ports and intricate Rune Arrays.
A strong sense of oppression filled the entire Blood Eagle Territory with a heavy and solemn atmosphere.
The Black Airships were crowded with wizards dressed in black Red Robes.
A gentle breeze brushed against Freya's cheek as she stood at the Gunwale of the Airship, her gaze fixed on the distant sky as if waiting for something.
On either side of her were Seth and other mid-level personnel from the Rune Department, while at the bow of the Airship stood two Vice Ministers.
Suddenly, a faint golden lightning flashed in the air.
Seth squinted slightly and said, "The people over there have signaled. Look, it's about to begin."
Without speaking, Freya nodded indifferently.
Suddenly, a Silver-Haired Elder dressed in a Red Robe flew into the sky, taking out something and tossing it into the air.
"Bang!!!"
A thunderous explosion echoed suddenly.
"Rip!"
An empty space abruptly revealed a large, semi-transparent red door.
The door was massive, wide enough to fit two Black Airships side by side, covered in densely packed runes and patterns that glimmered with a faint red light.
"All units, prepare!!" A booming voice resonated from the sky. "Move out!!"
"Clang!!"
The red door swung open. The crimson void beyond the door instantly came into view for everyone.
The Crimson Eagle Vortex spun in the air, emitting a piercing scream as it rushed into the door like a torrent, followed by a burst of light that tore through the space.
The enormous Black Airship, along with smaller white Airships surrounding it, began to slowly fly towards the door.
Inside, the hot whirlwind caused Freya's Robe to flutter loudly as she turned to look back at the Azure Sky.
There, flying elemental beings of wind and fire swarmed forth like tiny insects, entering the World Gate alongside the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit.
In a daze, the Azure Sky faintly transformed into Crimson, a scorching sensation surged from all directions.
Below the Airship, numerous Strange Creatures roared as they collided with Elemental Creatures, occasionally producing intense rumbling explosions.
Among these monsters stood Red Giants clad in tattered armor on the ground. They raised their black Wolf Fang Clubs and bared their massive jaws, unleashing furious roars into the air.
"Annihilate the scum of the Wizarding World!!!"
"Abyss World, Eternity!!"
"Damn it! You will pay for this!"
In the sky, countless Flying Monsters with bat wings screeched in a cacophony as they clashed with the Guardianship Force, a foul-smelling rain of blood pouring down from above.
Standing on the deck of the Airship, Freya took a deep breath, revealing a hint of intoxication.
"This is war; how beautiful it is."
In her eyes, these creatures appeared as food to her, exuding a rich Bloodline scent.
"Huh?" Suddenly, she snapped back to reality. "Why am I having such thoughts? Am I infected by the chaotic power of the Abyss World?"
At the bow of the ship, two Deputy Directors turned around after observing.
The Melong Minister cast a glance at Freya and the others, pausing briefly before speaking in a deep voice.
“Rune Department everyone, get ready! Light Prism Tower, begin!”
With her command, everyone took out a white cylindrical object and began to chant the activation spell.
As Freya recited the spell, the object in her hand suddenly trembled as if drawn by an unseen force.
“Launch!!”
‘Whoosh!’
All the cylindrical objects flew out of their hands into the air.
At this moment, Meilong was holding a white crystal that emitted a strong white light. Inside, a faint triangular rune could be seen; this was the latest Controller developed by the Rune Department, cleverly designed for portability.
This war also served as a test for this new product.
She held the Controller in her hand and murmured a complex incantation.
‘Zizz’
All the launched cylinders seemed to be attracted, rapidly changing and spreading out before converging together continuously.
The sounds of ‘clack, clack’ echoed as they combined.
Before long, enormous pure white pillars suddenly appeared in the sky.
The pillars plunged fiercely into the parched ground, appearing completely random.
There were more than ten white pillars, slowly radiating a Blazing White light.
Some nearby monsters were directly blinded, their eyes emitting black smoke as they wailed and collapsed to the ground.
"All Runes Department Wizards! Take out your Controllers! Gather around me, at one o'clock! Prepare!"
Meilong raised the rune Controller in her hand, while the other wizards took out their own Controllers, a faint White Light merging together and enveloping her hand.
Suddenly, a translucent Arrow appeared in front of the Black Airship.
"Fire!!"
With a hiss, all the white pillars lit up with a blinding white light, then converged at a point, shooting towards the direction indicated by Meilong.
A piercing sound came from that direction as the white light sliced through the earth like a white sword.
All Abyssal Creatures and Elemental Creatures in that direction evaporated simultaneously; even the seemingly powerful Red Giant turned to countless ashes when engulfed by the light.
The light vanished, leaving a deep chasm in the earth, with translucent Sulfur Crystals scattered around it, surrounded by emptiness.
The seemingly fierce Abyssal monsters appeared stunned by this turn of events, while some clever creatures began to quietly retreat using their companions as cover.
Standing on the Airship, Freya put away her Controller and gazed at the white pillar below.
At this moment, various crystalline formations appeared around the pillar, a phenomenon caused by extreme temperatures.
The Light Prism Tower seemed impressive, but it had a long cooldown period; each launch required at least an hour before the next attack could be initiated. Otherwise, it would explode due to overuse.
From Freya's perspective, this newly developed weapon's power was already comparable to that of Dawn Level single-target spells.
The chaos below continued unabated. In the Lower World, the assault from Blood Eagle Territory was nothing short of overwhelming.
The strongest beings were at most Second-Level Wizard tier, while many others were merely apprentices.
However, just as the Blood Eagle Territory forces were slaughtering Abyssal Creatures en masse, a patch of pitch-black clouds suddenly appeared in the crimson sky, plunging the entire area into darkness. (To be continued.)
