"A-Cheng, you have something to do at your company tomorrow, so you don't need to accompany us," I turned to Jiangcheng and said, "Jiaojiao and I can go together."
Jiangcheng hesitated for a moment but nodded and said, "Alright then, Mom, be careful on the way."
I smiled in response and continued to enjoy my dinner.
Lin Jiaojiao sat beside me with a somewhat unpleasant expression but didn't dare to say anything further.
The next morning, I changed into a finely tailored suit and applied exquisite makeup, exuding the elegance and composure of a wealthy woman.
Lin Jiaojiao had been waiting downstairs early.
"Mom, good morning," she said. Today she wore a pink dress that made her look particularly pure and charming.
"Mm, let's go," I replied lightly and walked out the door first.
Lin Jiaojiao followed closely behind me, wearing a flattering smile.
The driver parked the car in front of an elegantly decorated antique shop, and Lin Jiaojiao and I entered one after the other.
"Welcome!" An elderly man dressed in a Tang Suit greeted us with a cheerful smile. "What would you like to see?"
"Just looking around," I replied lightly, my gaze sweeping over the antiques in the store before settling on an Antique Display Shelf holding Blue-and-White Porcelain.
"Jiaojiao, come over and take a look at this Blue-and-White Porcelain," I beckoned Lin Jiaojiao to join me.
Lin Jiaojiao walked over slowly, her eyes landing on the Blue-and-White Porcelain. A flicker of panic crossed her face, but she quickly masked it, feigning surprise as she exclaimed, "Wow, it's so beautiful!"
I observed her expression without revealing my thoughts, silently mocking her; she was indeed a novice who couldn't even tell the genuine from the fake.
"Boss, how much is this Blue-and-White Porcelain?" I turned to ask the shop owner.
"Madam, you have a keen eye! This piece is from the Ming Dynasty and is worth a fortune!" the shop owner replied with a smile, a glint of cunning in his eyes.
"Is that so?" I pretended to be surprised. "What a coincidence! I've recently taken an interest in Ming Dynasty Blue-and-White Porcelain. Please give me your price."
"Since you like it so much, I'll offer it for five million," the shop owner said, extending his hand with a grin.
"Five million?" I raised an eyebrow in feigned astonishment and turned to Lin Jiaojiao. "Jiaojiao, what do you think of this price?"
Lin Jiaojiao was clearly taken aback by the amount; her expression shifted slightly as she stammered, "I... I don't know..."
"Boss, isn't your price a bit inflated?" I said with a smile, my tone laced with dissatisfaction. "I've seen quite a few Ming Dynasty Blue-and-White Porcelain pieces before, and your price is significantly higher than the market rate!"
"Madam, you may not know this, but this Blue-and-White Porcelain is the treasure of my shop. If it weren't for the fact that you are an expert, I wouldn't be willing to sell it!" The shopkeeper continued to smile, but his tone was clearly less assertive than before.
"The treasure of your shop?" I scoffed, pointing at a slight crack near the mouth of the Blue-and-White Porcelain Vase. "Then why don't you explain this crack?"
The shopkeeper's expression changed, his eyes flickering as he stammered and couldn't find his words.
I snorted coldly, placed the Blue-and-White Porcelain back in its original position, and turned to leave.
"Hey, madam, please don't go! The price is negotiable, very negotiable..." Seeing this, the shopkeeper hurried after me.
I stopped and said coldly, "No need. I have lost all interest in your items."
With that, I walked out of the antique shop without looking back. Lin Jiaojiao quickly followed me.
"Mom, wait for me!" She jogged to catch up with me, a hint of panic on her face.
I halted and looked at her coldly. "Lin Jiaojiao, what did I tell you before? Antiquities are very complicated; you'd better not get involved lightly."
Lin Jiaojiao's face turned pale as she lowered her head, not daring to speak.
