I originally thought that the weather in Beijing would be cooler than in Thailand, but to my surprise, while the air was dry, the heat was just as intense.
After taking some medication on the plane and getting a bit of sleep, Anna felt a little lighter. With the language barrier causing her some anxiety, she turned on her phone and received a call from Lee Kwang-soo.
"Hello, Brother Kwangsoo."
"Have you arrived?"
"Yes, I just got off the plane." Anna glanced at the time; it was already eleven o'clock at night. "Where are you?"
"We're at Minglan Hotel. Hurry over."
"Minglan Hotel? Is that right?" Anna repeated to ensure she remembered correctly.
"That's right. Call me when you get here, and I'll meet you in the lobby."
"Oh, and please let Miao PD know that I've arrived."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Anna walked to the taxi waiting area and got into a cab. Remembering Kwang-soo's instructions, she told the driver, "Minglan Hotel."
The driver understood the words "Minglan Hotel," but he could tell that Anna was not Chinese. Since the driver did not speak any foreign languages, he could only ask Anna in Chinese, word by word, hoping she would understand: "Is it the Minglan Hotel in the East District or the Minglan Hotel in the West District?"
Anna did not understand what he was saying and could only recognize the name "Minglan Hotel." Thinking she had answered correctly, she kept nodding. Neither she nor Kwang-soo knew that there were two Minglan Hotels in Beijing.
The driver felt a bit frustrated and asked again, "Is it the Minglan Hotel in the East District?"
After thinking for a moment, Anna felt that the driver was confirming the route with her, so she nodded and said, "Yes."
The driver was still confused but vaguely remembered that he had driven a few girls earlier who mentioned going to the Minglan Hotel in the East District to see a Korean star. Receiving a positive response, he set off towards the Minglan Hotel in the East District. At this time, Beijing was still bustling with activity—bright lights and vibrant nightlife—perfect for young people enjoying themselves.
After about half an hour of driving, they finally arrived at a rather luxurious hotel. The driver parked at the entrance, and Anna got out. She noticed some girls waiting outside, likely fans, and there were security guards checking the identification of people entering and exiting. Anna took out her SBS work ID. The guards glanced at it, hesitated for a moment, but ultimately allowed her to enter. It seemed she had not come to the wrong place.
Once inside the hotel lobby, Anna found a slightly secluded spot and took out her phone to call Kwang-soo.
"Hello, Brother Kwangsoo?"
"Have you arrived? Wait a moment; I'll be right over."
After quickly hanging up, Anna felt much more relaxed. Sitting on a sofa in the waiting area, she thought about finally being able to get a good night's sleep and return to her team, which made her feel much more at ease.
"Anna Zheng?"
A familiar voice came from nearby. She initially thought it was Kwang-soo, but that voice clearly belonged to someone else.
Outside the hotel, some girls began to scream and jump excitedly.
Anna could hardly believe her eyes. She slowly stood up and looked at the person in front of her. There was nothing more amusing than encountering someone in such an unpredictable situation at this very moment.
Anna knew that due to the nature of their work, they would definitely meet again. However, each encounter was completely unexpected, which was truly fascinating.
"Hello, Park Chan-yeol," Anna said with a slight smile. Although it hadn't been long since they last met, it felt as if ages had passed.
Park Chan-yeol glanced outside, where fans had already started taking pictures. Concerned about potential rumors, he gestured for Anna to follow him.
