"Boom!"
With a loud crash, a massive rock in the center of the path suddenly collapsed, sending debris rolling down the cliff and creating echoes.
"This is bad, there's an ambush!" Professor Zhang's expression changed drastically as he whispered urgently.
Lin Fan looked around and saw shadows flickering in the mist; countless figures gradually emerged from the fog, surrounding them completely.
"Bastards, I've finally caught up with you!"
A rough voice came from the crowd. Lin Fan turned to see Wang Qiang holding a modified shotgun, accompanied by several members of the Anti-Zombie Organization, grinning maliciously as they approached.
Behind Wang Qiang, a member was carrying an exaggeratedly large net gun, its dark muzzle glinting ominously, clearly designed specifically to deal with Xiao Tang.
"Run!"
Lin Fan made a quick decision, grabbing Xiao Tang and turning to flee.
However, their escape routes were blocked on all sides; there was no way out!
"Bang!"
Wang Qiang pulled the trigger, and a specially made tranquilizer dart whistled through the air towards Xiao Tang.
" Xiao Tang, watch out!"
In a split second, Lin Fan threw himself at Xiao Tang, using his body to shield her from the tranquilizer dart.
"Thud!"
The dart hit Lin Fan's shoulder, and he let out a muffled groan as he felt half of his body go numb instantly.
"Brother Lin Fan!"
Xiao Tang exclaimed in shock, her eyes instantly reddening. She struggled to help Lin Fan up but was pushed away by him.
"Go! Don't worry about me!"
Lin Fan shouted hoarsely, blood staining his clothes.
Xiao Tang was stunned; she couldn't understand why Lin Fan would risk his life to protect her when they had only just met.
"Roar..."
Seeing Lin Fan lying in a pool of blood, Xiao Tang let out a furious roar, her eyes flashing with an unprecedented ferocity.
"Quick, grab her! Don't let her escape!"
Wang Qiang commanded loudly, clearly startled by Xiao Tang's reaction.
Several members of the Anti-Zombie Organization rushed forward, attempting to ensnare Xiao Tang with the net gun.
However, they underestimated Xiao Tang's strength.
In a flash, Xiao Tang vanished from her spot and reappeared right in front of Wang Qiang.
"Bang!"
The trigger of the net gun was pulled, and the massive metal net whistled through the air to envelop Xiao Tang.
"Hahaha, got you!"
Wang Qiang laughed triumphantly, his face filled with pride.
However, his smile quickly froze on his face.
The metal net remained motionless; Xiao Tang stood within it completely unharmed.
"This... how is this possible?!"
Wang Qiang stared in disbelief, his eyes wide open. He had never seen such a powerful Zombie before!
Xiao Tang slowly raised her hand, her slender fingers gently waving.
"Boom!"
The massive metal net was instantly torn into pieces, scattering everywhere.
"Run!"
Wang Qiang was terrified and turned to flee.
But it was already too late.
Xiao Tang's figure appeared behind him like a ghost, her slender arm swinging fiercely.
"Bang!"
Wang Qiang let out a scream as he flew out like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily onto the ground several meters away, his life uncertain.
"Roar..."
Xiao Tang let out another furious roar, turning around to sweep her crimson gaze over everyone present.
The members of the Anti-Zombie Organization had never witnessed such a terrifying scene; they were so frightened that their hearts nearly stopped. They dropped their weapons and scrambled away into the mist.
In an instant, the encirclement was shattered.
Xiao Tang walked over to Lin Fan, gently picked him up, and then without looking back, entered the depths of the mist.
The mist rolled and quickly swallowed their figures.
Professor Zhang stood in place, watching the direction they disappeared with a face full of shock and relief.
" Xiao Tang... she has awakened..."
He murmured to himself, his tone filled with complex emotions.
...
"Lin Fan brother, wake up..."
In a daze, Lin Fan heard Xiao Tang's anxious call by his ear.
He struggled to open his eyes and found himself lying on a soft patch of grass, his injuries having been simply treated.
" Xiao Tang, did you save me?"
Lin Fan sat up with difficulty and looked at Xiao Tang in front of him, asking.
Xiao Tang nodded, tears still lingering in her eyes.
"What about those people?"
Lin Fan looked around but saw no sign of Wang Qiang and the others.
"They all ran away because I scared them."
Xiao Tang lowered her head and said softly.
"Scared them?"
Lin Fan found it hard to believe; he had witnessed Wang Qiang's strength firsthand—how did Xiao Tang manage that?
"Lin Fan brother, am I very scary?"
Xiao Tang looked up at Lin Fan, her eyes filled with unease.
"No, you are not scary at all."
Lin Fan gently patted Xiao Tang's head to comfort her.
He knew that Xiao Tang had become that way to protect him.
"Thank you, Xiao Tang," Lin Fan said sincerely.
Xiao Tang shook her head; she didn't need Lin Fan's gratitude. She just wanted to be with Lin Fan, together forever.
...
As the sun set, golden sunlight filtered through the mist, casting a long shadow of Lin Fan and Xiao Tang.
Lin Fan gazed at the magnificent scenery before him, and suddenly a surge of creative inspiration welled up inside him.
He wanted to write down this thrilling experience, to craft a story—a story about friendship, about protection, about hope.
" Xiao Tang, let's write a novel," Lin Fan said with a smile as he looked at Xiao Tang.
"Write a novel?" Xiao Tang tilted her head, asking curiously.
"Yes, write a novel."
Lin Fan nodded, excitement sparkling in his eyes.
"Let's write about our adventures together, okay?" he asked Xiao Tang.
Her eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously, a radiant smile spreading across her face.
"Okay!" she exclaimed loudly.
Under the setting sun, one person and one corpse exchanged smiles.
Their story was just beginning...
