Whoosh!
At this critical moment, a fierce wind swept through, and the sky was suddenly filled with dark clouds, a bolt of lightning streaking across.
Crack!
Thunderous sounds echoed as several bolts of lightning struck down from the heavens, fierce and terrifying, resembling celestial demons clawing down to deliver divine punishment.
"Everyone, look!"
"That vortex again!"
Suddenly, someone shouted, and more people turned their gaze away from Hu Lue and Ye Tian, raising their heads to look at the deep sky, their expressions turning strange.
Surprise, fear, yet also admiration and longing—this complex expression perfectly overlapped on the faces of everyone present; only the pressure from above could evoke such feelings in humanity.
Ye Tian's peripheral vision swept towards the sky, where he saw the same enormous vortex pulsating with lightning in the distant east. The only difference from last time was that the massive beam of light had yet to appear.
"Is it the second tribulation..." Compared to Ye Tian, Hu Lue had completely abandoned his target and was now fixated on the phenomenon in the sky, his lips trembling as he excitedly murmured.
Creak!
It was as if the sky had been suddenly torn apart; an incredibly bright and massive Thunder Pillar shot down from the vortex, seemingly carrying the will of heaven itself, aiming to punish those who dared to defy fate.
"Could it really be the Divine Dragon's Tribulation..." Faced with such overwhelming celestial power, Ye Tian finally felt a sense of reverence. He involuntarily abandoned this fight and focused entirely on gazing at the legendary Divine Thunder Nine Tribulations.
Roar!!!
As the massive Thunder Pillar descended from the sky, a roar that seemed to come from the Primeval echoed, instantly overpowering all other sounds, causing the very heavens and earth to tremble.
"Divine Dragon..." Hu Lue's gaze burned with intensity as he stared towards the distant east, murmuring in a daze.
Roar!!!
Another tremendous roar erupted, and the dark clouds in the sky appeared to thicken even more. The black clouds churned, and thunder rumbled, plunging the entire world into an abyss of darkness at that moment.
Suddenly, the ground seemed to shake violently, the tremors so fierce that it threatened to unsteady anyone standing. Following this, several fine cracks began to spread across the surface of the earth.
"Everyone, gather around me!" Ye Tian was also in awe of the might of heaven and earth, but this sudden anomaly snapped him back to reality. He hurriedly called out to several members of the Cold Family who were standing at a distance.
"Divine Dragon's Tribulation..."
Ye Tian's voice was not particularly quiet, but in the face of the lingering echoes of that tremendous roar, it was insignificant. It was unclear whether those few heard him or not; they merely kept repeating "Divine Dragon's Tribulation," their expressions somewhat dazed, like devout worshippers.
Boom...
The speed at which the ground cracked increased rapidly, with the width of the fissures growing from about a foot to over ten feet. Due to the darkness and many being overwhelmed by the might of heaven and earth, several fell into the abyss, and cries for help rang out continuously.
Only then did this group of "worshippers" regain their senses. Their faces turned pale with fear as they frantically fled towards safety.
Ye Tian furrowed his brow tightly. He activated Yuqi Tayan Jue and lightly tapped his toes, leaping several yards away. At almost the same moment where he had just stood, a massive crack suddenly appeared—bottomless and emanating waves of scorching heat; inside, magma churned violently.
"Everyone, hurry over here!" Ye Tian landed and steadied himself, barely having time to feel grateful for his timely escape before shouting again, because he had Yuqi Tayan Jue, and those brothers who had fought alongside him only had two legs to run.
"Everyone, gather around Leaf Young Master!" Fifth Brother was the first to spot Ye Tian standing on the southeast side, so he shouted to the few companions who were still frozen in place, stunned by the cracked ground.
Boom!
The roar of the Divine Dragon had faded, but suddenly a deep rumbling sound echoed nearby. Following that, Black Wind Stronghold shook violently, with many wooden fortifications and earthen walls collapsing. Boulders rolled down from the mountain peak, and some beasts that usually remained hidden were now rushing down in panic. The scene was as if demons long buried deep underground had quietly awakened, ready to unleash endless slaughter upon the world.
"Ah!"
Boulders tumbled down from the mountaintop, and a member of the Cold Family who had been standing not far from Fifth Brother was instantly crushed into a meat paste, blood splattering far away and hitting Fifth Brother's face.
"A San!" Fifth Brother reacted after a moment and cried out in anguish.
"Elder Brother Five, be careful!"
Just as Fifth Brother was about to run under the boulder to pull out A San, who was completely unrecognizable beneath it, a shadow suddenly appeared above him—about the size of a grinding stone and weighing at least a thousand pounds.
Fifth Brother froze at the warning and then felt a whistling sound overhead. Looking up, he saw a massive boulder falling like a meteor, less than five zhang away from him.
"Ah..."
Fifth Brother couldn't help but cry out, but this sudden disaster rendered his feet as heavy as lead, making it impossible for him to move. All he could do was open his mouth wide, his eyes filled with terror.
Whoosh!
The giant rock, carrying the howling Whispers, mercilessly smashed down towards Fifth Brother's location.
"Elder Brother Five must not be harmed!" Ye Tiantong suddenly shrank back, a thought flashing through his mind like lightning. Then, his figure erupted into motion, moving faster than thunder, and in the blink of an eye, he was already by Fifth Brother's side.
