"Ah... one is enough. It's understandable that Brother Jae-seok is getting older, but I didn't expect Anna to become like this at such a young age..." Kim Jong Kook sighed.
Anna smiled happily. If one day she could truly reach the heights of Brother Jae-seok in her field, that would be wonderful.
After a satisfying meal, they walked out of Samsun BBQ Restaurant. The snow showed no signs of stopping. Anna wrapped her scarf tightly and put on her gloves as she headed towards the subway. Her snow boots left long, endless footprints on the streets of Seoul in the late night.
With five minutes until the subway arrived, Anna took out her phone, plugged in her earphones, and opened her music. The familiar melody filled her somewhat empty chest; she never tired of listening to Jaejoong's song "For You," no matter how many times she had heard it.
Anna told herself that it was Jaejoong's beautiful voice that made it so captivating.
But the song told her that it was the story conveyed in the lyrics that captured her heart, making it hard to let go.
As she exited the subway station, a man in a black coat stood there without an umbrella, snowflakes accumulating on his shoulders. The white snowflakes settled on his silver hair, appearing less noticeable regardless of how many there were.
"Hogga?" The person who had disappeared for a long time suddenly reappeared before her, just like before. In this snowy night in Seoul, perhaps the gentle snowfall made it hard for Anna to find the coldness that once resided in Hogga's eyes.
"It's snowing; I wanted to see you," Hogga said.
Anna smiled slightly but did not respond. After a brief pause, she continued walking, with Hogga walking beside her at a comfortable distance, slowly moving forward.
Hogga looked at Anna, whose short hair seemed more composed than six months ago. He recalled how every time Anna saw him before, she was filled with panic. But now, it seemed she had completely shed those youthful naivety and innocence.
"You've changed," Hogga said.
Anna smiled lightly, extending her gloved hand to catch a few snowflakes. "Is it because I cut my hair?"
Hogga shook his head. "That's visible. What I'm talking about is something others can't see."
Anna had grown accustomed to Hogga's all-knowing demeanor. "Have I changed for the better or for the worse?"
"It doesn't matter what others think; the key is how you feel about it," Hogga replied.
"I think... it's just that my mindset has changed," Anna said.
"Is it because of someone?" Hogga asked.
Anna smiled faintly. She had intended to toss the snowflakes she caught, but they melted in her palm before she could do so, disappearing without a trace. "It has nothing to do with anyone; I just want to become the person I've always dreamed of being."
Hogga raised an eyebrow and said, "You're no longer curious about me, nor are you on guard. Should I be happy or sad about that?"
"There are many things that will naturally be said when you're ready. If you wanted to harm me, I suppose I would have died many times over by now," Anna said calmly.
The two fell into a long silence. The four rows of footprints behind them were gradually covered by the continuously falling snowflakes, leaving no trace behind. It was eerily quiet, with only the sound of footsteps crunching on the snow and the gentle rustle of falling flakes.
As they neared home, Hogga gradually slowed his pace until he came to a complete stop. In those few dozen meters of path, only Anna's footprints remained. She turned back to glance at Hogga, who stood quietly under the dim streetlight.
As I opened the door and turned back to close it, I intended to say goodbye, but that person had already left...
