Chapter Three Hundred Eighty-Two:
"Quack! Quack!!"
A faint, chaotic sound came from the distant sky. Standing on the Airship, Freya squinted her eyes slightly, her azure pupils veiled with a light green glow.
Through the eyes of the King Cobra, she clearly saw the darkened sky where massive black flying dragons with two heads flapped their enormous flesh wings as they flew toward her.
Each dragon was ridden by a humanoid creature covered in Tentacles, each holding a crimson Steel Fork in hand.
Due to their overwhelming numbers, they created an illusion of darkness spreading across the sky.
Suddenly, Freya's expression stiffened.
'Boom!!!'
A sudden muffled sound echoed as a red flash erupted from the dark outer edges of the distance.
A large number of Crimson Steel Forks swooshed through the air like a dense curtain of red rain.
The Guardians' Wizards at the forefront had no time to react before being skewered and falling to the ground along with their giant eagle companions and Abyssal Creatures.
This rain of Steel Forks was a indiscriminate attack, seemingly without regard for what it pierced.
'Clink clink clink'
A faint sound came from above the Black Airship, as a semi-transparent Azure shield firmly resisted the attacks of the Steel Forks.
Ripples continuously spread across the surface of the shield, resembling water waves.
"Damn it! It's Buckley's Abyss Dragon; it actually came out early!!"
Standing next to Meilong, Edward, Deputy Minister, who had remained silent, suddenly turned serious.
"The Abyss Dragon has absurdly high physical and magical resistance. However, the number of them is a bit strange," Meilong thought with a hint of worry.
"Should we activate the Star Sword?"
"No." Meilong gently shook his head. "We only brought three Star Swords this time. It would be a waste to launch one here. For this decapitation mission assigned to us by the Rune Department, I believe the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit will have a way to handle it!"
While the two Deputy Directors conversed, the other wizards from the Rune Department looked pale as they watched the Steel Forks being hurled from the sky.
Despite having great confidence in their Airship's defenses, facing such close-range attacks still instilled a sense of fear and trepidation.
However, Freya quickly regained her composure after a brief moment of surprise.
To her eyes, each of these Steel Forks was merely at the peak level of First-Level Wizard's piercing technique; although numerous, they were not enough to cause the elite forces of Blood Eagle Territory to collapse.
Soon, the mass of Abyss Dragons in the air clashed with the wizards at the forefront.
The Abyss Dragon was twice the size of a giant eagle, with sharp fangs and claws; ordinary magic could not penetrate its scales or those of the humanoid creatures on its body.
Before long, large giant eagles were heavily injured or torn apart, falling one after another.
This caused various Abyssal Creatures underground to erupt in joyful roars.
A Red Giant wielding a pitch-black Wolf Fang Club grabbed a giant eagle with its wings torn apart, trying to struggle. Then, the Wolf Fang Club swung down fiercely.
"Bang!!"
The giant eagle exploded into scattered flesh and blood. The bright red eagle's blood made the giant's skin appear even more vibrant.
"Roar!!!"
Stimulated by the bloodshed, the giant raised the Wolf Fang Club and let out a roar.
However, before it could do anything else, the air suddenly darkened.
"Swish!"
A sharp, massive leg pierced the giant from head to toe.
A Flame Spider, towering over a hundred meters high, slowly raised its head, its numerous spider eyes fixated on the rampaging Abyss Dragon in the sky.
Atop the spider's head stood a Wizard dressed in a Red Robe, with his face covered in dense patterns.
The Wizard was submerged from the waist down into the body of the spider, as if he had merged with the Flame Spider.
Without any prelude, several spiny legs of the Flame Spider suddenly kicked off.
"Whoosh!!"
The Flame Spider actually soared into the air, and immediately, a crackling sound echoed from the Abyss Dragon's vicinity.
In addition to the appearance of this giant Flame Spider, on the other side of the battlefield, a Young Wizard with long hair interspersed with black and purple slowly stepped onto the battlefield.
He squinted his eyes as he scanned the chaotic scene, a slight smirk appearing on his lips, revealing teeth that resembled those of a crocodile.
"Hiss."
He raised his index finger, his tone carrying a hint of special excitement.
"Area Three, Isaac has arrived."
