Chapter Three Hundred Eighty-Five: 0

From the powerful spiritual aura surrounding Shirley, she could clearly sense her third-tier level. 0

However, a strange light flashed in Freya's eyes, for she had discovered something else from Shirley. 0

It was a black tentacle, tightly adhering to Shirley's back. 0

"I only recently managed to advance successfully, thanks to the help of my lord." Shirley's face showed a hint of gratitude as she did not notice the unusual expression in Freya's eyes. 0

Perhaps it was the noise from the bustling streets that prompted Shirley to continue. 0

"Alright, enough of this. Let's go; we should rest at my place for a bit. It seems you've been through quite a lot on your journey." 0

She noticed the thick layer of snow piled on top of Freya's carriage. 0

"Yes, that would be great. Thank you." Freya nodded. 0

The Silver Carriage turned around and headed back the way they came, while Freya lightly snapped her fingers, and two Dwarf Horses immediately followed closely behind. 0

Passing through several noisy streets, under the guidance of the Silver Carriage, the two carriages soon drove into a White Manor. 0

The manor appeared exquisitely crafted, with only three stories. 0

Despite the harsh cold, some green plants were surprisingly growing on the rooftop. 0

As the two carriages passed through the black iron gate... 0

Bang, bang, bang. 0

Amidst the dull sounds, a massive figure came rushing over. 0

It was a White Great Dog standing over two meters tall, its strong body exuding a sense of weightiness. Its snow-white fur rippled as it ran, causing the ground to tremble slightly beneath it, creating an impressive presence. 0

Surprisingly, its aura was close to that of a wizard, but Freya felt no hostility from this large dog. 0

Just as she was curious about what the big dog intended to do, it suddenly darted around Freya's carriage. With a loud 'thud', its front paw landed directly on Shirley's carriage, and it extended its Crimson tongue, making a panting sound. 0

The carriage door swung open. As soon as Shirley poked her head out, she was immediately greeted by the dog's affectionate licking. 0

Quickly trying to escape the dog's enthusiastic assault, Shirley glanced awkwardly at the speechless Freya and explained, "This is Viru, a fellow I picked up in the Snowy Pine Forest some time ago." 0

Before she could finish her sentence, another enormous creature came charging from the other side of the estate—a gigantic Green Rhino. 0

Following the Rhinoceros were many other unusually large creatures. 0

The rumbling noise sounded almost like an earthquake. 0

Three-headed Silver-Eyed Birds, a Vitreous Ice Wolf with a tail that whipped like a Fire Serpent, dozens of swiftly flying Swift Stinger Bees, and a whole host of formidable creatures that even Freya couldn't name surrounded Shirley. 0

The towering shadows nearly engulfed the Silver Carriage. 0

The Wizard driving the carriage seemed to be quite accustomed to the situation, skillfully maneuvering the carriage to break free from the encirclement. 0

At this moment, Shirley was surrounded by various large creatures. A few black Cross Black Swallows perched on her shoulders and head, while several oddly shaped beings rested at her feet, with a few Stinging Bees buzzing around her. 0

Shirley looked at Freya with increasing embarrassment. 0

"Uh, why don't you wait for me in the hall for a bit? I'll join you shortly." 0

"Alright then." 0

Freya shook her head slightly and jumped down from the carriage, following a servant toward the estate. 0

She had heard before that wizards specializing in biological magic had a strong affinity for creatures, but Shirley's situation was still a bit exaggerated. 0

Just earlier, through Freya's senses, she had even detected several creatures that appeared gentle but were actually quite formidable. 0

They were almost at the level of Second-Grade Peak. 0

Having witnessed Shirley's combat style before, Freya knew it involved utilizing these Magical Pets. 0

Upon entering the estate, Freya waited in the living room for about five or six minutes before Shirley walked in from outside. 0

She took off her black Robe and hung it on a nearby coat rack. 0

The heater in the living room crackled occasionally, making the entire room feel very comfortable. 0

"So, how's the climate here? Is it suitable for you?" Shirley smiled as she sat down on the sofa opposite Freya. 0

Between the two of them was a table, on which sat two cups of translucent beverages. 0

"Not bad," Freya said with a smile. "And the air quality here is much cleaner than in Sky City. You know, the energy pollution there is severe due to all the experiments conducted by the wizards." 0

