For the next three days, everyone rested at the inn. Of course, the so-called rest was mainly for Ye Tian and Yue Lingwei.
After three days, Ye Tian was completely fine, and Yue Lingwei's injuries had also improved significantly.
Yue Lingwei had come down the mountain to take on a mission, specifically a Red Mission, which he had little confidence in from the start. Now, with his injuries added to the mix, he ultimately decided to return to Cloud Sea Sect and wait until he fully recovered before proceeding.
The decision made by Yue Lingwei was met with no objections from the members of Falling Cloud Pavilion, as they had originally come down the mountain to gain experience under his guidance. With Yue Lingwei's strength greatly diminished, there was no possibility of completing the extremely difficult Red Mission.
Regarding the battle with Left Sword Star, Ye Tian never revealed the final outcome to Yue Lingwei. Nevertheless, they had shared life-and-death experiences together and their personalities were quite compatible. After spending a few days together, they had dropped the formalities and began addressing each other as brothers.
"Brother Ye, don't forget to come find me for a drink at Falling Cloud Pavilion after you return," Yue Lingwei said as he turned back to Ye Tian, who was seeing him off at the door.
"Don't worry; just make sure you don't try to avoid paying when the time comes," Ye Tian joked with a smile.
Yue Lingwei laughed heartily and waved his hand before leading the members of Falling Cloud Pavilion away.
After sending off Yue Lingwei, Ye Tian returned to the inn with everyone else. They planned to have a hearty lunch and set out in the afternoon when the sun was less intense.
Their destination was Huanggang Ridge, located several hundred miles southeast. Ye Tian had been surprised when he accepted this mission because Huanggang Ridge was the stronghold of Dong Qi. He had just let Scarred Man go and now found himself on another journey to attack their stronghold...
Ye Tian had a vague feeling that this trip to Huanggang Ridge would surely bring about some coincidences.
On the road, everyone refrained from using Skyward Martial Arts and traveled at a normal pace. They chatted and laughed without feeling tired, which led them to cover more ground than intended. By nightfall, they missed their resting spot and only reached a small town when the moon was high in the sky.
This small town was indeed small; one could see down the entire street at a glance. Besides one Tavern and one inn, there were hardly any other businesses.
Due to limited resources at this inn, there were no other options but to eat at the Tavern before returning to rest at the inn.
This place is remote and impoverished, and it is estimated that there are hardly any guests staying here for a year and a half, making the environment quite harsh. Moreover, not only is the environment poor, but the attitude of the shopkeepers is even worse. After a few exchanges, it nearly provoked the Wine Kid to violence.
After finally calming down the Wine Kid, everyone was able to relax. The next morning, Ye Tian was the first to wake up and called everyone to get up. They then went to the tavern across the street for a simple breakfast before setting off again.
As they were leaving, the Wine Kid kept laughing, leaving everyone puzzled. After asking, they learned that he had urinated in someone’s oil jar.
Since the inn did not provide meals for its guests, the oil in the jar could only be used for personal consumption. The Wine Kid's prank was truly malicious.
Along the way, everyone continued to joke and laugh. During this time, Yun'er tried several times to approach Ye Tian to talk, but seeing him lost in thought, she refrained from disturbing him.
Ye Tian was contemplating matters regarding Left Sword Star. Although he had decisively defeated Left Sword Star in their battle, upon reflection, it was indeed a stroke of luck.
Left Sword Star possessed Martial Sovereign-level strength. By all logic, eliminating Ye Tian would require little effort on his part. If it weren't for the fortunate encounter with Yue Lingwei, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Not only would Ye Tian himself be affected, but even his friends would likely suffer repercussions.
Of course, this was just one aspect. Another key point to victory was that although Left Sword Star's strength was halved after being injured, if he had chosen to fight Ye Tian using Martial Sovereign techniques, even if Ye Tian won, he would have had to pay a heavy price. This is because regardless of his injuries, Left Sword Star's strength would still be at least comparable to a Five-Stage Martial Artist, giving him a fighting chance against Ye Tian.
However, he chose to use Blood Sea Divine Canon instead. While the name Blood Sea Divine Canon sounds impressive, it is merely a lower-tier Evil Scripture from the Blood Sect Primordial Evil. Compared to Ye Tian's Second Spirit Pouch and Crimson Dragon Golden Blood, it was hardly worth mentioning. Moreover, after activating Blood Sea Divine Canon, Left Sword Star could not utilize Martial Origin Power, while Ye Tian could merge the powers of three sects. In this comparison, Left Sword Star had no chance of winning.
"What are you thinking about?" Cold Moon was not as considerate as Yun'er; she didn't care whether Ye Tian was deep in thought or not and walked straight over to him, giving his shoulder a light pat.
"Nothing much," Ye Tian replied with a smile and continued his contemplation.
Seeing that he still wouldn’t leave his thoughts behind, Cold Moon added, "I’ve named this long sword."
"Oh?" Ye Tian became interested and asked, "What did you call it?"
“Azure Moonlight in Autumn, how about it?” Cold Moon asked with an eager tone.
“Hmm...” Ye Tian pondered for a moment. To be honest, he didn't like the name much, but seeing Cold Moon's expectant expression, he couldn't refuse her and could only nod, saying, “Not bad, it suits you well.”
