"Well, it has come to this. What can we do? You know your brother's temper. If we try to stop him now, what if he does something reckless?" Huang Fei's Mother said, though she was dissatisfied with Lin Xiaohui, she was more afraid of hurting her son.
"But we can't just stand by and watch Xiaohui jump into a fire pit. Look at today's wedding; it's so awkward. Lin Xiaohui doesn't even have a bridesmaid. It's really uncomfortable to see," Huang Fei's Sister whispered, her tone dark, revealing her strong discontent with Lin Xiaohui.
"Eldest Brother, Sister-in-law, we understand that Xiaohui's girlfriend comes from a poor family, but how can she get married without even finding a bridesmaid? I see plenty of young girls among her relatives and classmates. Can't you talk to them and find someone to be a bridesmaid?" Huang Fei's relatives gathered around, voicing their concerns.
"Alright, I'll go talk to her," Huang Fei's Mother nodded.
The the Huang Family approached Lin Xiaohui. Seeing their grim expressions, Lin Xiaohui felt somewhat at a loss.
"Xiaohui, what's going on? How can you not have a bridesmaid? I see many of your classmates here, including female classmates. Isn't there anyone who can be your bridesmaid?" Huang Fei's Mother asked with a stern face.
Lin Xiaohui didn't know what to say; her lips were tightly pressed together as she nervously fidgeted with her wedding dress.
"You really disappoint me. If you won't say anything, I will," Huang Fei's Mother said with frustration. She scanned the banquet hall and first approached Ding Huanhuan, asking if she could be Lin Xiaohui's bridesmaid, but Ding Huanhuan coldly refused.
Huang Fei's Mother then sought out several of Lin Xiaohui's female classmates, but they all looked equally troubled.
Seeing no one willing to be Lin Xiaohui's bridesmaid, Huang Fei's Mother stomped her foot in anger and confronted Lin Xiaohui coldly: "What kind of person are you that not a single person is willing to be your bridesmaid? I'm starting to doubt your character. If your character were good, why wouldn't anyone want to help you?"
Lin Xiaohui felt utterly wronged but couldn't argue back.
"Mom, how can you say that about Xiaohui?" Huang Fei said angrily as he saw his mother going too far.
"If I don't say this about her, should I praise her instead? We've already given her enough face by holding the wedding in this small county town. But has she given us any face? So many relatives and friends from our family came to witness your wedding, and now there's not even a bridesmaid. Where do you expect me to put my face?" Huang Fei's Mother was so upset she looked like she might cry.
"Auntie, it's my fault," Lin Xiaohui said with tears welling up in her eyes as she quickly apologized.
"What good is an apology? If there’s no bridesmaid today, then don’t bother getting married," Huang Fei's Mother declared angrily, her gaze resolute.
The atmosphere in the hall grew even more oppressive at this moment. Just then, a woman wearing a down jacket and sunglasses walked in. As soon as she entered, all eyes turned to her. Although her face was obscured, the aura she exuded and her figure indicated that she was no ordinary person.
"Xiaohui, let me introduce you. This is the bridesmaid I found for you; her name is Lin Yin, and she's from your family," Jiang Chen said as he introduced the woman to Lin Xiaohui.
Lin Yin then removed her mask and sunglasses. When everyone saw her face clearly, the hall erupted in astonishment.
"Oh my God, she's so beautiful!" A crowd exclaimed in disbelief. Lin Yin's beauty and grace were on par with top celebrities.
Lin Yin looked at Lin Xiaohui with a gentle smile and walked over.
"I am very happy to be your bridesmaid today. Here is a wedding gift for you. Wishing you a happy marriage and a joyful life," Lin Yin said as she presented a gift box to Lin Xiaohui.
At that moment, Lin Xiaohui had completely shaken off her earlier gloom and embarrassment, feeling an overwhelming sense of joy. Huang Fei was also pleasantly surprised.
Huang Fei's parents, sister, and relatives had complex expressions on their faces.
"Xiaohui, what’s going on? You invited such a beautiful bridesmaid, but where was she just now?" Huang Fei whispered.
Lin Xiaohui suddenly realized and pointed at Jiang Chen, saying, "This is my classmate Jiang Chen. He mentioned he had a friend to be the bridesmaid, but I never expected her to be so stunning."
Jiang Chen chuckled, "Since I'm helping you, of course I had to find a beauty for the role."
Lin Yin smiled and added, "You are Jiang Chen's friend, which makes you my friend too. Today, I will fulfill my duties as a bridesmaid."
Lin Xiaohui felt immense gratitude towards Jiang Chen.
At that moment, Lin Xiaohui's cousin Ding Huanhuan was also stunned. Just moments ago, she had mocked Jiang Chen, but who would have thought that the bridesmaid he brought would be even more beautiful than a movie star? This shattered Ding Huanhuan's proud demeanor.
Huang Fei's parents and sister felt embarrassed; they had looked down on Lin Xiaohui and thought the wedding was too shabby. Now, they were left speechless.
Amidst his shock, Huang Fei felt more happiness than anything else. Regardless of the circumstances, Lin Xiaohui now had a bridesmaid, which meant his mother had no reason to object anymore.
"Mom, now that Xiaohui has a bridesmaid, can we continue with the wedding?" Huang Fei asked.
"Uh, of course," Huang Fei's mother replied awkwardly.
"Jiang Chen, you’re impressive! How did you end up with such a beautiful girlfriend?" some classmates from junior high who used to get along with Jiang Chen approached him curiously.
"I saved her," Jiang Chen replied.
"No way! Your luck is incredible! How come I don’t have such good fortune to save a gorgeous girl? Even a pretty girl would do!" one male classmate said enviously.
"Jiang Chen, you've hit the jackpot! Has this beauty promised you anything in return?" another classmate asked curiously.
"You’re thinking too much; she just came to return a favor," Jiang Chen said. Although he had been on good terms with these classmates in the past, he didn’t feel the need to elaborate further.
"You spent a favor from such a beauty on Lin Xiaohui? That seems like quite a waste," one classmate remarked sympathetically.
"It’s worth it; after all, she’s my classmate," Jiang Chen replied earnestly.
"Then when I get married, can you help me invite a beauty as my bridesmaid too?" a female classmate asked with a smile.
"Sure, unless your family background is similar to Lin Xiaohui's," Jiang Chen joked.
"In that case, forget it," the female classmate quickly shook her head.
With the addition of Lin Yin, the beautiful woman, Lin Xiaohui's wedding went smoothly and turned out to be more lively than expected.
The happiest person, of course, was Huang Fei, the Best Man. Just a moment ago, he was complaining about the lack of bridesmaids and how he couldn't play games, but now, faced with the stunning Lin Yin, he appeared shy and even hesitant to make direct eye contact, though inside he was filled with joy.