"As long as you like it. Once I finish my business here, we can head back to the family." 0

"I'm not in a hurry for that," Freya replied, glancing at the tentacles still lingering behind Shirley. She took a sip from her drink. 0

"By the way, what are you handling here? Is this city also part of the Klyent Family's territory?" 0

"It's just some conflicts with certain organizations. Why, are you interested in joining?" Shirley smiled. 0

"Oh? Is that possible?" Freya was taken aback. "Wouldn't it be inconvenient?" 0

"It's just one matter," Shirley said casually. "If I hadn't heard you were coming here, I wouldn't have come by." 0

"Hmm." Freya smiled noncommittally. 0

Regarding Klyent, although they were essentially in a cooperative relationship with Freya, there was still some goodwill. 0

Especially in certain aspects, the help Klyent provided to Freya far exceeded what she had given in return. 0

Now, the black tentacle on Shirley was clearly a very concealed and malicious curse that might erupt in a day or two. 0

What would happen then was anyone's guess. 0

Seeing this now, Freya didn't mind doing Shirley a favor; after all, this wizard specialized in biology and had far greater expertise in ancient creatures than she did. 0

There were many questions she wanted to ask the other party. 0

After a brief chat in the living room, Shirley left for an errand. 0

Freya wanted to understand the specific layout of the City of Illusions, so she asked a Maid to take her to the library of the estate. 0

Following the Maid, Freya ascended the spiral staircase and arrived at a door on the second floor. 0

The Maid took out a brass key from her waist and inserted it into the lock, gently turning it. 0

With a click, the door opened. 0

The Maid stepped aside and gave a slight bow. 0

"Milady, I will be outside. If you have any instructions, just call for me." 0

"Mm." 0

Freya nodded expressionlessly and walked directly into the room. 0

At the top of the room was a round crystal about the size of a human head, emitting a soft white light. 0

She glanced around the library, which had only two bookshelves neatly arranged with various books. 0

However, it seemed that Shirley did not often come here. Although it was clean and tidy, there were no signs of having been disturbed. 0

Walking to one of the bookshelves, she casually looked around and found that most of the books were poetry collections, with not many substantial works. 0

On the second shelf, there were some basic books on Apprentice Wizard knowledge. 0

After searching for a while, Freya finally found a thick book about history in the corner. 0

The book was written around three hundred years ago and looked relatively new. 0

After flipping through it, Freya quickly found what she was looking for. 0

Compared to the order of Sky City, the layout of the City of Illusions was much more chaotic. This history book mainly recorded various significant battles and the rise and fall of different Wizard Organizations. 0

The wizards from the Underworld, the nearby Sea Tribe, and various mutants from the famous Tersnibela Mountains were all factors that contributed to the conflicts. 0

However, what surprised Freya was that the name of the Klyent Family occasionally appeared in several well-known battles. 0

The Klyent family was located in the northern part of the City of Illusions, in the Northern Snowfield. Although it was far from the Sea Tribe and Tersnibela Mountains, there were several large fissures leading to the Underworld. 0

Wizards from the Underworld often raided and plundered in the Northern Snowfield for various reasons. 0

Moreover, besides these occasional underground invasions, some formidable underground creatures would also appear from time to time. 0

Thus, the harsh environment of the Northern Snowfield was not peaceful either. 0

Closing the book, Freya frowned slightly. 0

"No wonder those Klyent folks are so powerful; there must be a reason for it." 0

Her current location was on the northern border of the City of Illusions. Although she had not yet reached the Northern Snowfield, she was not far off. 0

It is only a few hundred kilometers away, and it would take about two days by carriage to reach there. 0

From the information in this history book, Freya has vaguely guessed that Klyent's family seems to be an ancient family with Bloodline heritage. 0

Otherwise, even if they were not an ancient family, Klyent's usual generous demeanor suggests they would not be lacking in status. 0

"What I don't know is what kind of trouble Shirley is facing that allows a hidden curse to be placed on a Third-Rank Wizard. It seems things are not as simple as they appear," Freya narrowed her eyes, beginning to formulate her next plans. 0

... 0

The morning after the second day. 0

In the biting cold wind, two silver carriages quickly drove out of Shirley's estate. 0