Bang!
The giant rock fell just in time. At this critical moment, Ye Tian did not hesitate to step forward and strike out with his palm. Blue electric light burst forth brilliantly, and with a loud crash, the giant rock was reduced to powder.
"Elder Brother Five, hurry and go!" Ye Tian had no time to calm his surging blood energy as he reached out to grab Fifth Brother and soared away.
Fifth Brother was being pulled by Ye Tian, but his expression was dazed. Having just faced death, he was now like a wooden chicken, unable to utter a single word.
"Brothers, follow me! Retreat!" Ye Tian hoisted Fifth Brother's arm over his shoulder and shouted loudly while rushing forward, signaling the Cold Family members to quickly leave this place where disaster was about to strike.
"Hurry and retreat!"
"Everyone, follow Leaf Young Master!"
After all, they were the elite guards of the Cold Family. Most of them had already shaken off their panic and, upon hearing Ye Tian's command, began calling out to each other as they fled alongside him.
In contrast to the Cold Family members, the Loyal Minions of Black Wind Stronghold were far less composed. Comprised of local ruffians and outsiders, they had not undergone any rigorous training and had never witnessed such great upheaval. Under these circumstances, they were terrified to the point of losing control—some knelt in prayer while others stood frozen in fear.
At this moment, even Earthshatter Tai Sui and Thunderstorm looked horrified as they hurriedly distanced themselves from Black Wind Stronghold.
"Divine Dragon..." Hu Lue was different; his gaze remained fervent as he stared longingly towards the east, as if there lay something he had pursued all his life.
"What is Hu Lue doing?" Wang Tiankuang asked, somewhat puzzled, as he turned to Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti.
"I don't know," Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti replied, his face showing hesitation. From what he knew about Hu Lue, this person would not act this way merely because of witnessing the celestial phenomenon.
"He is waiting for the heavenly tribulation to end," said Earthshatter Tai Sui, Zuo Tiankuang. Due to the chaos earlier, he had also escaped to this location with Wang Tiankuang and the others.
"Why?" Wang Tiankuang asked in confusion.
"I’m not too sure about the specifics, but I know that after the Divine Dragon's Tribulation, something will be left behind. As long as a mortal obtains it, they will surely reach the pinnacle of the world," Earthshatter Tai Sui said lightly, seemingly not believing in such matters at all.
"Oh? Is that really the case?" Wang Tiankuang was intrigued and pressed for more information.
"Heh heh, who knows what's true or false? Whether the Divine Dragon's Tribulation is real or not is beside the point. Just consider the might of heaven and earth; which human can get close to it?" Earthshatter Tai Sui's tone was somewhat dismissive, as if mocking Wang Tiankuang for believing in such ethereal matters despite being a formidable Martial Master.
"That’s hard to say! The Dragon God is called Divine Dragon for a reason; perhaps only those fated can obtain what it leaves behind!" Wang Tiankuang's voice was filled with excitement as he stared blankly at the distant eastern horizon, his expression mirroring that of Hu Lue, as if he believed himself to be that fated person he just mentioned.
Seeing this, Earthshatter Tai Sui let out a cold laugh and turned his head away, choosing not to speak further.
Boom!
A thunderous rumble echoed from Black Wind Stronghold once again, and then everyone felt the surrounding air suddenly grow hot, turning into a steamy atmosphere in just a moment.
At the same time, strange sounds came from the mountain peak hidden within the dark clouds. It felt as if a flood was about to pour down, accompanied by a sizzling sound that seemed to melt everything.
"Sky Mad Second Master! If we don’t leave now, it will be too late!" Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti exclaimed in alarm; he had already sensed that something was about to happen here.
“Divine Dragon's Tribulation...” Wang Tiankuang was still excitedly chattering away, looking just like Hu Lue.
Seeing this, Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti frowned deeply. If he left him alone, then joining the Wang family would be impossible. Staying with him would likely lead to certain death.
“Where is Hu Lue?! Brother Xu, quickly help me see where Hu Lue has gone!” Just as Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti was in a dilemma, Wang Tiankuang suddenly spoke up, frowning and looking around.
Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti focused his gaze. The scene was chaotic; many Black Wind Stronghold Loyal Minions were either crushed by falling rocks or had fallen into the abyss. In any case, there were hardly any survivors left. However, Hu Lue, who had been standing ten zhang away just moments ago, had vanished without a trace.
“Damn it, did that bastard Hu Lue go ahead to seize the Divine Dragon treasure?!” Wang Tiankuang thought to himself when he saw that Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti did not respond.
“No, he must have left first. He has an unchangeable habit of finishing what he starts before moving on to the next thing, so he must have gone to find Ye Tian.” Windwalker Young Master explained.
“Sky Mad Second Master, if we don’t leave now, it will be too late!” Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti urged again, this time pointing at the clouds above Black Wind Stronghold.
At that moment, torrents of lava erupted from the mountain peak. The lava illuminated the nearby dark clouds, turning them a blinding golden-red color.
A strong smell of sulfur filled the air, and waves of heat scorched their skin. Trees and grass turned to ash before they even had a chance to catch fire.
“Volcano eruption!” Only then did Wang Tiankuang come to his senses and shouted loudly before being the first to flee.