Upon hearing this, Cold Moon smiled and waved her sword, scattering waves of light around.
“Sister Ningyue, your swordsmanship seems quite skilled,” Ye Tian remarked curiously as he watched Cold Moon perform gracefully.
He had no knowledge of swordsmanship or martial arts, but he remembered that Cold Moon seemed to have some experience in these areas, which was why he had given her the sword in the first place.
“I know a bit, but I'm not very proficient,” Cold Moon replied. As a direct disciple of Cloud Pavilion Master Qin Fufeng, who excelled in swordplay, she naturally learned some techniques.
“Modest,” Ye Tian chuckled. What Cold Moon had just demonstrated did indeed look impressive; however, whether it was practical remained uncertain.
Cold Moon accepted the compliment without shyness, giggling happily as she walked away.
After traveling for about two more hours, the sky darkened, revealing a market town ahead. To avoid a repeat of last night's “tragedy,” they decided not to continue their journey and found an inn to rest.
After two days of travel, they were only about three hundred miles from their destination, Huanggang Ridge. Ye Tian figured he should be able to gather some information here, so he called over a waiter to inquire.
“Little Brother Two, is life in your town going well?” Ye Tian asked indirectly. After all, they were less than three hundred miles from Huanggang Ridge, and no one could guarantee there weren't any spies around.
“Thanks to the guests, it's not bad. We only have occasional bandit troubles,” the waiter replied while wiping the table.
“Bandit troubles?”
“Yes, there are seven bandit camps within a hundred miles of this Square Area. However, they don't pose much of a threat; if they make too much noise, a hero from ‘Mountain’ will come down to deal with them.” As he spoke, the waiter stopped his work and cupped his hands towards the direction of Cloud Sea Sect.
Ye Tian smiled lightly upon hearing this. The reputation of the Cloud Sea Sect was quite good, and he had thought the same before joining the Mountain Gate. However, after witnessing Li Xun, Elder Dou, and the Qiu Family's Twin Young Masters, he realized that oppression and conspiracy existed everywhere in the world.
"Since the Cloud Sea Sect has intervened, why are you still causing trouble?" Ye Tian asked again.
"Alas... they dare not rob openly, but secretly there is much..." The waiter paused again, his small eyes darting around cautiously.
Following his gaze, Ye Tian looked around. Apart from his companions, there were two tables: one by the window and another near the door. Both tables had only two people drinking and eating, who appeared to be farmers. They likely finished their work and were relaxing with some drinks.
The waiter scanned the area and, judging that there were no bandit spies present, felt a bit bolder. However, just as he was about to speak again, he suddenly seemed to remember something. He glanced at Ye Tian warily and quickly stopped himself.
Seeing this, Ye Tian couldn't help but smile wryly; the waiter must have realized he was probing for information and mistook him for a bandit spy.
"Please enjoy your drinks; your food will arrive shortly," the waiter said, not intending to speak further with Ye Tian. After saying this, he hung a cloth over his shoulder and hurried away.
Ye Tian didn't mind; it was best if he could gather some information. If not, it didn't matter since Huanggang Ridge was only three hundred miles away—it wouldn't run off.
After everyone finished their meals, they rested for the night. The next morning, they left the town and continued heading southeast. They agreed to quicken their pace today in hopes of reaching Huanggang Ridge before dark.
As Ye Tian and his group disappeared into the streets, the innkeeper's waiter emerged from hiding. After confirming that they had left, he turned and ran back to the inn.
Inside the inn, there were still very few diners remaining. Yet those few insisted on calling for the waiter to bring more food and drinks. The waiter ignored their shouts without hesitation and went straight to the back hall.
In the back hall stood an Obese Man with his hands behind his back, looking up at the sky as if lost in thought.
"The Innkeeper," the waiter said as he stood behind the Obese Man, adopting a humble demeanor.
"How did it go?" The Obese Man's tone was somewhat weary, as if troubled by something.
"As you guessed, those few indeed headed southeast," the waiter said, pausing for a moment to think before asking again, "Do you think they could be from the Cloud Sea Sect?"
"Very likely," the Obese Man nodded slightly, his fist suddenly tightening.
"Are they coming for us?" the waiter asked again.
The Obese Man remained silent, and the waiter waited patiently until after a cup of tea had passed. Finally, the Obese Man spoke again: "Send a message back, instructing the Third Master to prepare."
Upon hearing this, the waiter nodded and hurried away. Moments later, a Message Bug flew swiftly toward the southeast.
The Obese Man fell into deep thought once more. Three days ago, news had come from Huanggang Ridge that the Cloud Sea Sect had discovered them and designated them as a mission target. They had captured a disciple from the Cloud Sea Sect who was attempting to infiltrate the Village and obtained this information from him. Consequently, the Bandit Camp Boss immediately issued orders for him to be more vigilant in the coming days; any suspicious individuals heading southeast were to be reported to the Bandit Camp without delay.
"The Innkeeper's message has been sent," the waiter returned, waiting for further instructions.
The Obese Man nodded slightly at this and then suddenly revealed a fierce look in his eyes as he said to the waiter: "Add another message."
"What should it say?" the waiter asked.
"Ambush!"
