After defeating Cold Wu, Ye Tian did not immediately return to the Cold Family but instead headed to the Great River a few miles away. Although he was not particularly eager for the Crimson Dragon Inner Pill, it would be a great fortune if he could obtain it.
At this moment, Ye Tian stood on a towering cliff, overlooking the rushing river below. The river was wide, measuring at least a hundred zhang, with turbulent waters churning violently. Waves crashed against the cliff, rising to a height of over a person and roaring loudly.
Ye Tian gazed into the distance; this river was a tributary of the Spirit Martial River. After flowing eastward for hundreds of miles, it merged into the Great River of Spirit Martial. If the Crimson Dragon Inner Pill had indeed fallen into this river, it should have long since been swept downstream, leaving no trace of Shadowless.
After observing for a while, Ye Tian turned back towards Spirit Martial Town. There are many things in this world that cannot be obtained simply by wanting them; it is true that only those with fate can possess them.
He traveled swiftly and appeared at the outskirts of Spirit Martial Town after about two days. According to reason, with Ye Tian's speed, he could have returned in a day and a half, but he encountered some unexpected delays along the way.
These so-called surprises were merely encounters with a few demon beasts. Although these beasts were not very powerful, they were certainly not ordinary creatures. However, Ye Tian was surprised to find that the demon beasts seemed quite fearful upon encountering him; after a brief standoff, they all fled in panic.
This puzzled Ye Tian, but after some analysis, he quickly reached a conclusion. This situation was likely related to the Crimson Dragon Golden Blood. Since Ye Tian had refined it, its aura was quite weak. The demon beasts must have sensed the faint dragon aura and thought that the critically injured Crimson Dragon was nearby, intending to take advantage of it. However, upon getting closer and realizing it was not so, they panicked and fled.
Yet Ye Tian would not let them escape easily. Although these demon beasts were not of high rank, they had all reached the stage of successfully condensing their inner pills. Whether they had inner pills or not was uncertain, but the possibility was still quite high. After several pursuits and hunts by Ye Tian, he ultimately obtained one Spirit Beast Inner Pill and swallowed it.
Since that inner pill had just been formed, it contained insufficient spiritual power. After consuming it, Ye Tian did not feel any significant changes but sensed a faint momentum towards a breakthrough.
However, despite being on the verge of a breakthrough, Ye Tian chose not to continue hunting demon beasts. Firstly, demon beasts capable of condensing Spirit Beast Inner Pills were rare; even if they reached that level, there was no guarantee they would have condensed inner pills. Secondly, encountering them by chance was different from searching for them deliberately; intentional searching would require a lot of time. His current goal remained to return to the Cold Family first and ensure everything was fine before considering other matters.
Along the way, Ye Tian recalled Cold Wu's words multiple times. He had not seen Wang Weiyang during this trip, which indicated that Wang Weiyang had stayed in Spirit Martial Town. Since Wang Tianba led Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti and Windwalker Fan Fenglin into the mountains, only the blind Wang Tiankuang remained in the Wang family; thus, it was highly likely that Wang Weiyang stayed behind at home.
However, what Cold Wu mentioned should not happen. Although Wang Weiyang was strong, he had not yet reached a level where he could compete with Cold Boyuan; therefore, nothing should go wrong with the Cold Family.
"I wonder how Fan Fenglin is doing," Ye Tian said as he leaped down from the hill and made his way towards Cold Family Garden. Along the way, he recalled Fan Fenglin whom he had knocked unconscious.
After obtaining the Crimson Dragon Golden Blood and having his clothes burned away, Ye Tian needed to find new clothing. However, during his search for clothes, he did not see Fan Fenglin's figure anywhere. This suggested that Fan Fenglin had already woken up and left; whether he returned to the Cold Family remained unknown.
Logically speaking, he should have returned to the Cold Family. However, Ye Tian worried that upon seeing him harmed, Fan Fenglin might impulsively seek revenge against Cold Wu and others. If that were the case, it was very likely that he would still be within Heavenly Shadow Mountain Range.
After thinking for a while, Ye Tian shook his head. Although Fan Fenglin was relatively weak, with the ability of Point Water Without Trace, he should be safe walking alone in the Heavenly Shadow Mountain Range, unless he encountered exceptionally strong beasts. However, the chances of that happening were slim, as powerful beasts typically had unusual territories. Fan Fenglin was not foolish and would naturally avoid unnecessary trouble.
"Heh heh... how could I have such thoughts?" Ye Tian chuckled to himself. Fan Fenglin was a First-Stage Martial Artist, and Martial Mastery was already considered strong in Spirit Martial Town. It was amusing that he was worried about the safety of a strong person; wasn't that just being overly anxious?
As one continuously grows stronger, their mindset subtly shifts as well. Ye Tian was currently experiencing this; with his current strength, defeating a Three-Stage Martial Artist was effortless. Therefore, a mere First-Stage Martial Artist naturally did not catch his attention, and in his eyes, Fan Fenglin had become an image of weakness. Worrying about the safety of a weaker friend was a common mindset among the strong. This was not arrogance but rather an unconscious change in mentality that few people would notice.