"Good, let's get started. Don't embarrass our Crimson Eagle Guard Unit."
"Of course."
As soon as he finished speaking, flames erupted around him in large swathes of Red Flame.
Amidst the burning fire, his figure gradually vanished, and then a massive red Ferocious Crocodile suddenly burst forth from the flames.
Its enormous body crashed down with a thunderous sound, kicking up large amounts of reddish-brown soil, while its Crimson claws directly trampled numerous monsters beneath it into pulp.
The seemingly massive Red Giant could only barely reach the legs of the Sand Crocodile beneath it.
"Boom!!!"
Suddenly, the ground around the Sand Crocodile sank, and the red earth seemed to transform into quicksand in an instant. The Abyssal Cannon Fodder had no chance to escape and were all buried.
Similar scenes unfolded in other battle zones.
For a moment, the entire battlefield appeared to be a stage for various monsters.
In the air alone, dozens of gigantic creatures and dense Abyss Dragons were engaged in fierce combat.
These Abyss Dragons relentlessly tore at the massive beings formed by the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit. Although they sustained injuries, it hardly mattered to the numerous Abyss Dragons that were being shot down.
"Third Peak, Crimson Eagle Guard Unit?" Freya observed as one Bloodline Sorceress after another emerged.
This was the most elite Crimson Eagle Guard Unit created by the Elder Council and the Grand Elder in the Blood Eagle Territory. While it could not be compared to the Intelligence Department or other secret organizations in certain aspects, it was undoubtedly one of the most notable forces in Sky City and even throughout Cloud City.
They had gained power at the cost of abandoning their ascension to Dawn Level. Just like what she had experienced with Nick, it was utterly meaningless.
"Thud!"
From the ground, black Tentacles or hidden Abyssal Creatures were pulled out by the Guardians' Wizard, torn apart and thrown to the ground.
Gradually, the monsters of the Seventh Abyss World began to collapse, and the once formidable Abyss Dragons in the sky slowly roared as they spewed thick black corrosive liquid.
However, soon more and stronger Abyssal Creatures joined the fray, intensifying the battlefield.
Countless Fierce Creatures, burning with Black-Red Flames, crawled out from the ground. They stood only as tall as an average person, but were surrounded by a crimson halo that extended hundreds of meters. Any creature that came into contact with these halos melted away.
Large numbers of Elemental Creatures summoned into the fray quickly vanished like bubbles, reverting back to pure Energy Particles.
At this moment, the Black Airship and the slender White Airships around it periodically unleashed beams of crimson energy to eliminate the Abyssal Creatures below.
However, just as parts of the Blood Eagle Territory were slowly crushing and slaughtering the Abyssal Creatures, a massive black vortex gradually emerged in the blood-red sky. An inexplicable aura suddenly caused the atmosphere of the entire battlefield to freeze.
It felt as if something was pressing down from nowhere.
All the wizards of the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit seemed to receive some kind of command. They began to stop their attacks, retreating while maintaining their defenses.
Meanwhile, all the wizards on the Airship and those behind it simultaneously looked up at the enormous vortex in the sky.
‘Hiss!’
The spinning vortex abruptly halted. Then, a Black Giant over a hundred meters tall suddenly appeared.
The giant had two thick ram-like horns spiraling from its head, flaming Wings on its back, and a mouth that nearly occupied half its face, revealing interlocking Fangs.
Its black skin was covered in red cracks, within which flowed a golden liquid.
Wings slowly flapped in the air, and the temperature on the battlefield seemed to rise by several degrees after the giant appeared, with specks of black dust floating in the air.
"Those who dare to invade my Abyss World, face my wrath!!"
The giant extended its hand, and a massive sword engulfed in black flames slowly materialized, lifting slightly.
Around it, Black Serpent-Like Creatures began to emerge.
"Burn!!!"
It swung the giant sword violently.
The ground suddenly erupted with pillars of black fire. A Guardians' Wizard resembling a Lizard accidentally stepped onto one of the fire pillars and was instantly engulfed in flames, red cracks spreading across its body until it turned into a cloud of black dust.
Seeing this scene, Freya's pupils slightly contracted.
"This is Abyss Lord at Third Peak in an instant?"
