Dark clouds began to gather in the sky, and after a few rumbles of thunder, heavy rain suddenly poured down. People on the street had no time to open their umbrellas and were drenched.
Brother Jae-seok looked very serious. As he walked past Anna and Kwang-soo, he greeted them briefly and hurried away, completely unlike his usual smiling self.
"What happened to Brother Jae-seok?" Anna asked Kwang-soo.
Kwang-soo found it strange; he had never seen Yoo Jae-suk like this before.
Just then, he noticed Kim Jong Kook coming out as well. Kwang-soo grabbed him and asked, "Jung Kook? What's wrong with Brother Jae-seok? He seems troubled."
"I noticed too, but when I asked him, he wouldn't say anything."
"He never acted like this before, even when things were tough. Could it be something at home?"
Kim Jong Kook shook his head. "I don't know either. He just received a call earlier, and then he was like this."
As they spoke, they saw Yoo Jae-suk get into a car and disappear from sight.
"Is something going to happen?" Jung Kook said.
Lee Kwang-soo felt a bit worried but quickly dismissed his thoughts, saying, "Oh come on, Brother Jae-seok can handle anything."
"That's true," Jung Kook replied. He exchanged a few words with Anna, and just then a car arrived, so Kim Jong Kook got in and left.
The sound of the rain was loud, but Anna felt something was off. That car Brother Jae-seok got into looked so much like...?
Noticing that Anna seemed troubled, Lee Kwang-soo asked, "What's wrong?"
Anna couldn't quite put her finger on it. She just felt that the car from earlier resembled Andy's too closely. She also recalled how Andy seemed to know everything when they first met.
"How is that possible? How could Andy have anything to do with Brother Jae-seok?"
"That car looks like Andy's."
"Andy? What car does Andy have?"
"A black Imported Mercedes Sedan."
Lee Kwang-soo smiled and said, "Oh, those cars all look pretty similar."
"Oh, really?"
Lee Kwang-soo had a point; such cars do look alike, and with the rain, it seemed she was overthinking it.
The driver still hadn't arrived to pick her up. She tried calling Andy, but it always went to voicemail. A text notification chimed in; it was from Andy: 'The driver had an emergency and can't make it. I will be home late today, so don't wait for me.'
Anna sighed. It was frustrating that the driver came every day, but on a rainy day like this, he couldn't make it. Her luck seemed to be at its worst.
"What's wrong?" Lee Kwang-soo asked.
"Nothing. Andy can't pick me up today. I'm going to take a taxi from over there," Anna replied as she opened her umbrella, planning to wait in the taxi area.
"No need; I'll give you a ride," Kwang-soo said.
Anna was about to refuse but remembered what happened last time she rejected Kwang-soo's offer. Looking out at the dark, rainy night, she finally nodded. "Okay, thank you, Brother Kwangsoo."
"Just wait a moment; my assistant will bring the car in five minutes," Kwang-soo said.
"Alright. Thank you."
"When did you become so polite with me?" Lee Kwang-soo joked.
After a long day of work, the mental stress and physical pain made Anna feel like a deflated balloon once she got into the car. The assistant was driving and happily playing songs by Girls' Generation.
"Girls' Generation?" Anna said.
The assistant, who was driving, laughed joyfully and said, "Brother Kwangsoo really loves Girls' Generation, especially Yuri, truly!"
Anna chuckled and replied, "Really?!"
"Hey! What nonsense are you talking about?" Lee Kwang-soo said.
"I'm not talking nonsense. Aren't all these Girls' Generation songs the ones you had me play?"
"That was all for show, okay?" Lee Kwang-soo said, glancing at Anna, who was smirking at him.
"Come on, do I not know you well enough, brother?" Anna patted Lee Kwang-soo's shoulder.
"Exactly, I'm not that kind of person," Lee Kwang-soo thought Anna would defend him.
To his surprise, Anna said, "Yeah, Brother Kwangsoo, you like any pretty girl."
Anna and the assistant Haha burst into laughter while Kwang-soo helplessly looked out the window, no longer wanting to argue with them.
"By the way, Brother Kwangsoo," the assistant seemed to remember something and spoke to Kwang-soo.
"You should just keep your mouth shut and drive properly," Kwang-soo replied awkwardly.
"Oh come on, it's serious. Jiang Yan, who used to work on Running Man's Task Force, died in a car accident," the assistant said.
Anna suddenly felt tense, and Lee Kwang-soo thought she was scared, so he said to his assistant, "What nonsense are you talking about? It's late at night."
"I'm not talking nonsense; it's all over the news. The situation is tragic."
"Really?"
"Yes, if you don't believe me, you can check the news."
Lee Kwang-soo opened the news, and indeed there was a report about the car accident. He sighed and said, "This guy, I never know what he's thinking. He made such a fuss back then just to get you into the Task Force."
"What?" Anna was surprised.
"Because his sister was also applying for the FD position at that time, along with you. In the end, you got in, and he told the PD that if his sister wasn't hired, he would leave too, which is why he resigned."
Anna felt a chill run down her spine; she had no idea about this. She remembered the girl who sat in front of her during the interview; her name seemed to be Jiang Zhenyuan. It seemed that girl was Jiang Yan's sister. As her memories started to piece together, she finally recalled who the woman was that she had only seen from behind as they entered the elevator.
"So it was her?" Anna realized.
"Who?" Lee Kwang-soo asked, confused.
Anna snapped back to reality, smiled awkwardly, and said, "It's nothing."
The car continued to drive on, and the rain showed no signs of letting up. In Anna's heart, she really wanted to meet Jiang Zhenyuan; she inexplicably felt that she should have a serious talk with that girl, regardless of whether she was the mastermind behind that incident or not.