At this moment, Ye Tian had arrived at the largest and most bustling street in Spirit Martial Town. The weather today was clear and sunny, with a bright blue sky and no clouds in sight. Such weather naturally attracted many visitors. The wide street, ten zhang across, was crowded with people coming and going, bustling with activity and noise.
The large number of pedestrians made business exceptionally good for the small vendors, who were busy smiling and calling out to customers.
Ye Tian approached a stall selling small ornaments, tilted his head to take a look, and then called out to the Boss, asking, "Boss, how much is this?"
The Boss was busy but glanced at Ye Tian when he heard him. After sizing him up for a moment, he thought to himself, "This person is covered in bloodstains and looks dirty; although he doesn't seem fierce, he certainly doesn't look like a good person. But he seems somewhat familiar... where have I seen him before?"
"Boss?" Ye Tian gently urged.
"Fifteen copper coins," the stall owner said, putting aside his doubts as he picked up the small item Ye Tian had shown interest in and handed it to him.
This was a common tactic among roadside vendors; once you asked for the price, they would push the item into your hands. Many people who only intended to inquire would feel obligated to pay for it out of courtesy.
Ye Tian was naturally one of those people, but when he held the item in his hand, he suddenly remembered that he had no money with him. After giving a dry laugh, he put the item back in its place and said apologetically before turning to leave.
"Damn it, is he trying to make a fool of me?" The vendor cursed under his breath. When he turned back around, he noticed that several previous customers had left due to his delay in dealing with Ye Tian.
"What bad luck!" The vendor cursed again and turned to another vendor nearby. "Seven Sons, did you see that guy just now?"
"Yeah, I saw him. What's up?" replied the vendor known as Seven Sons.
"Nothing much; just thought he looked familiar. It's bothering me that I can't remember who he is," the vendor said while shaking his head, clearly still pondering over it.
"Dammit, you must be bored," Seven Sons spat, startling a potential customer away from his sweets. He didn't mind, though, as he focused on Ye Tian's retreating figure.
After watching for a while, he said, "Looks like it's that Ye Tian."
"What?" The vendor was taken aback, as Seven Sons' earlier curses had been quite loud.
"Damn, look at you scared out of your wits. Don't worry; it’s probably just someone who looks like him. What kind of person is Ye Tian to dress so sloppily?" Seven Sons understood the vendor's concern.
"That’s not necessarily true! Haven't you heard that the Cold Family had the Wang family..." The vendor stopped mid-sentence, glancing around nervously before leaning closer to Seven Sons to continue speaking.
In the distance, Ye Tian had suddenly stopped after walking several dozen paces.
"Oh my!" The vendor exclaimed, for just as he turned back, a young man covered in blood appeared before him. To make matters worse, there was a glint of gold in the young man's eyes.
"I just want to ask you a few questions," Ye Tian raised his hand to signal that he meant no harm.
"W-what questions?" The vendor, an ordinary man, had never seen anything like this before. Coupled with Ye Tian's blood-stained clothing and his earlier curses, he was now terrified.
"You just said..."
"I didn’t say anything! Please have mercy!" Before Ye Tian could finish, the vendor began to plead with a quivering voice and bowed deeply.
Ye Tian frowned and then pulled him into the small room behind the stall. The vendor's shouting had been as loud as a pig being slaughtered, drawing the attention of passersby on the street.
Once inside, Ye Tian shooed away those peeking through the door and then secured it with a bolt. He spoke softly, "Brother, I just want to inquire about something; I mean no harm."
The vendor was even more frightened being pulled into the room. Once inside, where outsiders couldn't see what was happening, he immediately knelt on the ground and begged for mercy.
"Am I really that scary?" Ye Tian couldn't help but ask in confusion.
"Your eyes..." The vendor secretly glanced over, and after observing, his expression showed confusion, which soon settled slightly.
"What’s wrong with my eyes?" Ye Tian was even more puzzled.
"Sir, no, no, young master, my lord..." The vendor changed his titles several times but still felt it was inappropriate.
"What exactly is wrong with my eyes?" Ye Tian urged.
"Your eyes just now had a golden light..."
Upon hearing this, Ye Tian suddenly realized that he had drawn in the Crimson Dragon Golden Blood. It seemed that in his moment of anxiety, he had inadvertently revealed the true form of the golden dragon, which was why the vendor was so frightened.
"There's no need to be afraid. I am Ye Tian. I have something I want to ask you." Ye Tian stated his name; he still had a good reputation in Spirit Martial Town.
Seeing that Ye Tian indeed had no intention of punishing him, the vendor got up from the ground, casually took the teapot from the table, poured tea into a bowl, and pushed it to Ye Tian.
Ye Tian waved his hand, indicating that it was unnecessary.
"I want to ask you about what I heard you mention regarding the Cold Family and the Wang Family. What happened between them?" Ye Tian pushed the tea back to calm his mind.
The vendor took the tea bowl and took a sip. After drinking, he mysteriously said, "You don't know yet? The Cold Family has been wiped out by the Wang Family."