"No," Seth, who heard her murmur, replied solemnly. "This is the form of the Abyss Flame Demon. If the information is correct, this is Buckley's first son, a demon whose strength is closest to that of an Abyss Lord."
"Is that so?" Freya's eyes occasionally flashed with an inexplicable light, her thoughts unclear.
"Yes, but beings of this level usually have specific combat strategies. The Vice Minister will likely issue orders soon."
Just as Seth finished speaking, the Airship, which had been quietly hovering in the air, began to slowly retreat.
All remaining Red Eagles and low-level Elemental Creatures quickly retreated from the battlefield.
The ground cracked open, flames continuously spewing forth, while beneath the surface, a torrent of red lava flowed, consuming everything in its path.
Suddenly, the Black Serpent-Like Creatures surged forward, rapidly flying toward the battlefield.
The giant also descended directly into the fray, as several Guardians' Wizards transformed into massive creatures and lunged at it.
The roaring sound of explosions echoed intermittently.
The giant swung its sword to strike an Insect Wizard with sharp horns on its head. Suddenly, it reached out and grabbed a massive black panther that was relentlessly clawing at its Wings from behind.
With a 'whoosh!'
A ring of black flames ignited on the panther's body, and then with a fierce toss, the burning giant creature shot upward like a black meteor, trailing a long tail of fire as it crashed toward the wizard troops behind.
With a 'swoosh—'
All the wizards caught in the flames instantly turned to ash, creating a vacuum zone amidst the sea of fire.
This Infernal Giant seemed unstoppable; to it, an ordinary Third-Rank Wizard was merely a minor inconvenience.
Before long, two more wizards from the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit were torn apart and violently slammed to the ground, appearing to be beyond saving.
The giant's Wings unfurled behind it, suddenly taking flight again. The black giant sword in its hand glowed slightly before it swung downwards.
"Soul Annihilation!!"
'Sizzle!!'
A black pillar of fire sliced directly towards the Airship where Freya was located.
However, just as the flame that could burn everything was about to strike the Airship, with a 'bang', a massive hand engulfed in flames suddenly grasped the pillar.
Then, it crushed it effortlessly.
Above the Airship, an old man dressed in a Red Robe with Silver Hair and a cold expression appeared out of nowhere.
"That's the Second Elder."
Someone whispered quietly.
Immediately, the newly appeared Second Elder transformed into a ball of fire and vanished, reappearing right in front of the giant.
After a ripple, a transparent wave suddenly exploded above the giant's head.
'Boom!!!'
'Crack!'
The entire body of the giant plummeted down with a howling wind.
On the Airship, the two ministers, Meilong and Edward, exchanged glances and nodded slightly.
At the same time, both took out a white Sphere. With a crack, they crushed it and opened their hands, murmuring incantations.
All the Airships shifted slightly, forming a triangular formation.
Two white chains of light connected more than a dozen Airships together.
As if sensing something, Freya looked up towards the back. At the top of the Airship, a tall Triangle Tower was surrounded by flickering white lights.
Each light was only the size of a fist, but she could clearly sense the immense energy contained within them.
"What is this?" Looking at the Triangle Tower gathering energy, Freya frowned slightly. Deep down, she felt an inexplicable sense of crisis.
This was the first time she had such a feeling since condensing her first form.
Even the giant's fire pillar did not evoke this kind of response.
Ding.
A sound resembling metal clashing echoed as a massive Rune Array slowly appeared in front of the topmost Airship.
Standing on the deck, Freya could even see the intricate patterns of runes on this gigantic Rune Array.
With the control of the two ministers, the enormous Rune Array began to rotate slowly.
Countless light spots quickly converged on the Rune Array, causing it to continuously overlap as if pulling out a slender white passage behind the Rune Array.
Freya felt as if all the Energy Particles in the air had suddenly vanished.
A heavy sensation emanated from her body.
She turned to look at the surrounding wizards and noticed that their faces were faintly pale.
Hiss.
The white passage suddenly illuminated with a dark red glow, and the Rune Array began to move slightly, as if adjusting its position.
Whoosh!
In an instant, the passage disappeared, and then Freya felt a tremor around her, followed by dozens of Airships abruptly retreating.
The Silver Defense Shield that had come to a halt suddenly brightened, and then a wave of white energy erupted. (To be continued…)
