"What?" Anna and Dong Wan felt a bit disappointed. They thought their work was done, and they could return to the hotel for a good night's sleep, but unexpectedly, they were left here.
Dong Dong shrugged helplessly and said, "There's no choice. It's too dangerous to go back, so we can only make do here for one night."
There was no other option. The ocean was unpredictable, and no one dared to take that risk. The person in charge of Blue Diamond Island arranged a place for them to sleep. Given that they were on a deserted island, its simplicity was understandable.
Anna wanted to call the PD to report the situation, but her phone had no signal at all. Dong Wan's phone was in the same situation.
"Forget it, there's no point in trying; it won't connect," Dong Wan told Anna, as he had already tried many times.
Disappointed, Anna put her phone back in her pocket. Dong Wan sat down on the chair next to Anna. Because it was raining, the sea breeze was particularly chilly. Anna had always been grateful to Dong Wan; she had forgotten how many times he had helped her. Without him, this journey would have been much more difficult.
"Thank you, Dong Wan. I've been wanting to say this for a long time."
Dong Wan smiled shyly and said, "Why are you suddenly saying this?"
"It's nothing; I just want to thank you for your help all this time."
"Not at all. It's just that I was also a newcomer before, so I can understand some of your difficulties."
Suddenly, Anna remembered Jiang Yan and asked Dong Wan, "Dong Wan, do you know that Mr. Jiang Yan resigned because of me?"
Dong Wan was somewhat surprised and said, "You know?"
"Yes," Anna nodded.
Dong Wan smiled and said, "Actually, you don't need to worry too much; that's just how Jiang Yan is." He paused for a moment and added, "I just didn't expect him to be so young..."
"Then, what about his sister?"
"I've met his sister a few times. Sometimes she comes along with Jiang Yan to the filming site. Her name is Jiang Zhenyuan."
So it was Jiang Zhenyuan, it really was her. Anna then asked, "Can you get in touch with her, Dong Wan?"
Dong Wan sighed and said, "Well, it's strange. I heard that she didn't show up at Jiang Yan's funeral; no one knows where she went."
Anna lowered her head and murmured, "Really... how could this happen..."
"By the way, why are you looking for her?"
"Oh, it's nothing. I just have some questions I want to ask her."
Dong Wan said, "Actually, you don't need to dwell on this too much; after all, it's their choice and has nothing to do with you."
Anna looked at Dong Wan, forced a smile, and said, "I know."
Until late at night, the rain finally stopped, and the sky began to clear. One by one, stars revealed themselves, and the sea was surprisingly calm, with the sounds of insects gradually rising and falling. The room was narrow, damp, and simple, filled with a peculiar smell; it must have been a temporary residence for workers on the island. Sitting up in bed, starlight poured through the small window, bringing some light into the room.
The swelling in her knee had almost completely disappeared, but for some reason, Anna's heart remained unsettled whenever she didn't see Jiang Zhenyuan. Moreover, she still owed a debt of gratitude to Park Chan-yeol, who had saved her; she was determined to repay him when the opportunity arose.
Look how clever fate is; she had never imagined that people connected to her would come together through so many coincidences. Before fate decided to pause, no one could disrupt its impending trajectory.