In the front carriage, Shirley was taking out some red fruits to feed a Cross Black Swallow perched on her shoulder. 0

The Black Swallow's narrow eyes were occasionally alertly watching Freya across from her, its tail feathers slightly spread, as if ready to take flight at any moment. 0

Sensing the Black Swallow's inexplicable tension, Shirley frowned slightly, put down the fruit in her hand, and opened the carriage window to let the Black Swallow fly out for patrol. 0

Freya slowly opened her eyes from meditation. A hint of light green flashed in her blue eyes, very subtle. 0

Glancing at the Black Swallow that had already turned into a black dot in the distance, Freya spoke up. 0

"So, your visit this time is mainly because an organization called Silent Night killed one of your apprentices?" 0

"That's right," Shirley yawned and rubbed her forehead. "However, that apprentice's identity is quite sensitive; he is one of the many sons of another Wizard Organization leader who came to our family as an exchange student." 0

"Is that so?" 0

Freya could also guess the relationship involved. If the Klyent Family did not take action, it would be impossible for that organization to get through; at the very least, they would have to sacrifice a few people. 0

However, when she saw Shirley's increasingly fatigued expression, she felt a stir in her heart and spoke in a calm tone. 0

"You look a bit unwell. Did you not rest well last night?" 0

"Um," Shirley couldn't help but yawn, frowning as she replied. "Maybe. I'm just a bit tired and can't muster any energy." 0

"Is that so? You might just be too exhausted." Freya's eyes subtly glimmered with a green light, and her voice became unusually gentle. "If you're tired, you should rest. I'll wake you when we arrive." 0

Perhaps she was indeed a bit sleepy; Shirley rubbed her eyes and surprisingly did not refuse. 0

"Thanks." 0

After she finished speaking, she directly laid her head down on the table and fell asleep. In no time, her even breathing could be heard. 0

Watching Shirley completely enter a state of sleep, Freya reached out her hand to shake her but received no response. Satisfied, she nodded. 0

With the power of the King Cobra combined with her mental energy contamination, it was enough to put Shirley into an unguarded deep sleep for ten minutes. 0

Looking at the black tentacles on Shirley's back that seemed to have swollen considerably, Freya paused for a moment before reaching out her right hand toward those tentacles. 0

"Hiss." 0

Just as she touched Shirley's back, a sudden green shadow lunged at Freya to bite her. 0

"Snap!" 0

Although her finger was bitten, it was not injured. Freya frowned slightly and saw a huge green caterpillar wrapped around Shirley, as thick as an adult's arm. 0

The caterpillar's two mandibles were fiercely biting into her palm. 0

This made Freya's gaze turn cold, and a hint of King Cobra's aura leaked out. 0

"Guardian Beast, get away!!" 0

As if sensing the aura emitted by King Cobra, the caterpillar stiffened, its amber eyes showing a human-like fear. However, it still curled up on Shirley without choosing to leave. 0

Ignoring the stubbornness of the guardian beast, Freya reached out her hand again and quickly grabbed the black tentacles, pulling hard. 0

"Zing!" 0

A chaotic and piercing sound came from the tentacles, which were deeply embedded in Shirley's body. 0

As if sensing something, the sleeping Shirley's face turned pale, and her brows gradually furrowed. 0

"Huh?" 0

Feeling the force of the tentacles, Freya narrowed her eyes. 0

With a 'whoosh,' her palm ignited with a translucent flame. 0

The flame had no temperature but caused the tentacles to splatter large amounts of black spots, and a chilling aura emanated from them, hinting that something was trying to emerge from within the tentacles. 0

"Hmph!" 0

Feeling the strength of the Tentacles weaken, Freya let out a cold snort and suddenly pulled. 0

"Smack!" 0

A translucent black furball the size of a human head fell to the ground, surrounded by tightly coiled Tentacles, with a distinct black-and-white Wide-eyed gaze that looked at Freya with a malicious expression. 0

"Oh? Have you noticed me?" 0

Looking at the appearance of the black furball, Freya clearly sensed a faint mental connection still attached to it, seemingly from a wizard casting a curse. 0

However, Freya was completely unconcerned about this and directly raised her foot to step down. (To be continued.) 0
