The room was dark, with no light visible. For some reason, Anna suddenly found herself standing before the tightly locked attic door, which inexplicably emitted a faint glow.
Like a moth drawn to a flame, she felt compelled by its allure, unable to resist.
She approached step by step, her footsteps silent, her breathing unheard.
Her fingertips lightly touched the door; as if by magic, the copper lock immediately loosened and vanished. With all her strength, she pushed the door open, and the creaking sound signaled its age and wear.
Curious to discover what lay inside, Anna attempted to move her feet but suddenly found herself unable to budge. Looking down, she saw countless withered hands gripping her ankles tightly. She wanted to scream for help but could not make a sound.
Suddenly, the ground beneath her collapsed violently, and a terrifying sense of weightlessness engulfed her.
"Ah." She jolted awake in bed, drenched in cold sweat. Another nightmare. Ever since that day, these nightmares had haunted her every night.
As daylight broke, Anna silenced the alarm clock and got out of bed to wash up and change clothes.
After checking her luggage one last time to ensure she hadn't forgotten anything, she hurried off to the airport.
The Runningman Task Force resembled a small travel group in the departure hall, standing out slightly. Although they were there for work, everyone still carried an air of going on vacation; it seemed that novelty was indeed the best motivation for work.
Boarding the plane, she managed to take a nap. When she opened her eyes again, they were already circling above Phuket Island, with crystal-clear blue waters and lush green islands that looked like a beautiful painting.
Upon exiting Phuket Airport, the humid climate, unlike that of Korea, enveloped us. On the bus ride to the hotel, the scenery was breathtaking, each view like a painting. However, there was no time to savor these beautiful sights as Zhao PD began assigning tasks. After dropping off our luggage and stepping out of the room, I was drenched in sweat. It was the rainy season in Thailand, with frequent downpours. Looking up, thick clouds loomed overhead, and the weather changed rapidly.
Anna and Dong Wan, accompanied by a guide, headed to Blue Diamond Island. Riding on a speedboat for a long distance, the darkening skies brought rougher waves. Anna felt scared as her stomach churned violently from the constant bumps. Dong Wan's face turned pale as well. After what felt like an eternity, they finally arrived at the island. The moment their feet touched the sandy beach, they felt a wonderful sense of gravity.
"Finally here," Dong Wan exclaimed, a smile finally breaking through on his face.
The guide was a young Thai boy named Dong Dong, who spoke fluent Korean. His dark skin did not hide his sun-kissed handsomeness. Seeing Dong Wan's expression, he smiled brightly and said, "You feel much better now, right?"
Dong Wan nodded and replied, "I thought I was going to fall apart sitting there."
The staff from Blue Diamond Island and the main person in charge of this Running Man shoot approached them with friendly greetings. Dong Wan and Anna inspected the setup and areas for filming, including facilities like banana boats for the games. The preparations on the Thai side were quite thorough. Following the game flow, Anna and Dong Wan tested the feasibility and effects of the games before discussing details to make improvements. Before they knew it, night had fallen; the tide began to rise, and rain started to fall again as the wind and waves grew stronger.
Dong Dong's usually playful smile faded as he looked out at the sea from under an awning, discussing something with the crew driving the speedboat.
Seeing that Anna and her team had finished their work, Dong Dong approached them and said, "I have some bad news: the waves are too high; we might not be able to return tonight."
